sometimes adding a * to the beginning or end of your word will help. but other times you're up a creek.

It has to do with the indexing. If it can ignore all words that are 3 characters or less then the index files are a hell of a lot smaller. It also prevents searches like "what is the best AEG" and other noob searches that eat up bandwidth. It also kills the ability to search for a specific type of gun. Try to think of as many 4 character names for guns, they can be counted on two hands.
