  1. After reading the post about your problem on the previous page I tested my gun and the same thing happens. I have to very deliberately pull the trigger as slowly as I can - it would be a extremely rare occurrence under normal skirmish use - and there is a sweet (sour?) spot where I can get a short two or three round burst when the gun selector is set to semi. My gear set is Prometheus, standard TM trigger and cut-off lever with a Gate PicoAB mosfet, 11.1v lipo. I'm not too worried about it, I never noticed it before. And I'm guessing a Spectre mosfet will solve the problem completely.
  2. Coming soon… http://www.btcairsoft.com/spectre_newv2gb
  3. You sure? It doesn't look black to me. I'd say it was a stock TM gearbox. 18awg fits down the buffer tube channels, but you've got to get signal wires down there as well. With 16awg even front wiring is going to be a tight fit. Speaking of signal wires, how many are there?
  4. My SOCOM had a full type cylinder as well. I assumed they all did.
  5. JCheeseright: That was perfect. It was worth the many months of waiting just for that gag. mrezzy: Damn, I'm very jealous. Looking forward to more updates. And… I'm a bit late but thank you for your help. I'll be ordering from Eagle6 as soon as you get some stock.
  6. Good to hear you might have found a solution to your problem Hatchet. Working on AEGs can be so frustrating. Which brings me to… I recently rewired my gun from the front (aka SOCOM) to the rear. Everything went well, no big problems, but I did notice I wasn't getting the FPS I was expecting and there was quite a bit of fluctuation in the readings. With an M100 spring from Eagle6 I was just nudging 300fps but some shots were as low as 280fps. Thanks to the legendary TM hop the gun was still shooting well so I haven't given it much thought. But today I noticed the air nozzle doesn't see
  7. Waaahhh? After all this time? I did see a post from BTC on the Airsoft Mechanics forum saying there would be a reveal anytime now, but after all the other release dates have come and gone I just thought 'I'll believe it when I see it'. Let us know how it goes and I'm looking forward to seeing a review.
  8. I'd also be interested if anyone sells these as a standalone spare part. Mine got dented by a very close range BB impact and now it sticks during the cycle. Not a big problem but if I can get a replacement that'd be great.
  9. I took the plunge and decided to try out a Redi-Mag system on my SOCOM. Short story: bad idea. I thought it would be a perfect solution for storing a battery and mosfet without cluttering up my rail system with a PEQ, and being able to use my favourite CTR stock. My plan was to dremel a slot in the lower receiver so the wires could come from the gearbox, through the slot and straight in to Redi-Mag system. No need to front wire through the channel by the barrel, meaning the two control wires for the mosfet wouldn't cause problems or get pinched during assembly. How completely wrong co
  10. That would be the *easy* option. Part of it is just seeing if it can be done.
  11. CKinnerly: I have a PTS CTR stock on my Socom and it fits without rattle or gaps. It really does lock down nice and solid, way better than the few other airsoft stocks I have tried. I've been toying with the idea of getting a PTS UBR stock (the model for gas blow back rifles) and seeing if it can be modded for a lipo. On top of the mods required to the Socom stock pipe it also would mean dismantling the Magpul stock tube and trying to route wires through, and then dremeling out behind the storage are to see if a small battery would fit. At best I'd say there would be a 50% chance of succes
  12. It could be your air nozzle and tappet plate fitting. It's easy to put the air nozzle in out of alignment. There's a bump in the air nozzle that needs to sit in a notch on the tappet plate. Or if your gun is front wired the hop unit could be pinching a wire, pushing the hop to the side slightly. I've had trouble with this, it's very tricky getting the wires out the front of the gun without them getting caught somewhere.
  13. According to a thread on Airsoft Mechanics this is the Spectre for TM Next Gen guns running in a SCAR. If true that would mean the development process must be well advanced. The loooooooong wait for this to come out has almost made me give up on my recoil gun. But every time I think 'I'm just going to get a PTW (again)' another teaser or snippet of info pops-up and I decide to wait a few more weeks… Back on topic, Eagle 6 have the Spectre for V2 guns in stock for £89… http://eagle6.co.uk/shop/catalog/product/view/id/582/s/blacktalon-concepts-chimera-mk-ii-fet-for-version-2-gearbox
  14. In a now deleted news thread BTC said the version to fit TM recoil M4s should be out before the end of the year. That said, the standard V2 version was delayed and it's just a small company so I wouldn't be surprised if it was into 2014.
  15. As with Druid, I use a PEQ-15 with this battery http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/kong-power-111v-1000mah-20c-single-rechargable-lipo-battery I change it out at lunch time but I think I could get a full days play at a pinch. But, for a change and also to top keep the top rail clean (purely aesthetic reasons) I've been thinking of trying a redi-mag system with the battery in the shell of the second mag. The are I think may be problematic is routing the wires to the mag without them causing problems for the bolt release. Has any one done this before? How did you run the wiring?
  16. Yep - to support what elanaiba said, you'll need to get the metal base plate for proper adjustment on the Magpul grips. - I'm currently using a PEQ box for my battery, but would rather have a clean rail system. Has anyone fitted a battery into a Redimag type set-up on their SOPMOD/SOCOM? How did you get on with the wiring?
  17. Fire Support also sell the PMags for recoil AEGs. Between them and Eagle6 you should be able to pick-up just about anything you need.
  18. Have you tried Eagle6? Even if it isn't llisted on their website I think it's worth emailing them.
  19. Nice write up. Looking forward to seeing how your installation goes.
  20. While fiddling about with my SOCOM recently I noticed an expected benefit of using a Magpul MIAD grip. The swappable backstrap means you only need to remove the pistol grip base to get access to the anti-reverse lever and unlock the gearbox after a jam. Edit: also useful for checking the pinion gear sits properly within the gearbox.
  21. Zushiku: That is sweet, a really cool looking blaster. I have been thinking of swapping out my Troy TRX rail for a Knights URX 3. Is yours replica or genuine? Which brand? And did you have any issues with getting it to fit? Thanks - Edit: And for some reason I'm thinking the bottom section of the rail is removable. Is that right? Any chance of getting a small lipo on there?
  22. Wow - build quality looks fantastic. Very robust and neatly finished. And I love your photos. They're so cuddly…
