  1. From what I can see in the pictures, I think TYR have probably built their version to a higher standard. I didn't have a problem actually getting the things on, but once they had been on there a few minutes there was a good 4mm gap opened up between the upper edge of the upper strip of webbing and the base cordura. I've never been a fan of MALICE anyway and I think HSGI could do with slightly altering the vertical dimensions of their TACO line, but I'm still not very impressed by the VTAC given the price. I've got 4 ATSs now and they're all stitched at least as well, if not better.
  2. I think everyone needs to at the moment to be honest, certainly anyone running an adaptable sling. At this time, for me anyway, nobody out there makes a sling that's 'right', but it's pretty easy to make one for yourself without any actual gear manufacturing knowledge. I've taken a few detailed photos and I've got quite a lot of thoughts on the subject so I'll post about that properly somewhere else.
  3. PTS ACR, ready at last. Sorry, what was that? You wanted an actual gun instead of a load of bits strewn about the place? Oh go on then, since you asked nicely. Option 1: Option 2: When I had a random fit of thinking I was some kind of pro photographer:
  4. Bit cheaper: http://www.optactical.com/vitabbabe.html Though I'm not sure who does the better deal on shipping, so it's worth going right through the checkout to be sure.
  5. It's certainly good from the design side. Apart from the Hardpoint Cingulum ( http://www.hrdpnt.com/Detail.aspx?ID=54 ) it's the only MOLLE belt I know of that gives you the option to mount non-MOLLE items directly in-line with the inner belt. The suspender attachments are in the right place, it's well contoured and it's got plenty of airtex mesh on the inside and the materials themselves are beyond doubt, unfortunately I'm not 100% convinced by the quality of the stitching and I'm not the only person to voice concerns in this area. It's not 'bad', far from it, I'd just expect a bit better

  7. Still getting my phantom ones over here. Not that it particularly matters, but when you see a big red 4 up in the corner it really gets your hopes up for lots of new content to respond to, only for it to turn out to be stuff you've seen already...

Here are my two MC belt setups as they currently stand: Medium Speed ATS Warbelt ATS Warbelt Insert SOC-Cs 2 x OPS Pistol Mag Pouches TAG Roll-Up Dump Pouch G-Code RTI MOLLE Adapter Blackhawk 1911 SERPA w/ RTI Hanger Considering the price the Warbelt (& insert) really are very comfortable and well built items. The flexibility really makes it all very easy to wear all day, though the on the flip side the lack of rigidity can mean that a high-mounted holster can leave your pistol hanging on a slant. Some kind of

  10. I figured there's probably enough rifles out there now which follow the new standard and I'm also really not a fan of Grip-Pods, so I thought I'd stick to the legacy colour for plastic furniture on L85s. Weighs a *fruitcage* ton, but given the barrel length, the improved ergonomics gained by using the rail and the myriad features of the optic, I'm quite happy with that. The only thing I'd really like to do is sort out a wider/padded sling, the sling points on the ICS are particularly narrow (even more so than those on the real weapon) which makes it rather awkward.
  11. Here we go... standard AEG. Nothing fancy or out of the ordinary. This'll be a cinch to modify. *2 days later* fffuuuuuuu...

It's ok, I got there in the end. Pretty much worn out a red grinding wheel dremeling though.

  12. Nice setup, much prefer those VTAC rails to the TRX line. Do those rails come with any extra 20mm segments?
  13. Just like the real thing! From what I've seen that is.
  14. Why not think about the fact he's tried various different configurations already and settled on that one his own reasons? Try actually having a proper look at that setup. By the time he's put both of those double pouches next to each other the very rear pair of magazines are going to be somewhere around near his spine, how is that practical for reloads? The vast majority of people that use chest rigs, PCs and vests run their magazine pouches right across the front exactly as House has done there, works fine for all those people. Back in the days of ALICE and PLCE that's exactly how ever

Beer is undoubtedly quite manly, but it's also terribly un-tactical.

  16. Well 30 rounds is a realcap isn't it? I always run mids with between 75 and 120 per magazine, so 4 or 5 is plenty.
  17. Says a lot about range commandos really. The only part I've found a bit awkward has been getting the free end to finally secure in to the locking piece, but end of the day, it takes you 5-10 minutes to get things setup and then you get dozen/hundreds/thousands of hours use from the thing. I don't see how anyone can think that's not worth a little bit of effort at the beginning.
  18. Pretty sure the DMR stock, barrel and handguards are all on their way as individual items. Same as the folding stock and the 11.5" barrel.
  19. Welcome to a whole new world of frustration. Until you've got them fitted and are actually using the things of course, then they're great.
  20. Correct. It's not like I'm taking rifle courses in another state and need a case to send my guns in. It just goes in the back of my car for skirmish days, that's all.
  21. That really is a properly *suitcase* thing to do. Have you contacted WGC? Because that's just not on.
  22. Sorted then, thanks m_t. Finally I can put something together worthy of the D&G'ness of the Helmet picture thread.
  23. ICS Garand is 8mm :(

    1. cazboab

      cazboab

On Youtube vids of it, the ICS rep says its 8mm too. :( SO MUCH FAIL. First it was an SMLE, then an M1 garand, now its an 8mm oddity.

Maybe 8mm bushings is what they meant?

    3. renegadecow

      renegadecow

Don't really mind it being 8mm myself. But depending on the price, one may as well just go with the Marushin gbb.

  24. You wash it all out afterwards, just leaves lots of small ridges/rises in the paint for a nice textured surface.
