  1. Something I did just think of regards the loose straps issue: You can quite easily manage the excess webbing on the shoulder straps using a pair of ITW web dominators, this requires no extra materials or sewing skills/apparatus. However, since the outer surface of nylon webbing is quite smooth, in my experience the dominators can fairly easily slide off or be dislodged, so some sort of permanent mod (such as the one I've done) will be substantially more reliable. I'm yet to decide on a management method for the excess on the sternum strap or the assemblies on the sides that allow for att
  2. In depth review, with that all-important water test: http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/201588-grey-ghost-gear-lightweight-assault-pack-litelock-hd-video-review/
  3. Fairly new item on the market, the material is somewhat of an unknown quantity and this is the first item I've heard of to be made from it, though I'd imagine if there aren't already then there will be quite a few more to come. Either way, something a little bit different to the norm, yet very much in keeping with the new trend we're now seeing sweeping through so many gear manufacturers with regards shaving weight of load-bearing gear down to the absolute minimum. If I were a betting man, I'd put money on the 'next big thing' will be everyone trying to out-do each other for having the light
  4. Hehe, you know I seriously did actually make that joke in about another picture I posted somewhere else about a year ago. The similarity is quite uncanny it's true.

  6. Cheers deadmeat, I hope you'll be putting some nice ACR pr0n up in the magpul picture thread.
  7. I know! That's why I've got more on the way.
  8. At last, somewhere to stick all my stickers: I was going for that old leather guitar case look, you know the kind that some teenager inherited off his dad and it's got lots of dog eared stickers of peace symbols sitting at jaunty angles next to all the new logos of skate boarding brands. Gently transporting a well loved acoustic from place to place. Mine of course houses guns and is plastered with hard-right american rhetoric and the logos of brands and companies which produce gear that helps rough guys kill bad people. Currently awaiting the newly released PTS sticker pack
  9. Has anyone seen any of the other colours? Do we know if the hardware will be colour matched to the webbing?
  10. It's just the trigger finger manipulation tab he's riveted on there: http://www.solartactical.com/AK-EXTENDED-SAFETY-SELECTOR-TAB-127.htm Wish I had a tool set here for riveting, learnt how to do it but your average DIY store just doesn't seem to carry the sets. Certainly opens up a lot of options for working on certain types of AKs.
  11. It's weird to be honest, it's wafer thin (as you'd expect with something designed to be super light) so you take it out the box and when you're used to 1000D cordura you feel like it's going to be weak, but the more I've used it the more I get the impression it's actually quite robust. Given that it's the first product I've owned made from this stuff I can't really give any sort of definitive answers because it's just my kit bag that carries gas/eye pro/gloves etc and sits in the safe zone. Bit of an unknown quantity really, though based on my experience I'd say that even if I someone wan
  12. Yeah that's what I've got on my Woosatch. I'll have to rephrase what I said earlier, the OPS stuff is good, it'll last a long time in airsoft but I probably wouldn't take it to afghan. Not because of any of the material/thread used, just because their QC seems a tad spotty; though when you consider they use all the genuine stuff and the prices are seriously low it's a good choice for airsofters. It'll definitely get all the kit you want inside no problem, though it's a tall pack, taller than the back of a DCS, that's why I went for the PIG.
  13. Grey Ghost 'litelock' Assault Pack. Pretty impressed for the money, very lightweight indeed that's for sure and it comes with 4 faxtex buckles which are attached to some cordura with MOLLE and MALICE clips which means it's excellent for mounting to a rig. As the keen eyed amongst you may notice some of the MOLLE loops are too narrow (in the vertical plain), however all standard pouches do fit on just fine and are perfectly secure, I presume it was done to save a few extra grams. Biggest detractor is a lack of securing features for all the straps, you end up with *suitca
  14. That's the main plus point with the mexican food. Say you want to bring a Mk16 and a Mk18 with me to a game, that's no problem, just grab the other set of mags out my rifle bag, there you go. No need to duplicate all your comms, your hydro setup, the tools/spare BBs/batteries in your GP pouch or whatever else you skrim with. Sounds like a good kit selection, the OPS pack is pretty large, but then it's as good quality as any other 'real' brand and if you actually want to carry stuff other than your bladder (food, maps, med kit, ammo, pyro, spare clothes) it gives you a good amount of spac
  15. Cheers, though that guy may well have been military and was giving you 'that' nod. Trust me when you get used to spotting the little signs there's more forces guys out and about at any given time than people realise, after I'd been in a few months it gave me a very different view on things every time I got on a train, you just start spotting issue holdalls and rucksacks all over, heh. Oh yeah absolutely, I've never worn a shell to a skirmish but I always see people do it and wonder how they manage. Hell I'll wear a UBACS in the winter under a PC, if it gets really cold I'll switch
  16. I've had that with all my SOCOMs. It's the same on GBBRs and on the RS, that's why the castle nut is there. You always end up having to slightly loosen the tube to get it in to the correct alignment, so something is needed to secure everything in place.
  17. Thought I'd supplement Dave's highly informative videos there with some photography, since I received the same product (pretty much) yesterday and happen to like taking photo picture snaps. I'm very much in a similar boat to him in that I previously purchased one of the older fixed 4x replicas with the little bit of string on the battery cap, very impressed with the optical clarity on it but decided to upgrade to a new version with the Docter. Unfortunately, it would appear that I didn't get lucky as Dave has by paying for the fixed sight and ending up with the variable. Either that or t

  19. Sorry to be a bit off-topic but that made me seriously lol. Best first post I've read yet.
  20. Advanced Armament Corp. M4-2000 Suppressor with Blackout 51T 3-Prong Flash Hider by Magpul PTS Suppressors in airsoft are, it has to be said right off, very much a superfluous accessory with little practical function. The majority of players out there use AEGs from which most of the firing sound is generated by the gearbox. Adding an accessory like this one to your rifle will only have a small effect on the audible report of the compressed air leaving the end of your barrel. With that said, a suppressor with an actual foam lining such as this one can somewhat alter the n
  21. I'm literally right now in the process of picking my gear for a very similar setup. PCs and Chest rigs are great, but I do still have a lot of love for my old PLCE and old-school webbing in general. Good kit Pero.
  22. Sounds about right to me, we didn't have Osprey when we went in to Iraq. Hell, when you look back at pictures from the time there's a lot of guys just not wearing any body armour at all, plenty of respirator haversacks about though.
  23. Well, they use aluminium for the real thing. They wouldn't exactly have to CNC it or anything, just a decent casting would probably be fine. Personally I wouldn't mind paying the added cost, although to be quite honest I've never had a problem with any metal parts on any TM weapon.
  24. Work kit updated. Issue combat gloves replaced with Mechanix, cheap fleece hat replaced with Arc'teryx beanie. Definitely the most tacticool armourer now.

  25. Sorted, cheers mate. Your cover's looking pretty decent there considering it's designed for an entirely different helmet, good option for those who don't fancy paying nearly £50 for the Crye.
