  1. Thats the most realistic wood effect i've seen! TM should use it on their ak's. I see what you mean now- I know of bakelite, but this is the first time i've handled it. cheers, matt
  2. Angola? No- Congo/Biafra, 1964 onwards; Mike Hoare's lot (5 Commando) -Matt
  3. I'm going to put mid-cap internals in, but I havn't got any yet. I do have one steel mag I converted; it's hard work, but it can be done and the results are great. You can use any nmag internals, but hi-caps are more complicated than mid or lo cops, as you have to cut a slot in the magazine plate. I used grim's guide: http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/inde...041&hl=grim good luck, matt
  4. Get some "bakelite" ones.... I was hacking one up today, it was dead easy. Much to my surprise, it was made of resin coated plywood! No wonder they're wood "effect". I put it on my akms , and it looks the chunkies. -matt
  5. Seewulfehornblower, can you please send me you're email adress? The Pm system won't let me send you one, so sorry for having to post that here. -matt
  6. My latest 1967 congo merc impression, getting pretty accurate too: posted this in the merc section, but I think it's relevant here too. -matt
  7. My team in our og's on our first ever skirmish: 60's mercs, but lacking a lot of the correct equipment at that point. I'm on the left. -matt
  8. In ym epxerience, I find if you are using flash, a cloth background (i.e camo jacket) will absorb a lot of excess light, getting less shine in the photo, as will taking the photo from further away and using optical zoom, so the light is less concentrated. If you can, take your pics outside in broad daylight, and again use a background (outside, trees, grass etc are all good). cheers, matt
  9. Stage two of my AKMS, now with the RMW kit installed: The bits left to do are the sight block, the gas tube and front sight. Does anyone sell AKM front sights/gas blocks by themselves? cheers, matt
  10. Mr Darcy: Thats his gun, not mine btw -matt
  11. My custom built Sterling L2a3 (not made by me i'm afraid): Took about a year and a half to get built, made by Trapper industries then finished by Andy Saville- he made it work reliably and made the curved mag. I'm kind of tempted to sell this- what sort of capital would people be willing to pay for it? matt
  12. Heres the work so far on my AKMS- Cyma Ak47 Real Steel wood handguards converted real steel magazine ACM ribbed receiver cover, flash suppressor (needs a little tlc) and acm bakelite grip Botched cyma recever- the stock fell off on the first skirmish and I made a bad job of filling the holes and trying to convert the receiver to the akm type. Next step is an RMW akms receiver/stock set, followed by RS gas block and front sight, then finally g&p metal sight block. -matt

  14. There all on image shack- i'll resize next time I upload any -matt
  15. cheers, and i'd like to add I don't usually look that psychotic; as my boss said, it's the rakish angle of my beret -matt
  16. Alan, SAS (security advisory service) merc, Angola 1976: Nick, same: Myself, 5 commando, 1964: -matt
  17. Started weaterinf my a&k minimi this evening, I think it looks okay, but needs a little more work in some places: do you think the lkeft hand side needs more sanding? also, does the stock look unrealistic? I suppose if I had really bad stubble it wouldn't be too bad also, my waethered m9 with home made wood grips: cheers, matt
  18. my lot, executive incomes, based on 60's south african mercenaries: (i'm on the far left in the lizard shirt) cheers matt
