  1. Sorry guys but it's me again...

Is this the APS CAM 870 thread or the general shotgun / RS shotgun discussions thread ? :(

It is the discuss whatever people want to discuss thread. Pointing out every thread that you like that goes off topic just seems pedantic. Just steer the thread back the way you want by asking or adding something as you did in your following post ;).

However it is related, I was pointing out that while I see the fun factor there just doesn't seem to be much in the way of loading that isn't cumbersome and more designed for practical shooting than combat which was relating to in airsoft how realistic feeding shotguns feel a bit like realistic feeding revolvers, heavily limited though at least with revolvers you have smaller shells to load etc.

  2. Oh, you mean like what these very real military guys are doing with their AKs in an actual simulation/exercise? Can't get any more milsim than that I'm afraid.

You'll find that this is common practice by military and police around the world. The purpose is to shorten the length of the weapon especially if you have a long one to begin with when engaging in tight spaces where good aim and recoil management are secondary.

In that case would not hip fire or just bothering to invest in a folding stock for your troops help? :P

In fact doesn't that model have a folding stock anyway? Also sidearms help.

But yes that over the shoulder thing has it's uses when you have a wrong gun in the wrong place situation but when it comes to a typical game and people just don't know which bits goes where then it makes me laugh.

  3. Because a stripper clip of 5 rifle bullets takes up less space than two shotgun shells side by side.

It is just due to the ammo being fired that makes it less practical in the field over other things. Hence why shotguns are often used in combat with either a specific purpose or it is because that is all the attacker has (given that it is easier to buy a shotgun in some places than a handgun ot rifle).

I see the point in matches and such but as for airsoft in terms of a skirmish I will stick to things like the Marui system :P.

  4. Since there's mention of a need for speed, has anyone tried out if these work?

Well that is about as practical as taking an AEG and having bloke (your valet) follow you around and load the stupid thing for you :P.

Especially the longer ones that are meant to load like 8 or 9 shells into extended tubes.

  5. I will admit as awesome as this shotgun is for practial options Marui kind got it right with the gas M870. As funs as the APS is I would use it if airsoft had more 3-gun or PSG events ;).

But then there is nothing more fun than watching someone come into a doorway, shotgun levelled in the 45 degree angle, fire a round and rack a spent shell into their own face :P.

Though as for the competitive over combat well that is always going to be the way. Pistols are the same as I would happily run a Fobus 1911 mag pouch in a shoot event but in a woodland game I would just not trust it to do the same job as a closed flap pouch, even if said closed flap is slower.

Also now I want a proper Way of the Gun style game. Lost of pistols and covering fire that isn't just random shots in a game but actually has a purpose :).

  6. What Service Level Agreement do you have with the hosting provider? Normally they'll have a response time SLA, and a fix time. Would be good to know for the future. And that "Just couldn't be got to" is BS (Not from you - coming from them!). They should be able to give you far more detail than that.

We have a SLA system setup at work. Never kept to it and no-one cares as even then we are still faster than other companies. Seems to be people are expecting it nowadays which isn't on.

Plus it helps if the company at the other end has the staff to deal with it. They probably see this as a general interest forum and think 'eh, who cares'. Well I *fruitcage*-ing care :D.

  7. You could have one on each leg side for different shells or one for shot and one for about to shoot?

True though it is not amazing but loose shotgun shells does seem to be a way that people carry them in bulk when all they have to do is load, shoot and forget.

But then that is like comparing speed / competitive shooting with combat shooting. In speed you are either static or only moving short distances so you can carry other options. In combat you need to move and not have pouches that can easily eject the contents off your mags everywhere. :).

  8. It goes in the bin.

As does the rest if the gun.

Then you buy a better gun, a nice WE for half the price.

But seriously I have no idea looks like it could be one of two or three springs. Don't tell me the gun doesn't have an exploded diagram in the manual? :P

  9. I think that is just a dump pouch or smilar, one of the zip open ones. One of the advantages of a real shotgun being you don't have to pick the shells back up :P.

Have seen that shootout scene far too many times now, about the only 6 mins worth watching of that film (aside from the random punch up and odd five min shootout before this one). Also at 2.15 that is how most people seem to take hits in CQB around here about two seconds late ;).

EDIT: Oh and 2.20 is the perfect time to watch for a reload of the shotgun.

  10. So finally managed to run my XDM for half of a series of night games.

Ran like a beauty on Ultra and chronoed near the 275 mark on .2s in a slightly cold room.

The sights made it very easy to hit with and the clean breaking trigger allowed for swift shots (few non-hit takes got two in the chest rather that one).

Can't fault it and as mentioned elsewhere at some point I will put up a comparison between this and the M&P9.

    'FireKnife'

  11. So took this to a game last night and it probably saw all of 8-10 magazines all on Ultra.

It is a beast of a gun and I didn't have a single fault bar my own issue with double loading it after chronoing it. Chronoed at a healthy 270 on Ultra in a somewhat cold room.

Can't fault it at all bar the rather small front sight for such a modern pistol (compared to the big *albatross* ones on the XDm).

I will do a proper comparison review between the XDM and M&P9 at some point, a kind of polymer, striker, non-Glock debate :P.

  12. Can't beleave they have sold out in places with that crazy price tag and not so great rep with lack of base plate for dot sight and reports of bad blowback action after only a couple of hundred bbs. There is even a rumered version 2 coming soon and as I see they are back up for pre order again I think it's a possibility.

I think that might be because of one simple thing. It is the only FNX out there so $225 is like it or lump it as you ain't getting another option.

I agree it is rubbish how this has been handled and the price isn't really worth it from what I have seen but I suppose when you have the one design around you are going to get people that sadly just accept it and pay the frankly astronomical fees.

Unless WE suddenly pop one out :P.

  13. If I recall the Marui was something like 50-60 wasn't it?

But they may be making that 80 shots assumption on 144a which may provide more shots then the likes of Green while saying it can also take Green.

Plus from what I have seen isn't an actual Marui gas tank for the M870 about the same price when bought in HK? Would need to see this in a non-retailer viewing first to see if it is worth it ;).

    'FireKnife'

  14. Eh, each to their own :P.

I still find the kick coming out of my TM XDM on Ultra to be pretty hard to beat by any other gun (excluding of course using highly unsafe options or fully custom built guns with steel components that cost 5 times as much).

Also had a shot of the M&P today on Ultra. The kick is there but it still feels to me more like a Glock on Green than the XDM or PX4. Though I must admit that may be to do with things like hand position and bore height over grip which can make a big difference. When I have given both the XDM and the M&P a shoot on Tuesday at a game I will see how well they do.

    'FireKnife'

  15. Well that does depend if you really need that performance from your pistol too :).

I go with Marui as they work for a pistol primary both indoors and out. Where it not the case and that could be said of KWA I would be running with them.

However for just holster filling maybe the cheaper WE is better or the looks of the VFC appeal more?

Perhaps Delta we just demand more from our pistols and are welcome to pay that extra? :P

    'FireKnife'

  16. Marui were last to the market but as someone who own WE, VFC and TM M&Ps, I'd say they are the most overall successful.

I think that last sentiment works for just about all their guns, the only ones I have seen people consistently say are better than the Marui version is the KWA/KSC HK45.

    'FireKnife'

  17. For once Marui were last to the party so this time the mags are unique in their design.

Also tried mine on Ultra last night, feels the temperature is about right so I am not worried about it going wrong. Still gives a very nice kick and can't wait to field it either this Sunday or Tuesday.

  18. Well I am looking at the AKS-74U, personally my favourite design.

However this is only a wishful purchase but it is the 'latest model' according to airsoft world and the quality does look good, have even held it in the store to see.

Just now wondering what the FPS from one will be like........
