  1. Nice H. Just what you need to protect yourself from the zombie dog with lasers for eyes.
  2. You mean the gun? About a week ago Wolf Armouries had SOCOMs and CQBRs but no SOPMODs.
  3. Thanks for the advice. I have since spotted a thin strip of metal at the edge of the mezzanine floor in the office, I think it will be a good fit. I'll take the buffer tube to work and stay late one evening. I think I can get enough pressure on the tube to stop it slipping while at the same time trying to turn it. And if that doesn't work I'll make a visit to Homebase.
  4. I know this has been covered before, but I just cannot get the stock tube cap to budge. I've tried steel rules, shaped bits of metal that fit perfectly in the slot (from a stapler weirdly enough), mega screwdrivers and yale keys. I've put blood, sweat and tears into getting that thing shifted (literally) and it hasn't moved in the slightest. Does anyone have any further tips? I've thought about heating it up but I'm not sure what's inside and how it might be effected by the heat. Thanks for your advice.
  5. I have had my XDM for about a month now and it gets a solid +1 from me. Performance wise it's on par with a Marui Glock 17, but to me the recoil feels a little stronger. Finish is excellent, one of Marui's best, especially the matte surface on the slide. Fitted with a Surefire X200 mine fits well in my Bladetech holster for a Glock with weapon light. I just had to loosen the adjustment screw a little. The fit is just right, not too tight or loose. Will likely be the same for Safariland holsters. And I have been told it's a good fit for Serpa holsters made for real steel XDMs, but I hav
  6. Druid: It'll be Prommy all the way once I've made a few orders. Has anyone fitted an ASCU MOSFET? I'm guessing it might be a problem as it has some sort of micro switch trigger. Any other MOSFET recommendations? Thanks
  7. Thanks for the advice Akira. I have a SOCOM so will be trying to fit a Lipo and Mosfet in the handguard. If that doesn't work out I'll resort to a PEQ box.
  8. After several months of umm-ing and ahh-ing I've finally gone ahead and bought a SOCOM today - along with a G&P Troy MRF rail, CTR stock and a bunch of smaller bits and bobs. First impressions are good and build quality is much better than I was expecting. Looking forward to messing around with this gun and getting as good as my PTW ;-) If I were to use a 11.1v Lipo with this gun would a plug and play MOSFET be okay, or do I need to use a micro-switch trigger? I really like a snappy trigger response… Wootley: Check out the TM RECCE Rifle review on Arnies, there is mention there of
  9. Akira: Did you have any issues with feeding? And am I right in saying that in the long term a MOSFET would be required if I were to run 11.1 battery? My PTW uses has an 11.1 Lipo in the stock and the trigger response is mad - very snappy. If I could replicate that in a TM recoil gun, maybe even with the same battery, that would be another obstacle out of the way on my decision to invest in a next gen Marui (which I know is going to happen sooner or later).
  10. I've had a VFC KAC PDW for about a year now and have just got around to fitting an AWS Raptor FET… http://www.awsairsoft.com/ Fit was pretty simple with almost no modifying needing to be done, just some filing of the selector plate. The FET trigger unit drops straight in to the gearbox as a replacement part for the standard trigger. It took me longer to get in to the gearbox than it did to fit the unit. After that all there is to do is solder your preferred connector for the battery. I've always been a fan of the compact size of the PDW but as I have a Systema PTW as well it hasn't bee
  11. TK4235: I'm travelling the same road - but in the opposite direction. I've had a PTW for a few years now and it is an amazing gun - very solid, awesome response, rate of fire etc. I've found the hop to be excellent, very consistent and I haven't needed to adjust it for ages. But at the same time I do look at recoil Maruis with envious eyes, it's another step towards realism (but with a decent topping of usability that you don't get with GBBRs). Because I'm so happy with my PTW I'm reluctant to just switch, I'll have to run the guns side-by-side and see what I prefer. So at the moment it's
  12. Wow - that is an amazing price. I stand corrected (and very tempted). The advantage of buying in the UK is any defects are covered by a warranty and faulty products are easier to return. Still, it's a good price and I would imagine 99%+ of Marui products are good to go. And it doesn't matter how much you have, you always want a little bit more…
  13. For anyone in the UK wanting a SOPMOD or SOCOM I have just seen that FireSupport have a 10% sale on all Marui AEGs. http://www.fire-support.co.uk/newsdetail.php?story=221 That's a pretty good discount, and probably makes them the cheapest in the country - £405 for a SOPMOD. That might just be enough to nudge me from 'thinking about it' to 'actually doing it'…
  14. That's interesting. I thought the handguard was a bit chunky compared to an typical M4. Does anyone know if the same is true for the RIS handguard as well?
  15. Same here - took about 20 minutes with a file to fix the problem but I was disappointed it didn't drop straight in. Otherwise the build is good. Feels very solid, nothing wobbles, and the finish is excellent. I haven't had much chance to test it out but the couple of hundred rounds I put through it so far have fed perfectly and accuracy has been good. Jason PS. Thanks to everyone who has posted useful info on this thread. Once I've had a chance to use the gun in anger I'll add my thoughts as well.
  16. Smiles are cheaper than bullets

  17. Thanks Ycare. Just curious to find out if there were any issues with installation. Mainly because I've never installed a mosfet before and want to be fully prepared, but also because of the microswitch trigger which is unusual in and AEG. My plan is to add a mosfet, lipo battery (11.1v would be preferred as that is what I already use with my PTW) and tightbore barrel. Everything has been covered in detail in this thread aside from the mosfet.
  18. I've just read all 58 pages - it's been slow at work today. Thanks to everyone who posted their reviews, comments and advice. There have been several people intending to fit a mosfet to their Masada but has anyone actually done it yet? Just curious as I'm a mosfet newb and am considering taking the plunge with a Masada and pimping it to the max...
  19. Airsoft Armoury also has them. Maybe stock is arriving earlier than expected.
  20. Wow... Just read the whole 57 pages of this thread. Thanks to everyone who posted info and advice, I already feel as if I knock the gun intimately and I haven't even bought one yet! Time to start trawling the shops for everything I want... Edit: has anyone fitted a URX rail yet? They have some sort of funky nut/delta ring that needs a special tool to lock the rails down on to the reciever. Will that be a problem? Or just a matter of shimming?
  21. I've never had a problem with feeding on any of my G&P midcaps (although it sounds like I have been lucky) but I did have issues getting them to seat properly in the mag well of my CA M15A4. The bottom of the hop unit feeding tube didn't always line up with the hole on the top of the mag, and the mag would drop out as it wasn't locked in. I used a round file to round off and flare the internal edges of the feed port of the mag. Nothing too drastic, just enough to help the hop unit sit properly. When you do the filing keep some BBs in the mag so the debris doesn't enter the internals
  22. A great review - and with those updates regarding the mags and battery it answers all my questions except one… How can I buy one without my wife finding out? Thanks Jason
