Finally managed to find a VFC 9" HK417 rail for sale that wasn't silly expensive.

Me trying out the somewhat oversized Sumrak suit on sunday at local game.
Actually looks about right tbh, the bagginess of the suits does help break up the shape of the body (and is a *fruitcage* godsend in hot weather)

Words from HK is saying that full steel builds based on the latest Umarex / VFC Glock kicks harder than a TM Glock with Volante BBU by a significant margin, which in my book pretty much puts it on top. I'm trying not to think too much about it at the moment as I have four TM Glock steel builds so that's giving me major FOMO.
I'd wait for a bit to see how the longevity is. For what it's worth, I've had to fix one of the new Umarex/VFC G17s which had borked a recoil spring and it was pretty standard VFC, lovely externals, meh internals, questionable reliability. With the bonus of horrendous prices for Co2 magazines.

Hmm, would be interesting, but Brexit and rif importation for a game could get tricky or worse.
Don't worry, if Brexit happens you'll be able to buy a TM recoil shock in the UK for about 3 potatoes

Yeah the problem is for everyone here but thee and me:
Theoretically a block booking in a hotel or an airbnb etc would do, but schlepping gear to and fro on busses sounds far less interesting than beer and burgers around a campfire...
Though if we can find a couple of sites near each other, one running Saturday one on Sunday lodgings between the two might make for a decent long weekend of pew-pew glug-glug nom-nom...
Fair, but there is plenty of room on the site to set up tents and such. I can ask and see, worst they can say is no!

Is there a party pad/field for camping?
Not really, but it's a 20 minute bus ride from the city center.

I'd totally be up for another ArnieGedds!
I have the ear of my local site up in Edinburgh and they've got some great terrain... thoughts?- 2

TM AK47 because it has a 600 round hicap and you can fit a large 8.4v nicad in the butt

280 FPS with .25g ? Seem pretty weak.....
He has a restrictor disc installed to reduce the power output to UK legal levels.
As for gas efficiency, have you checked the seal on the nozzle o-ring?- 1

Why do I still not have one.
I do want a kobra too...
Further offtopic, Darklite, what camo pattern is that rifle atop of? I can't quite put a name to it but it seems familiar.
Tis the Russian Border Guard camo - proganininininininikhikhikhihkhihkhihkhiihkhihkhihkik

Aye, you'd think that RATech would actually test things before selling them though, tolerance issues become apparent the moment you try to cycle the bolt. Madness.

Impressions so far (no range or game time on it)
Overall build quality seems good. You could probably tell someone it was the WE version and unless they owned one they wouldn’t know. Plastic is a nice rough finish, not smooth and empty feeling like a JG.
Bolt has the same issue as the MP7 from Marui. With the bolt at the rear, gun raised, loaded mag in, sending the bolt home is rather pathetic and did lead to a couple of light strikes. Since finding a 110-120% spring seems difficult, I’ve found another spring the same diameter but shorter, and used that as a buffer at the end. Improvement for sure but still not ideal. Feed lips on the mags aren’t too hard and stiff.
Mags are a pain in the backside, but for design reasons, not Airsoft ones. They weigh nearly a kg each, and all the tabs and rims on them mean a 5.56 magazine won’t fit a standard 5.56 pouch. No idea if a magwell conversion is actually possible as I’m sure I’ve seen purchasing G36 parts is illegal in this country.
Takedown is ridiculously simple. I have a newfound respect for the real platform!
Front rails removed, rote he slapped on, MOE rail and an X200 put on (better positioning)
All that’s left before Sunday’s outing is to change the hip rubber and install a restrictive disc, although if I don’t get the time it shouldn’t be too big a problem, as I’m only going to use it indoors anyway.Magwell conversions aren't possible, alas, as the gas routers and feed lips etc don't line up.
Are you having issues with the bolt not seating into battery properly?
In terms of bolt catch - the WE's system is actually unrealistic - the real G36 will lock open on empty, but there's no bolt release button - the button that WE uses as a bolt release is actually a manual bolt hold open for manually locking the bolt open for inspection - you just pull the cocking handle to the rear and let go.
Magazine wise, yeah, the side lugs are annoying as *suitcase* - there are plenty of pictures of KSK members in the field either running G36 Pmags or having cut the side lugs off and taped up the mags. It's not too bad if you're running the german army g36 pouches but literally any other pouch will snag like hell. -

My personal .300BLK AAC GBBR.
Based on a WE with a full RATech build, internally and externally, she's had a LOT of work put in to get it shooting well, because apparently RATech's QC is so bad that an RATech GBBR built BY RATech with RATech externals and RATech internals won't work properly because of poor tolerances and fitting issues.
Internally:
- FG Airsoft Speed buffer and spring
- Stock WE nozzle with a 150% return spring and a restrictor disc
- RATech steel BCG
- RATech steel hop-up unit
- RATech steel FCG
- PDI 6.05x150mm carbon steel tightbore
- Mapleleaf Monster 50deg hop up rubberExternally:
- Guarder AAC URX3 8.0
- RATech steel 8" barrel
- Guarder steel low-profile gas block
- Strike Industries polymer dust cover
- Random angled foregrip thing
- G&P Troy style BUIS
- MFT minimalist stock
- MFT trigger guard
- MFT pistol grip
- Real Magpul ASAP plate
- Real Kobra RDS
- Mini PBS-1 suppressor
- WE PMagsShe's currently doing about 1.2J on propane, though she has a second CQB legal nozzle that drops it to 0.8J on propane. She's got a hell of a kick, though!

No worries, I've seen a few broken charging handles but that seemed to be down to the hamfistedness ratings of the owners.
They have the same barrel wobble issues as the WE, but FG make parts to fix that:

From what I remember of the first gen R36s:
100% clones of the WE
Nozzle isn't great, can be a bit fragile, but the WE is a drop in replacement
Stock Hop up rubber is pretty gash, would replace with a maple leaf
Magazines generally good but sometimes come out of the box with leaks, in most cases simply a case of strip down, regrease, rebuild- 1

Big GBBR mags tend to be very good for that as they have proportionately a much higher ratio of gas to bbs.
I've been trying to get a look at the internals of the magazine, I had hoped that with all the space available you could get a GHK style dual chamber design in for more reliability. -

1) The coupling valve (gun end) isn't seating well (probably from being mashed). Take the valve out and lightly ream the hole it sits in to give it more wiggle room.
2) The coupling valve (mag end) and its o-ring has very tight tolerances sitting in its brass sub assembly and if it shrinks just a little you get that persistent hiss. What I've found to be a surefire solution is building up the diameter of the recess for the o-ring with super glue. I put enough glue so that the lower meniscus (while still wet) is around 1/3 the depth of the pocket. I apply the glue while it's vertical in the chuck of a drill and slowly spin it for the glue to even itself out. The hard part is removing it from the chuck without disturbing the glue or you could keep it propped up in the drill until it cures.
You legend. Absolutely spot on with both fixes.

NEEEEEEEEEECRO
Got one of these in for a few fixes, got everything sorted bar two issues:
1) The internal gas tank will vent out of the top when you change magazines
2) One of the magazines is leaking out of the outlet valve and nothing I've tried so far has fixed it
Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks Dark.
I tried that, if memory serves the hip unit itself had protruding legs for the barrel to hold it still. An extra pair over the TM, which made a barrel change not possible?Maple Leaf Crazy Jet barrels are designed to fit WE GBBs and TM GBBs, they have the extra cuts.

I have a question now these have been out for a good while.
I had the kurtz model, and eventually the hop gave out. Adjustment didn’t do anything, and didn’t seem fixable from what I remember. I read a guide on how to swap out the parts for TM style rubber and barrel, but the guide was incorrect in a couple of places which made the swap not possible.
Are they still using their proprietary rubber and barrel, and how have other people’s units and rubbers held out?I swapped my full size MP5 hop and barrel out and there was no issue - the only thing is you need to switch both the barrel and hop up rubber at the same time as the new WE cut has different internal dimensions, even though the external dimensions are the same as the usual TM/WE.
I'd recommend a MapleLeaf Crazy Jet barrel and a 50 deg Super bucking. -

I suspect it would be a case of drilling it out and putting a new rivet in.

BF3, actually, it was a DLC weapon. I loved running it with the Kobra in CQB, that 2 body shot kill at close range was very handy.
