  1. Nice username, bit fond of the Columbian marching powder are we? :D;)

Further to Darklite's brief eulogy on the nature of Kuan Ju Works as an airsoft retailer: KJW are very poo, most of the time ... ;)

KJ largely make copies of Marui gas handguns and Tanaka gas rifles, and do so very well for the money - but their materials and quality control is often lacklustre and the finished products often bear a large proportion of `lemons` - i.e. guns what don't even work proper, like.

Their USPs/P8s are particularly bad, almost all of them being utter ###### in fact, whereas their Glocks are almost all good, generally being the most efficient cheap sidearm money can buy*.

The beretta range are somewhere in the middle showing a large proportion of good-enough quality (although with vast numbers of these displaying pitted metal casting and similar aesthetic faults) products, and also with KJ Works you have the further advantage of choosing a full metal or metal slided variant for a price still lower than the regular TM (or whoever: insert mainstream manufacturer here) alternative.

Still - they are the original clone artists, originating in Taiwan and making good business out of that country's lower production overheads in relation to Japan, and though thye clone market has exploded it took a long time for KJW to be sufficiently bucked so as to buck up their own ideas of quality control, and produce modern, efficent and high quality runs of merchandise that they surely do today; buy KJW because they surely must compete well enough in modern markets to deliver the promises their products make, however if you're in doubt, be sure to buy from reputable retailers who are likely to have up-top-date stock, and are known to rectify problems if and when they arise.

    Here endeth the lesson.

    All rise.... ;)

*Okay it's just an opinion, but all my KJ glocks (3 so far) have been monstrous performers and have strewn more goodwill and goodness than most of my other GBBs made by more commonplace manufacturers: KSC, I'm looking at you....

  2. That *suitcasey* weather someone mentioned is the best - overcast skys give the best possible light for photographing still life, although it's been so long since I contirbuted I'm working from distant memory here ;)

...speaking of which, whoever wanted my TLE/II is in luck, PM me it ya still interested :)

  3. Little offer for anyone wanting to help a hippy and make themselves a few quid; I am too lazy to do this, as usual, but if someone can find a black threaded outer barrel, black trigger and black hammer for an SCW2 Kimber TLEII, and fit them to the gun which I will send to you, then there's £15 in it for you plus the cost of return postage.

For you guys who know where all this stuff is and can reassemble a WA 1911 in seconds then it is eeeeeeaaasy money :)

All new or very little used bits, by the way, and I'm not too fussed about which style of trigger or hammer to be honest; just give me the choices, I will give you the answers.

Oh and of course buy the bits myself too, obviously ;)

  4. Good question, and yes, as suspected the 8mm version of the gun will fire 8mm and 6mm shells - each variant has an inner barrel particular to the ammo size it's meant to use.

Loading the 8mm shells with 6mm in the middle: no reason why you can't do this and yes, the spread will certainly be even better this way!! I really have to get the pins fixed on my 8mm version now too so I can use it properly!!

  5. Though you should see some of evilhippy's pictures from about this time last year.  Lovely carpet/lighting combinations

hehehe, mate, you should see some of the pictures I took for my sales threads last week, man, dreadful - but I don't have the time to photograph 150 things properly.

    Unfortunately.

  6. *raises handbag*

Edit: damn. If kindly mods could just switch mine and Guinness' last comments around then this part of the threads will look a whole lot funnier, cheers ;):D

But yes, in all seriousness, it takes time and effort to get good pictures and they are rarely given much sign of appreciation, and those who get good pics are providing you all with original, quality content - and it's done entirely voluntarily.

More effort from everyone would increase the quality of this old internet malarkey a whole sh**load, don't you agree? I mean, I dont want to sound like a f**king hippy or anything, but....

  7. Thats a nice picture. The ones of stock TM 1911s taken deep inside the batcave are not :P

It is pointless taking pics of a stock gun when the lighting is frankly p**s-poor. There's a bit of common sense involved, basically; and folks getting gently ribbed for rather pointless pictures will learn what that is :)

And you need to stop being confrontational dude :P its only the intornhets lol rofl lmao ;)

    :D

  8. I never look at low quality pictures; there's just no point, it has to be said.

For me they just waste precious nanoseconds in terms of extra page loading times :P

The problem is that not everyone has access to a decent camera but everyoe with access to a camera wants to share pictures of their babies. So:

    Here's a suggestion:

Whatever picture-taking equipment you have, take pictures in daylight on an overcast day when the sun is shinng behind a wall of bright white cloud.

Wait for the overcast days - I do, so can you.

Take them outside, out of any overhead shade, so the full, white light hits the subject (the gun).

Look through the viewfinder/screen of your camera and move around the subject doing so, until the gun is lit well on all angles and surfaces, without any glares, and without any big dark areas.

Enjoy the fact that you are now taking better pictures than you have ever done before :D

Edit: The first person who says they can't wait for those overcast days because they never have time off work to get daylight pictures will receive an e-Smackupsidethehead from the guy who works 6 days a week and, between skirmishing all day and doing all the other silly *beep*, is damn busy on Sundays too (me) ;)

  9. I could kinda feel sorry for some people, people that you wouldn't think needed any sympathy, any sympathy at all.

The first people to make a longslide for airsoft 1911s will have to bear the children of everyone subscribed to this thread, for starters :D

  10. Yeah I reckon so. One disappears and another one crops right up - they say there's one born every minute but on Arnies, its truer than ever

Whats a good price for an older SCW M8045 to people in the UK? I'm not sure how realistically mine is priced as I would like about £120 for it, but I guess thats a touch too much still...?

    Thoughts, anyone? :)

Incidentally, here it is in all it's bad-photo-eye-massacre glory :P

  11. The background to that picture looks like the same background that the rest of the guns from that film were shot against, plus the gunsmith has the same name iirc ;)

So yeah - who wants to make that exact gun for me then? :D Cash prize on offer. Seriously.
