  1. thats the trigger switch inside the gearbox, they tend to fry once in a while too if you using a higher voltage, higher amp battery damnit, i spent so much time and money turning my para into an SPW, and they go and release one ready-made. I WANT THAT NEW FEED MECHANISM!! curse you STAR cuurrseee yooouuuu
  2. yeh, your right, i looked myself, they are in the right spots, just the wrong kinda hardware. maybe i'll take those two screws out of the magwell, and drill straight through the gun, and put in a roll pin, sure would look better.
  3. your Mp-40 looks so badass!! How'd you do those grips it looks great. I just got mine from boom arms today. For $128.00 what can you complain about. I'll start with the bad things. There is some wobble in the stock in the open position, and the magazine wobbles a little. the black spray paint finish is descent at best. The front sight is not adjustable. There are a couple out place looking philips head screws on the magwell. The only safety is a little recessed switch on the bottom of the grip. No room for anything bigger than a 8.4 mini in the reciever. Not even a 9.6 8cell mini, they're
  4. I just ordered the AGM, but i can't find spare mags anywhere. Anybody seem em?
  5. The gun was great stock, I had no problems with it. Then i put a PDI 150 in it, and it was fine for a long time, until the plastic gearbox shell broke. Thats at about 60,000 rounds or so.. I bought an RAS for a top/CA m249.. Hacked the STAR apart and modified it to fit.
  6. I bought the RIS. and i made the heatshield myself
  7. Finally got everything done to my para that i wanted to do. classic army's new elcan is SWEET.
  8. Its not a simple drop in conversion. there is some work involved. You have to cut a peice out of the feed tray to clear the hop-up adjustment lever. You have to modify the anti-reversal latch button in order for it to work correctly. You also have to shorten the spring catch for it to fit the gearbox without hitting the spring guide, and you have to switch out the trigger switch lever for a longer one that comes with the kit. You also need to know how to shim gears since you have to assemble the entire gearbox, and solder aswell to detach and re-attach the wires on the motor. I would rec
  9. I had the deep fire piston in my wild monkey gearbox, which i believed was a copy of the star. then i put it in my PGC. I bought the PGC from WGC, i was about 170$ That included the gearbox shell, bearings, tappet plate, nozzle, cylinder head, and the hop-up chamber with all the little related parts. You keep the star cylinder, piston, motor, gears, trigger switch, and a few other little things.
  10. Unfortunately i dont think you can buy just the PGC hop-up unit which is a shame because it is REALLY nice. I've been using a Deep Fire piston, with titanium coated teeth, and its been working wonderfully, maybe i just got lucky there, i dunno.
  11. it sounds like its just going to basically be a copy of the star m249 with an aluminum body. if you look through any classic army m249 threads, you'll see the same thing, lots of problems. lets not even mention TOP. But i think with any AEG that you fire tens of thousands of rounds through like a SAW, your going to be repairing it, and replacing parts on a regular basis. On an unrelated matter, i decided to scrap the star gearbox and hop up unit altogether and do a PGC conversion. The parts are beautiful, all milled and anadized aluminum, and the fit is perfect. Best thing you ca

  13. I just ordered a PGC gearbox conversion, so i'll not be using my wild monkey metal gearbox shell anymore if your interested in one
  14. I bought my 100 round cloth mag from UNcompany.
  15. the Hop up bucking. cover the hop up end, and the feed hole, sorry. and with the tape, wrap it around the bucking.
  16. try replacing the hop up rubber, if it looks ok, try wrapping teflon tape around the outside of it. if you take the barrel out with the hop up chamber still attached, and you put your finger over the hop up end, and blow through the muzzle end you shouldnt feel any air escaping through the hop up chamber. I had the same problem you are describing, and nothing was wrong with the gun, the hop up leaked.
  17. for anyone still wondering about batteries for the 100rnd ammo pouch, i had a couple made at cheap battery packs .com 9.6v 2500's, and they fit PERFECTLY. I had it built with CBP 2500 AA cells. each battery only cost me about 27.00, and i recieved them in about 4 days.
  18. I've tried contacting star several times about several different subjects, they never replied, not once. I went back a few pages but i cant find your problem, is it the feed mechanism, or the trigger?
  19. yeh, i wish i would have left mine alone, it was great stock, very reliable. i shot at least 70,000 rounds through mine, most of that with an upgraded spring and a 9.6 battery, before the stupid plastic gearbox broke.
  20. your right, ive got it all backwards. I still cant get a hold of star, i hope someone starts stocking these parts soon.
  21. if its rated for higher anmperage, it probably has thicker wires, which would result in more resistance. who sells a classic army replacement?
  22. THanks, Im almost positive now the air is escaping around the barrel. I have another problem now, ive broke the trigger switch, does anyone know what kind of switch this is and where i might be able to get a new one? Star wont reply to my e-mails.
  23. thanks for the info guys, i'll try some teflon tape. when i installed the metal gearbox, my FPS is barely over 200, theres a serious leak somewhere. I am almost certain its not in the gearbox, it has to be between the nozzle and the bucking, or around the barrel and the bucking. I'm using a systema bucking, and its rather loose around the barrel. When i take the gun apart, and hold the chamber against the gearbox, i can still see some of the chamfered end of the nozzle through the Feed hole, it looks like it should go in further,i dont know if this is normal or not, i never noticed
  24. Im having a hard time finding a replacement hop up rubber that seals well. what have you guys used successfully??
