    AGM M4 GBB

What I envision is a hardened BCG and a hardened catch seated in a steel firing block. Or maybe the block needs a mechanism that keeps catch positively engaged or positively disengaged. The magazine activates the mechanism while the bolt release button just resets it. One major flaw to the current design is the location of the axis for the bolt catch. It needs to be located closer to where the catch on a real AR is.

    AGM M4 GBB

Yeah, shaving down the o-ring not recommended. Your inbox is full Luis, btw. I picked up a used AGM earlier this week as I need a test platform for a series of parts Im making. First on the list has been a CrMo bolt carrier and loading nozzle, both of which utilize a design which is a slight departure from the WA design. The more I look at the current bolt design I start to think that the major fault isn't necessarily weak materials (though they really are), but also the poor design of the bolt catch. Im starting to think that an improved bolt catch that engages the bolt differently

I dont think these are merely dumped INO carriers. I think JDT got ahold of leaked plans and made their own. Whether or not those plans were pre-release prints of final prints is the question. Just my theory. Either way, Im sure with modification these can be made to work.

Does the bolt move smoothly in and out of the carrier? Perhaps under pressure the o-ring is expanding too much causing excessive friction during cycling. And improperly sized o-ring or ring gland could cause such a situation. If anybody had the bore diameter, o-ring size, bolt diameter, and gland dimensions I can do the calculations to determine if it is correctly designed, and if not, what size o-ring would be ideal.

Ill do it wherever I need to to get the weight down to an acceptable level. The prime locations are a good start but I wonder if it will be enough.

I can lighten up anyones JDT carriers on my cnc machine by removing some material. PM me if interested.

Your best bet is to do a special order through airsoftadvantage.com. You will likely only pay 10-15 dollars over the WGC price. So, 290 max.

When Raven1 and I split his magazines we were also very impressed by TK's mag design. Its no wonder it seals and works so well. The design is just great. Let's hope the stanags are equally robust.

Quick note to those of you interested in the piston and velocity reducer. The project is still under way. We are waiting for a few parts from KJW to get measurements from. Updates to follow.

Thats how I originally contacted them. Raven1 may have another address.

Perhaps this implies that the TK designed M4's made for the Japanese market will be manufactured in house by TK and that they will not service export models made by KJW, and vice versa. After all if he said "they will not provide aftersales support for KJW manufactured versions" that would imply that they are making a version of the gun. It would be logical to assume that version is the Japanese version. I would assume rather than outsource production again they would most likely just assemble the guns in Japan with a few different parts similar to a KSC/KWA arrangement. The fact that

Of course I understand the usual increases in performance. My point was that the stock barrel seems pretty good already compared to stock barrels in a lot of other guns Ive handled/owned.

I wasnt aware anyone else had a problem with bbs rolling out... strange. It would be really interesting to see how much better a tbb is than the stock barrel. The stock barrel seems pretty decent to me.

Just to get a sense for demand... Who is interested in a FPS reducer? For those interested: would you rather buy the o-ring piston head separately or combined with the flow reducer components? -and- are you interested in purchasing a complete BGC with all the parts preinstalled? (Several FPS options would be available). After getting together with Raven1 this weekend we saw another potential design option and I am pursuing that at the moment rather than my original concept. For this reason no photo/video has been posted. The current FPS reducer design is NOT adjustab

Im working on an FPS adjustment system. Hopefully raven1 and I can get together in the next few days and get it tested. Of course results will be posted here as well as plenty of pictures of the finished product.
  16. golgo: if your star pmags are anything like mine were they need a little love to feed perfectly. What I did was used a round file and took a TINY amount of material off of the front of the bb catch on each magazine. They stick just a little too far out for use with the KA hop up feed tube and dont get pressed far enough back for bbs to get by smoothly. I did this to all 10 of my magazines as well as a squirt of silicone down the tube and they now all feed flawlessly.

When I took a look I was doing so with the intent of figuring out a pmag/midcap mod. I walked away feeling like that really isnt going to happen with these mags. They are just too big when compared to a pmag or stanag and the feeding mechanism is designed in such a way I dont think expanding the capacity is possible. Its a downer but Im content to modify my shooting behavior until in lieu of midcaps (that is, until someone releases one). Ive toyed with the idea of remaking the lower 2/3rds of the mag out of aluminum billet and making the outside shaped in such a way that it could fit i

The gas reservoir is quite large in the thermold mags. When Raven1 and I had his apart it seemed like the mag is 75% reservoir. The expansion chamber took up a bit of room in the upper third of the mag. Certainly a stanag could be made with a slightly smaller reservior and only get 10-15 fewer shots per mag. The question is, how to petition KJW to make them... And, no, I wouldnt like to see another company make them because theyre likely not going to be as amazingly leak free as the KJW mags, will lack an expansion chamber, and will cost double or more what KJW would ask for them.

It is held in place via a M5x.8 bolt through the back side of the bolt carrier. Very sturdy.

6061-T6 aluminum billet. Cost right now is TBD pending testing. Its hard to price something out if Im not sure this is a final revision (it probably isn't as I want to get firm engineering numbers for ring gland width and depth as well as source o-rings that will last a long time with propane use). Holes in the piston head are not really necessary here as a properly cut ring gland allows the o ring to exert all the force necessary for a good seal. Pricing will be posted after I can ensure it will outlast the life of the gun and also pending permission from a Mod to post commercial-ish

Prototype O-ring piston complete. Still have to test it but it seals very well currently. Sorry for the poor image quality. Better pics coming soon.

The piston cup is a fair amount larger on the KJW unfortunately than any piston cup Ive ever seen for gbb pistols. Ill post pics of my prototype o ring piston this weekend for any interested parties.

    KJW M4

If you think about it though, the cup would be deformed outward during the blowback cycle to create a good seal as well as during the return stroke of the bolt, except air is causing the deformation during the latter phase. The back of the bolt is open to normal atmostpheric pressure during blowback so no pressure is built up behind the cup. And during the part of the cycle where the bolt returns to the carrier pressure can be vented to atmosphere through the gas inlet on the bottom of the bolt. An o-ring can theoretically be used here because of those facts. This has been done as well in m

Output with duster should be in the 350fps range perhaps slightly more. However, Im working on an FPS adjsutment system that we will have test fitted in raven1's gun before too long. Keep checking back to see how that test goes. Supposing it goes well and works as intended I may be willing to make a few for those interested. As well we are working on an new piston design which removes the piston cup and instead uses an o-ring.

After seeing so many people say "I'd get this but without spare parts support I don't feel comfortable" I decided to email KJW directly and asked how I could buy spare parts if something broke. They said, "If your M4 was made by our company. You can purchase a replacement part from us. Please tell me what part number you need. I’ll quote you soon. Thanks!" So it would appear that KJW is clearly willing to work directly with customers in getting spare parts. I dont know what payment methods they would accept but I would imagine that can be sorted fairly easily. Anyways,
