    Just for some general info, if anyone's been considering the Dytac outer barrels but not taken the plunge so far, I installed the 12" one I bought last night and I'm pretty happy with it overall. Slight issues were as follows: The area around the base of the barrel that sits inside the upper is ever so slightly too thick, it'll stick out ~1mm farther than it should from the front of the upper; however I've fully assembled the gun with no problems and 30 seconds with some sand paper to take a bit of the paint off will solve the issue.     If all the electrics and the motor are working then I'd say you're pretty much left with a gearbox issue, locked up perhaps. Though it does remind me of a problem that's fairly common with the TM SOPMOD design, if you put on a Magpul grip without using the upgrade metal base plate then when you pull the trigger the motor only moves a tiny bit but isn't able to cycle the gun.

    Very unusual, I'd first play around with the motor height adjustment, then try taking the motor out of the pistol grip (but still connected to the wires) and seeing whether it spins ok by itself.

    Think it may have been one of the picture threads rather than in here, but the only person I've seen on this board that bought one of those had to get heavy and extensive machine work done to it just to get it to fit on. If they do another batch which actually work and someone buys one to test then I'll get a couple, right now though I'm deliberately not buying any.

    Looks like it's split vertically, not sure how you'd get it on to the barrel nut otherwise.

    The bolt locks on my SOCOMs have never worked with the PTS BAD installed to be honest, or they only functioned every so often anyway. Took them off and the lock worked fine again, still not sure to this day why it was. The mags should've been fine, the levers were mounted right and the paddle was able to stick out far enough for the system to function (unlike when I tried a RS BAD) so yeah, bit of a mystery really.

    Considering that's just a normal green plastic garden table, those photos have ended up rather nice indeed. Credit I'd say to setting up the weapon the way you have, excellent stuff.

    Decided to see if the rig that I mostly use to skirmish in would hold up to more of a RS type environment: I'm happy to report that it did very nicely, I was reloading at least 2-3x faster than everyone in PLCE.

    Extremely glad that airsoft guns don't require cleaning of carbon after firing , cause I'd definitely never go skirmishing again if they did.

      Blanks are certainly worse due to the very nature of them this is true. Lucky it's that way around really, I don't think there was any carbon left at all last time I put 30 ball through a gun, which is reassuring.

    I'm just waiting on one of the Dytac outers to turn up from WGC actually, so I can give you a proper comparison in a week or so. However, given that I can pretty much guarantee you now that the they're of the same kind of quality as their standard AEG outer barrels, then the Laylax one will be a lot better. The dytac 14.5" I have already is perfectly ok, it fits and functions fine no real issues, but it's just 'average' really, whereas the laylax one is machined beautifully and anodised.

    Unless you've got some pretty extensive technical expertise, plenty of cash and a whole lot of high quality tools I'd honestly recommend just going for a CTR instead. In terms of airsoft it'll give you the exact same functionality while being quick and easy to fit, the UBR would requite a lot of cutting, chopping and other custom work.

      Well I was all up for MC but I also want the 762 PMAGs and they only come in FDE or black, so A-TACS was the only real option.

    That is actually a UBR on an AK, now I've seen everything, great shooter mate.

    That may end up being a fair bit of weight, it's hard to say really until you try it but I think that could end up potentially being rather uncomfortable after a days' skirmishing. Considering they're fairly cheap and don't really add any weight or bulk to your gear I'd be using suspenders with that lot, obviously folks on here have different preferences but personally I like to be able to distribute a bit of the weight to the shoulders.

    It's standard issue for the entire military when using a weapon with the DD rail. I thought it looked a little odd at first myself but you get used to the aesthetic, and it does seem to be working very well with the rifle which is the main thing.

    Loosing off a few rounds with the WOC again, just because I like the warm fuzzy feeling it gives me inside (and it's not just the indigestion this time).
