I'd prefer going ACR stock, but to each his own :)

I looked a little while back and there was no ACR adapter for the TM SCARs, subsequently I have a veeeery similar setup on my Mk16 rear-end to bladerunner's.

  2. I'm not sure about different packaging, but yeah as I say there's never been like a Gen 2 or anything where the entire line changed.  The AK models had a revamp specifically where they changed to having stop-on-empty and obviously they've released many more AR variants and the Minimi is interesting but that's all.  We can but hope that one day they'll move over to setting the guns up with deans and mosfets etc vs the 8.4v nimh obsolescence they're still happy to sit on (obviously you can run them on 7.4 lipos, I know and I do, but they're not selling lipos or really building the guns with them in mind).

  3. Some of my rigs that I took photos of years ago and put on the ol' socials but not here.  Have been a few little changes but not all that much.

Most FirstSpear here, some Tyr, bits of BFG, TT, HSGI, Flimmuur, G-Code and Safariland.  The front plate bag and shoulder straps on the RG PC are scratch built, as are the triple 556 placards though they've since been sold and I use replacements that accepts Spiritus inserts these days.

  4. For some reason I can't stop the bell ringing even though the PM button literally right next to it shows I have a new message in my inbox.  Turning off the bell notification of a new PM is disabled by admin apparently, any chance of changing that please?

Finally managed to find a VFC 9" HK417 rail for sale that wasn't silly expensive.

(I dunno if that's what you were actually going for, just something that came to mind.  I think the Russian side had that camo as an unlock too.. maybe..)

  6. The company with the X-Site name stopped running games there a year or 2 ago.  I played a game maybe 6 months prior to it closing just out of happenstance and it was really run down, a lot of the structures were unsafe and taped off.  Whether that was through lack of any profit to be able to repair them or just not bothering/poorly managed I've no idea.

Had to dig around a bit to find the info and it was confusing for a sec, but this different bunch is running that High Wycombe site at the time or writing it seems.  Whether they're taking any better care of the place I don't know.

The X-Site page changed their name to Sentinel and run the Outpost.

right had a look at the image links you posted above, I can't see them and they show bloked for me. I think you can see them as they are chached or private to you. Are you following the procedure to get a shared link off Google Photos or just copying the link from the address bar?

I get what you're saying, but as I say the long links work 100% fine on the other 2 forums which to me would tend to suggest the issue is more with this board.  Example:

    https://airsoft-forums.uk/topic/7377-the-what-have-you-just-bought-thread/?do=findComment&comment=355912

I'm pretty confident I already tried using the Share/Get Link option in other threads here and various other users said they still weren't seeing anything, but here's a test just in case:

    https://photos.app.goo.gl/kSo3vE1WdGaod54J9

And using the type of site shown in the video:

    https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/0-rLzyQgOBinnL_seQQSzor0-OxpWqCdXsipcvXEkOKNhhYcK3hn7nMTk68c9_2yD7KL3K61yqNHVSXe4Uyoxkl3FmBhkOUA=w2400

Pasting either style of link in to the 'Insert Image from URL' under the 'Insert Other Media' drop-down in the bottom right of the post writing box just results in the text field flashing red at me when I click insert in to post.  If I do the standard thing and Copy Image Address on GP then use said drop-down it appears to work on my end:

    uqAGvRAvCRwcg9rH7xjGj9C28EHic5ohOwr7YCls

I would presume you'll not see an image here ^ however.

  8. I had to move from flickr after they switched their entire model, but it seems 99% of people here can't view any images I post that are hosted on my new account over at GP, so I pretty much can't post any pictures here anymore because tbh I'm not moving everything again or individually re-hosting each image I want to post.  It does seem odd this issue had arisen, the GP hosting works perfectly fine ad one would expect over on AF-UK and DevTsix.

    Original issue highlighted:

    Test thread for reference:

In that thread I personally can see the 1st image in the OP perfectly fine and also the image in the 2nd post, but the 2nd image in the 1st post is just a hyperlink.

Well, obviously it was just suggestion...

No that's fine, not trying to come aggressive here and if it reads that's way then my apologies.  Personally, I'll use real stuff where I physically/legally can purely because I find that a fun element of a build, but I've tended towards the lightweight side of the spectrum for many years now on those RS parts, especially with rails, barrels, muzzle devices and other front end parts.  If I can use a pot metal barrel that looks essentially the same as a steel one and is mostly covered anyway, but weighs a lot less, than that's my preference.  Right now I'm fighting with a V7 Hyper Light M-LOK tube trying to get it on my Krytac LVOA - horrible tolerances on the barrel nut.

Hey, but where's the strive for realism? ;)

And I would be careful on lack of practical gain. I can easy recall a few situations when I wouldn't bet on aluminum outer barrel survival...

Been playing about 13 years, only ever hit an AR replica barrel in to anything firmly one time, was Dytac pot metal and it showed zero sign of damage.  You're welcome to use what you like that's fine, but this is airsoft you can play as hard or as easy as you like.  I'll take the lightweight option seeing as I don't play much and I tend to just not bash my guns in to things when I do play, same way I treat my issued rifle.

I would get rid of this barrel from this one, and get some steel one. From Madbull or G&P.

Add a load of weight in perhaps the worst place to add weight as far as it relates to affect on handling?  For essentially zero gain both practically and aesthetically?  Not personally my cup of tea thanks, I infinitely prefer the standard pot metal barrels, especially given you basically can't see 80%+ of the barrel with most builds using modern handguard configurations.

  12. Problem is of course that the immediate gratification of FB stuff stole traffic from the forums, but now the FB groups are getting cut and there an awful lot of people for whom facebook literally is the whole internet.  The new social media giants are not friendly to anything that looks like a gun, but everyone is on their platforms, bit of a quandry.  I hear discord mentioned somewhat often but I've never been on to it really.

I think the thing with YT/FB/IG is an pretty large portion of airsofters only seem interested in following 'celebrities' and what they post and none of those people are on forums or actually active anywhere outside of their own personal pages/accounts.  With a forum you just had a bunch of people talking who were basically all on equal footing; sure you'd have the folks with fancy stuff and a lot of posts who'd perhaps garner a little more attention than others but there was no great disparity I wouldn't say.  Now you've either got 50k+ followers and you only hang out with other celebrities, or you're at the bottom of the pile looking up and wishing you got free *suitcase* all the time to post about (generalising obviously) and that creates a fair old disparity.

  13. I'll be honest, that 3% zombie outbreak picatinny-bayonet looking Fortis handguard was not lighting my fire, but the PTS is a great shout.  I'm hoping to have a very similar forend setup with a dual switch when I eventually get around to acquiring an IR laser.  All the scalarworks stuff looks sweet as well.  Presume you're putting lipos in the CTR pad?
