  1. Ok got a chance to play with my USPc last night and here are my findings:

    - Decocker is light but takes a good bit of travel to work so feels about right.

    - Slide feels a touch brittle compared to other TMs but the rear of the slide feels as solid as possible.

    - Not a huge range but spot on for the Lower FPS.

    - Firing it on 144a is like a Detonics on Green, nice and snappy but no huge levels of kick.

    - Finish and looks are typical spot on TM.

All in all I would say a 9/10 generally but a 8/10 compared to other TMs. Still just so glad to have a TM USPc at last. And agreed the little baseplate is awful, chunky one is better.

  2. I will be honest, I have only seen that happen on a few guns and said models were known for issues.

But on TMs, KWAs, KSCs, WAs, some WEs, some Army's and many others like HFC, KJ and the even lesser clone makes have lasted with the standard cast parts.

Maybe it depends on how they are run and treated too, but I have only seen issues in issue prone guns with the odd exception that you can't really blame on anything other than just lack of luck in getting a mediocre part.

  3. Having had my TM XDM for a good 9 months of decent use I can't say I have seen a single bit of part wear. Everything in it looks fine and like it will last.

Running it straight on Green is going to cause issues though as it has a larger cylinder, meaning it will have a bigger effect on the parts as it rocks back and forth.

On Ultra, and not firing it in a very warm room, it is chugging along fine. Had an issue with the front sight popping out but that has happened in other designs that use the little cross piece holding the site to the slide.

  4. Very odd, I would say check the structure that holds the hop rubber and wheel is nice and tight.

That or open it up and remove any excess lube in the area. It needs to be stiff but still able to move.

  5. I must admit, after over two months of owning the HK45, when I go to my pistol cupboard and go to take one of my moderns out the HK usually gets first pick.

I keep finding new things to like about it, plus the combo DA/SA and SAO is great as it allows me to have a gun that works in SA but allows me to explain DA/SA to others that don't know yet :D.

Plus on the small backstrap it fits far too well for such an ugly grip.

  6. ... They're both black, plastic, and if you showed either to a girl on a first date you wouldn't get a second? I'm really struggling to see the connection.

You would be surprised how many chicks like guns. But maybe it is a test to see if it still works like those countless YT videos of Glocks firing after basically being *suitcase* on and then left for it to dry and cake on?

  7. The combat gun point would be about it featuring in Metal Gear Solid 3 as the main protagonists go to gun but it has a bright, 'in the white' slide sides and controls.

These are not good for a military combat gun as you would find black / green / tan better. But it is for MGS so makes sense in their world :P.

  8. According to a old comparison in the justpistols.co.uk website (now defunct), the TM Detonics is the best perfoming GBB pistol in cold temperatures. The small plastic slide makes it very efficient.

Well that and the smaller piston space. It really can be a tank though, especially on the TM 40rd magazines :P.

  9. I play it this way for 9-10 years now, and I don't hear the enemy players whine about it.

Sums up just about every 'but why' argument for me. That is the way you play, awesome, keep playing that way at your site with your friends and have fun.

As for me the bang kill rule is silly but then I think some places would do better to teach some players a little trigger discipline along with actually taking single hits, not needing three or four to put them out. Maybe in said posters area it is very different? But that works for them.

  10. Pretty sure the Detonics was the second, the Star PD came first iirc.

Release year puts the Star one year ahead. However the Star is not a 1911 design in the same way the Detonics is. The Detonics is just a commercail cut down with parts re-designed from the get go to make it work. The Star PD is a whole different pistol, just happens to be a .45 and SA. Still the Star PD actually looks kinda nice.

Plus I don't think many patriotic classic 1911 lovers would like to hear tell that a Spanish company beat a design to it :P.

  11. You also require some thugs and a briefcase.

And about three months of training with an ex-UK Special Forces bloke with a typical lower-middle class British accent :P (seriously check out the DVD extras).

  12. Damn you Marui, stop making great replicas of pistol that fit my hands well.

Got it last week, been too busy thinking of buying a grey suit and white shirt (I know that was for a USP.45 but this thing is not a 'box in your hand' as a USP.45).

  13. You'd be surprised what I make in a month.

It was the late 80s and he was an airport cop, it probably was more than he made in a month ;).

its just that everybody calls them "1911's" when we all know they aren't really

Ok, that one is not the same :P. Just to give some proof: http://www.ruger.com/products/sr1911/models.html, http://www.sigsauer.com/CatalogProductList/pistols-1911.aspx and the Dan Wesson Valor 1911 as well. They are all sold as such and use 1911 as the official, in factory product name. The 'Series 70 Commander' one is more a moniker that has gotten misleading and leads to arguments. The only arguments you get over a SIG 1911 and a Colt M1911 is the purist going 'but it isn't a REAL 1911' etc. :D

However here is the original commercially made mini-1911 that doesn't feature 1911 in the name at all:

  14. True, but only two designs hold the name as being the only moniker assigned to them, the rest are just sales gimmicks.

The old M&P was only changed so people didn't confuse it with other designs. Hell people even confused them with Colt Police revolvers and that is like thinking a Browning High Power and a 1911A1 are the same gun, sure they are similar but damn.

Might consider a 2.5" for a pouch gun or something. Not sure as I have my eyes on far too many things.

    'FireKnife'

  15. Actually the original M&P is a specific model of revolver that later got renamed the Model 10 when S&W went over to numbering.

The present M&P is meant to be it's spiritual evolution of 100 years later (given that there is about 100 years from the original, most commonly known M&P and the year of release for the polymer framed handgun). I was corrected after making the same mistake too though.

  16. Had a KSC one ages ago. They are odd shaped guns to hold, feels almost like the gun is as long as it is tall.

Still the WA ones were nice, the KSC one I had developed a habit where the safety would go too far up if you let it flick back on it's own.
