  1. Hi gents, long time no see.  I cant believe the thread hasnt seen any action in about a month. Ill get to the meat of it...

We've got an opportunity to bring the M4 STANAGS over in bulk.  Im trying to feel the group here out to see what kind of interest there is in the mags.  Price would be approx. $52 USD.

    Let me know!

  2. Havent posted back in here for a while now.  Quick update about orders and ordering from the Cradle Website.  Some people may have had some delays over the past month or so in having their packages ship.  We were just too far behind getting parts machined, anodized, assembled, etc.  The backlog is behind us now and we have a new team member dedicated EXCLUSIVELY to filling orders.  So most orders are shipping out same day, with worst case being 24 hours. (Excluding most weekends and holidays, naturally).

So, thanks for sticking with us through the rough moments!

Also, looking to start stocking spare bolt cup assemblies for V1/V1+ rifles.  I suppose if demand is there we can look at doing rubbers too.  Either stocking the KJW part #20 or doing our own.  Ive got a great shop that does fantastic rubber parts we can speak with if you guys express interest.

    Cheers, T

BTW, any of you who have interest in AEG related items, youll want to keep your eyes firmly planted on our website and/or the news page in the coming weeks. We've got some doozies....

  3. Im pretty sure I responded to that email.  Cyberspace ate it maybe?  Spam folder?  I answer so many emails I can't really remember them all.

    In any case:

Id say its unlikely we will be doing any type of conversion for buckings or hop units.  The KJW market is pretty limited.  R&D time is absolutely consumed right now with other work. Just not a good fit at this point.

  4. +1 on the v1 compatibility issue Frog.  I reported early on when I got mine that I was having issues, and I've come to the conclusion that it's definitely the something within the V1 lower that's the culprit.

Here's how I've come to that conclusion.  I tested the v1+ w/ my v1 lower extensively, including swapping out springs, etc. and it still seems to have what I would call a light strike issue.

Recently, I purchased a v2 lower from Paul202.  I dropped one of my v1 uppers onto it w/ the v1+ bcg, and it seems to work flawlessly.

As for the Cradle loader, I've tried it on a couple mags, all of which are v1, and it's definitely pretty snug.  Seems to feed pretty well, but I want to give it a bit more testing w/ each of my other mags.  It looks awesome, and I'm definitely excited to have it!

If you are having light strikes make sure that your guide rod moves smoothly through the range of motion the carrier makes.  I do this with the carrier out of the gun.  Basically make sure the underside of the guide tab that locks into the rear of the receiver isnt hanging up on the carrier body.  Light rub is fine.  Binding is bad.  Ive seen that some guide rods are pretty out of spec on that part of the casting and some even have nasty mold lines that rub quite badly on the carrier.  A light filing of that portion of the guide rod can free up the movement of the carrier.

Yes, the loaders are tight and were designed to be. We found that any lateral slop made for less than perfect loading some of the time.  So we opted for snug as opposed to a misfeed.  The paint finishes are inconsistent in thickness it seems, as well.  We averaged out thicknesses the best we could so some may find a mag tight and another only snug.  Everything should wear in just fine.

It was amazing to see just how sensitive the internal features of the loaders were to tolerance deviations during machining.  It took us a while to come up with a machining strategy that gave us perfect results. The loaders are, in fact, a very tight tolerance part.

  5. To answer some previous questions about the loader:

    1. It works with any mag speed loader designed for AEGs.

    2. Pricing is going to be $45.

Check the website Saturday/Sunday for ordering.

  6. The section that sits completely inside the magwell is almost identical across all models of magazines.  Its the exposed part that varies.  Look specifically at the area just below the magwell lip.  The thermolds are wide and almost sit far enough out the be flush with the outside dimensions of the lower receiver.  The other style magazines hold the internal magwell dimension all the way down.

  7. @T_hum

Would the CAA style magazines be an option? They have released their own brand CAA AEG mags, but if i remember correctly its King Arms that produces them, so a license deal might not be impossible, CAA is pretty open to business proposals.

First time Ive ever looked at their products.  They look fairly nice.  Really the issue here would be the same as any magazine thats thinner than the thermold design.  Stanag, Pmag, Caa, etc.  TK made the top seal extend internally into that top nub around the magazine that touches the underside of the mag well.  So if you make the mag thinner up there for aesthetics you also cut away most of the sealing surface.  The obvious solution is to scap using the KJW upper portion of the magazine as well as the lower but by then you are starting the whole mag from scratch.  $$$$

  8. $5.15 priority flat rate to the continental US. Rates just went up for international customers due to the 2013 USPS rate hikes.  Domestic mail seems to have only fluctuated by 10 cents or so while international has gone up by about $6.

I find this may be a good time to reiterate that we dont make a red cent on shipping and we don't charge handling fees so when our shipping prices go up its not us gouging our customers.  Blame USPS.

  9. BTW t_hum, is there any ETA on the speed loaders/stalag magazine shells? When reading throguh this thread I know you were trying to produce mag shells, you didn't want to make Pmags be ause of copyright violations, however it seemed like you still planned on producing Stanags.

The speed loader adapters are finishing up at anodize today (that deep sexy red color the new reducers are so you cant lose it on the field) so I would expect to have them on the website by mid to late next week.  There are limited quantities on these at the moment so strike quickly.

STANAGS are proving to be tricky.  Due to the way the thermold mags bulge out at the upper seal makes doing an authentic looking STANAG hard/unlikely.  So until we can devote more time to solving that puzzle its going to remain half baked.  We got busy again right after we machined the speed loader adapters so who knows when the next window of opportunity will arrive.  Ill keep you all in the loop.

  10. I don't think they're even available. AFAIK they've been "coming soon" for well over a year. There isn't any way to buy them on their site last time I checked. Maybe they'll forever be vaporware.

  11. @t_hum Are you planning on ending the sale for your BCG's anytime soon? I am waiting until you release your new mag loader, however I'd be pretty mad if I waited to buy them together and then the price was raised.

The BCG and all other products should remain in our catalog for as long as we are in business which looks to be quite some time. I wouldnt expect much price variation in the short term either.

  12. I always have posts sent to my phone so Im current on the thread even if Im not regularly posting.  Hut is right though, I do get busy and can sometimes take a day or two to respond to PMs.

Fire a PM away though, Paul.  Ill be sure to respond quickly.

  13. In testing I found two methods work and work well in conjunction.

Figure out how many BBs per stroke your loader feeds.

On the final strokes pay attention to resistance.

I can fill the mag pretty easily. Seems like it gives less resistance than with the stock loader.

  14. Doing a full barrel line is one of our goals for the year so we will see how we fare.  As usual I think our proposed technique for making barrels is quite different from other manufacturers.  Time will tell...

  15. The main reason was twofold:

    1. Cost. By the time I bought barrels at wholesale prices, put them in the lathe, packaged them in tubes, paid extra for shipping, etc. I was making almost no money for quite a bit of work.

    2. I got the barrels through a friend of mine who owned the local airsoft shop who was kind enough to order the barrels along with those for his shop.  He recently passed away as a result of a brain tumor.

The v2 bolt doesnt have a "piston" per se.  The seal is part of the bolt and remaking the bolt was going to make it a costly part.  I knew as soon as I initially tested the v2 that it would make more sense to rework and offer a V1 variant than to put a bandaid on the v2.

  16. We aren't doing barrels at the moment. Its a long story but the plan at this point is to not do barrels again until we can make them affordably for the entire airsoft market, ie AEG, GBBR, Pistol, etc. It costs too much to buy and then modify existing barrels and making from scratch requires very high volume to justify the up front costs.  So we opt to wait until we find the right moment to justify upfront costs.

Now that the site is live and updated its safe to assume that if it isnt on the site, we dont sell it.
