  4. if you look thought the idf thread on military photos forum you can see a far few methods
  5. i knew full well the failings of the mars when i brought my tavor so i can not complain as it was my choice
  6. Thank you, i know the review is not going to have that big a draw, but i had been looking thought zahal for some time as well looking for information and could not find much so i thought i would do somthing about it myself, just putting up the kind of information i was looking for myself
  7. you counld use the outermost pocket on the rigth of the vest as a holster for a pistol but you would need a lanyard, i will see if i can get a picture for you
  8. i think i;ve only seen one person bash the gun, of cource everyone does bash the mars , grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr dame you ares
  9. There are a number of pouch on the side of the magazine pouches, the larges is ideal for a gps/phone/small first aid kit, there as the others can fit a multi bang grenade(can not remember there name)/torch/multi tool. Id / paperwork / map holder Field Report Coming soon....
  10. Front 3 grenade sized pouchs. 4 magazine pouchs, can hold 3 m4/m16 mags or 2 ak/galil mags without issue
  11. You then have a pouch for helmet storage that rolls away, seem to be a better design than the strap system i've seem on the older vests. Another large pouch sites at the top, has an inbuilt radio pouch and openings at the top for aerials and wires, the opening are held in place with velco.
  12. Back of the vest Will start at the bottom and work my way up. The lowest pouch at the bottom on the vest is a a4 sized pouch that has an opening to the side, this closes with velco, im using the currently for the hydration system. The middle pouch is strange one, it has opening at both ends that are have Velcro closings again, i believe it is for rope but im not 100% on this, the pouch is about 80 - 100mm in diameter. There are also 2 sets of straps , these can be used to secure equipment, i used a section of foam as an example, the straps are fully adjustable and used a b
  13. Adjustment and inside the vest The vest closes at the front with a simple velcro closing and a clip at the top and bottom of the join. At the sides you find 2 rows of 3 adjustable straps, between these and the Velcro shoulder straps, the vest is easily adjustable to almost any size. Most of the straps on the vest are design to be tided away, the have a built in Velcro tags that allow to to fold up the excess material on the strap and secure it in place out of the way The inside of the vest is well thought out, you have to mesh pads on the back that sit either side
  14. Introduction The release of the ares Tavor has rekindled a long lost interest in an IDF loadout. The IDF approach to gear had always interested me, to tell the truth it is the same build philosophy that draws be the Russian gear as well, it has a no frills boot leather practicality built on years of conflict and feedback from the front, the equipment is simply used because it works many of the company's that produce the gear are run by ex IDF and the design ethos is very much driven from a foots of ground experience that is hard to match. In essence its simple, hardworking and works, what mo
  15. took the tavor out today and had the same problem very very hard to dial the hop up in at the moment, going to take it apart tomorrow and see if we can do anything about this
  16. myself i used the existing from hole and then drilled a new hole to make up with the other hole on the g36c side rail, only other thing i needed to do was dremal away a small amount of the body work, this was where the bolt came in contact with the receiver, its only an internal support does not weaken anything and can not be seen when the tavor is back together
  17. my lock seems to be for a very strange reason, issue has been tracked down to the motor in my case, the grub stress during full auto appear to tighten itself, i can watch this happening, i can correct this by simply undoing the grub strew, at the moment i can not adjust the motor height at all with out getting this problem, going to get some lock tight and see if that will keep the grub screw in place...
  18. Know considering the mars sight suck so so much i thought will i had my tavor in pieces i would have a little bit of a play with putting together a rail for mounting optics, i used a g36c side rail and some parts i had lying around. First off i put together a rail with spacers so i could use an acog. Works well, the spacers i think need to have more bulk to them as it looks a bit weak but then again the referace pictures of real steel i have look the same, also tryed the riser with a eotech. The acog looks nice and i like it unfortuntaly the quality of airsoft
  19. This is the only really tricky bit of the process, i;ve blown the light up on this picture to try and show clearly the 2 grub screws you know need to undo, the first grub screw on the top right hand side of the picture just needs to be undone. The second grub screw located on the bottom left hand side of the picture needs to be undone and then to use a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the block from the end of the shaft and place this safely to one side. This is what the piece you are removing will look like, keep it safely to one side. Know remove the above pins and the
  20. Ares Tavor TAR-21 Takedown Part 1: Removing the gearbox from the body First get everything ready you will need in a clear area, and when you have plenty of time to spare, if you are rushing as with everything we do in life you will make mistakes. Then make shore the aeg is on safe and remove the magazine and battery. Once you have removed the battery close the back plate and put the pin back in, this will stop the door being damaged as you work on the aeg. Remove the sling mount, mine was very tight and i needed to use a pin hammer ad punch. Remove the t
  21. Been doing a few posts over on boards, thought i would post them over hear as well. My tavor was delivered today, out of the box felt great mars as everyone has said is ****, i hope ares take note of what people are saying and either a) fix this on future models see the ares without the mars and add maybe a rail lowering the price, Unfortunately my gearbox locked up after 2 mags of testing and the built in gearbox reset did not seem to do the job, spent the afternoon taking apart the ares gearbox 3 times trying to improve the reliability and stop the locking up, i was semi successfu
  22. been playing about with optic as the mars is just unusable
