A few decades later: The UBR came along, and did the same job, much better.

Hell it came up with a whole new job to do, smashed that, shot up the job centre, then made love to steve jobs' wife.

Let's be honest 2 years later they had the XM177/CAR-16 stock which was better and lasted 4 decades :)

I was purely thinking within the realms of adjustable solid stocks to be honest.

  4. decisions decisions, build a M653 from G&P parts and a TM donor or just buy an XM177E2 and the M653 for-end.

    1. hwagan

      hwagan

Buy the XM and the front end. You'll sell the XM front end quickly because of the slim grips. And because G&P make the best V2 based AR AEG's available.

    2. Gigueand

      Gigueand

      Seconded. I love my G&P M733.

then xm177e2 with m653 fore-end it is for the 70s and 80s vibe

You can pay if you like, but you don't have to. I think it's great. So you're a german fan then darkmm? I seem to have more russian tanks, no real reason.

Do you get mad at the matchmaking like a lot of the forum members seem to? Personally I don't think it's that bad.

    4. DarkMM

      DarkMM

Well german so far - but I want to build to an IS-2 :) Cann't say I've seen particulary back match making, rather I see silly use of peoples equipment - it's like watching people trying to play counterstrike sometimes. But I admit some days I loose the run of myself too :).

  13. CAR15 arrives tomorrow. hihihihi :)

  20. I bet Air Marshall Arthur Harris of the RAF never went to Churchill and said - "Sorry Gov' can't bomb the Ruhr tonight we're out of spare parts"

    1. TheFull9

      TheFull9

Yeah but I bet some money grabbing defence contractor never charged the RAF millions of pounds for bits that are worth a fraction of that cost back in WWII.

You also have to understand that a Lancaster bomber could be knocked out at peak in 36 hours because there was nothing to them and there was a government behind the production. A Eurofighter is so much more advanced, complicated and packed full of electrics, hyds and electronics.

    3. TheFull9

      TheFull9

Exactly, it takes a good couple of years to make a Typhoon, even then the manufacturers can't build them so they actually work. If we had the cash we'd have thousands of spares all neatly lined up on shelves ready to go, our techies have all the skill needed to get jobs done fast and have airframes flying double quick, but if the government can't afford all of said spares there's not a whole lot anyone who actually wears a uniform can do about it.

It is also hypergolic with such things as cloth, wood, and test engineers, not to mention asbestos, sand, and water — with which it reacts explosively"

Chlorine trifluoride to be exact, an important material in the production of modern semi-conductors.

However my favourite part is -

  23. To be, or not to be: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing end them? But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you’ve got to ask yourself one question: “Do I feel lucky?” Well do ya, punk?
