  1. What blam has said is correct, but the metal baseplate is a separate item. The MIAD grip comes with a plastic base. On the upside though, once you have the metal base plate you can sell your spare MIAD grip and plastic base plate and recoup the cost of the metal base (the MIAD kit comes with two grips).
  2. http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/first-sling-plate-for-m4-shoot-and-recoil-version There are other versions though. I got mine from Airsoft Park, but couldn't find the link just now.
  3. hardboiledcop: I've been giving some thought to your feeding issues. I can't recall a metal cylinder or sleeve on any part of the gearbox, but it does sound like it might be part of gear axle or something. If so, having that part missing would likely cause problems with the gearbox not cycling properly rather than just feeding issues. My hunch is that you have the tappet plate or air nozzle fitted incorrectly. When reassembling mine I did notice the air nozzle had a little 'bump' that fitted into a notch on the tappet plate. It was possible to instal the air nozzle without the bump and notch
  4. Like Viper, my first guess would be fouling between the mag, hop unit and the wiring. If the gun started out as a SOCOM there are little clips for routing the wires and keeping them tucked safely to the side. I'm not sure if the SOPMOD includes these. Looking in to the mag well is usually enough to see if a wire might be causing a problem. Does the magazine lock in place as it should? Have you checked it with other magazines, or just that one? I can't think of any small silver cylinders that you might have missed, but it's a while since I looked inside my gearbox. Is it big enough for a B
  5. Thanks to those who commented on the reliability of the PTS PMags. I shall be ordering some very soon!
  6. Very much looking forward to the Spectre FET coming out. Was going to fit a FET to my SOCOM this weekend, but I will hold off now. I haven't seen much feedback on the Magpul PTS PMags for the recoil guns. Has anyone used them? How did they perform? Did they function/feed as they should? I've been wanting to get PMags for a while now, and the 120 round capacity makes them very tempting. Thanks
  7. I haven't seen any airsoft specific reports regarding the various connector types, but RC model guys know their onions when it comes to batteries and all swear by deans or the other modern connectors - and swear at Tamiya connectors.
  8. I have seen there are clones of the Magpul ASAP sling adaptor made specifically for the TM SOPMOD, but they are hard to get hold of. Looking at the Magpul PTS ASAP for PTW and GBB guns it appears it might also fit - and they are much easier to source. Can anyone confirm this? I'm using a front wired SOCOM, so don't need to worry about routing any cables. Thanks
  9. Thanks again -Clover- I know the TM Glock 17 doesn't fit the Gunclip becuase the slide is out of spec compared to the real steel, so if the VFC does that would be another +1 in my book.
  10. A big thanks to -Clover- for taking the time to write the review, very much appreciated. I have been thinking about getting another Glock for a while now, and this looks like it could be the best of the bunch, with the metal slide and sweet trades. Time will tell with reliability, but so far so good. Regarding external dimensions, how accurate do you think they are? Do you think this would fit with a Crye Gunclip?
  11. I don't have a photo, but the wiring route is very similar to a standard V2 gearbox, and off the top of my head there are 'guides' in the gearbox shell that keep all the wires tucked neatly in place. It's very simple to do. The only tricky area is where the wires route through the delta ring and barrel locking widget. Space is very tight.
  12. Is there a UK stockist for Frog Lube? Or did you order from the US?
  13. Desert Fox: You sure know how to accessories a gun. Looking sweet.
  14. Just a quick question for all you SOPMOD boffins: Is the motor pinion gear a standard TM type, or unique to the recoil guns? Thanks in advance for the help.
  15. Sweet review. Looking forward to a (hopefully positive) after game report. Can't wait to try one myself.
  16. My SOCOM with eMOD stock (King Arms), MIAD with metal base plate and Troy TRX front end (Madbull). Troy front end was very easy to fit. Needs the custom delta ring included with the package, but it's simple to screw on. Everything else just drops right on. Seriously thinking about rear-wiring the whole thing though…
  17. I could use mine with the plastic base plate but the brass set screw would protrude past the bottom of the grip. With the metal base plate the set screw is recessed slightly.
  18. I have visited their shop in Tunbridge Wells a couple times now and they are a friendly bunch. There is a decent amount of kit in stock from well known brands including real steel Magpul parts and Serpa holsters.
  19. If I want to fit a Magpul UBR stock to my SOCOM should I get the AEG or GBB version? I'm thinking GBB but would like it confirmed before ordering. Thanks for the advice.
  20. Same here. G&P delta ring went on okay but you'll need barrel shims to get it all solid.
  21. I have the CQB length outer and it went on to my SOCOM like a dream. At the same time I installed a G&P Troy MRF free-float hand guard and gas block, which also fitted without issues (except for needing the LayLax barrel shims for a solid fit), so I can't comment on whether the original TM RIS unit and sight block will drop straight on. I still have a pieces to fit to complete my upgrades but I will post photos and my thoughts as soon as I'm done. But I do have to say that Richard/Eagle6 deserves a round of applause for the YouTube tutorials, a real lifesaver for anyone with a SOPMOD.
  22. I've been meaning to say thanks for the advice - thanks! I opened up the gear box yesterday and while I couldn't see anything obviously wrong I went back to basics and reshimmed from scratch following your steps and the very helpful Eagle6 tutorials on YouTube. I haven't had a chance to do a proper test yet but everything spins smoothly and the piston does what it's supposed to when I turn the gears by hand. It also occurred to me that the way I have the battery connected is very bodged at the moment so it could be that stopping enough juice getting to the motor. Hopefully I'll get time t
  23. In the end I heated up the stock tube cap using the cooker hob for a minute or so, and then the very carefully but forcefully managed to get the blasted thing to turn. Was still tough, but once it got going it was simple. For anyone trying to change the recoil spring I'd recommend this method from the start. Just don't forget to remove all the plastic parts first. But now I'm having another issue… I'm in the process of replacing all the internals with Prommy parts. I've got all the gears, cylinder and piston in. Plus an Eagle6 M100 main spring and recoil spring. Without the springs in
