  1. To be fair, I do have a five-year-old WA Para-Ordnance pistol (SCW ver. 1 of course) that still runs like an absolute beauty, and I use it almost every chance I get. Only thing I've had to replace outright has been the slide (got a PGC metal slide for it) though I have had it in bits several times and do carry out extremely regular maintenance. I'm not disputing your general point, though: The TM G36c (which I've had for almost as long) has definitely seen more use (as in many times more rounds put through it) and has also been far less effort to maintain (I've had it in pieces twice, an
  2. heh- as the man above has said, it's much easier to copy an original than to scratch-build. Though if you happen to know somobody who HAS an original and a machine shop... you'd still be breaking patent laws, I think. I don't know how international patent law operates, but it seems that way to me. Even so, a licensing fee to use the design would be far from unreasonable (and almost certainly work out cheaper than buying and upgrading) though I don't know how amenable WA would be to the idea. Probably not very, I would imagine. Niche producers rarely are, even though their own volu
  3. Are people still interested in obtaining heavy-duty parts, or should I just get my own done?
  4. I should be getting my M4 this week or next, and I can get prices fairly quickly after that as long as I have some idea what kind of numbers we're talking about. I'll be happy to send parts of my own gun as examples, as I don't plan on using it much until I can get the new bits made and installed. In terms of rust protection, I can get the parts zinc-plated as well, though I'll ask for prices both ways beforehand. I would also need to know which bits we'd be looking at getting done- though obviously that will be more help to me once I've actually got the gun in front of me to look at.
  5. Alternatively, my team's treasurer works for a metal machining company. I was gonna get some parts done for my gun by his in-house guys, but if enough of you are interested he can price out a full run of a few bits. Metal parts would be mainly mild steel, but I figure you probably don't need any more than that for airsoft. Let me know if you're interested.
  6. Yeah, the Hi-Capas are Baldrick and Blackadder because they're not real guns, so they look a mite comedic next to the Paras. And WA Paras are gorgeous guns. You might have some trouble getting ahold of an HRT Special because IIRC they're discontinued (though I've seen a few black ones for sale, the parkarised ones seem to be a bit rare). Not sure if they still make the P-14 .45 though, and the HRT Special is essentially one of those with an ambidextrous thumb safety. P-14 .45s are still great-looking guns.
  7. Heh... This thread is cool. If only I could get along with the single-stack grips I'd be up for a classic 1911 like a shot. As it is, well... Three WA Para-Ordnance HRT Specials (two with metal slides, one "rescue job" that's been used as spare aprts for one of the others), two WA SV Infinity Prokillers and two TM Hi-Capa 5.1s. Love the Colt design, but my hands're too big.
  8. That takes the weapon to more or less exactly 0.98 joules IIRC, as it's the standard limit for most sites in the UK (where the accepted limit is "less than 1 J").
