  1. Your 16 is sweet Joe! Very nice.

Your ACOG is far enough forward to have that BUIS on there, mine is all the way to the back, last slot.

Also, the ACOG I have can't 'fail' (the replica one) as it has no power or illumination like the real one. Now, were it the firearm counterpart, I could see a slight reason for the BUIS, but the ACOG would need a QD base, which you can get but they're a tad pricey.

  2. There's still no real purpose to that other than to be tacti-'cool' which asserts no emphasis with me. You'd have to remove the ACOG to use it. I can see the practical purpose of one on an M4 co-witnessing with a red dot but not an M16 with a magnifying scope.

If looks over-ride practicality, then one may choose to configure a BUIS under an ACOG. Whatever floats the boat I suppose.

  3. MERCILESSPIT, nice gun.

No BUIS for Marines with ACOG.

    Thanks Sgt.

Indeed, Marines don't use a BUIS. The ACOG only has about 2.5" to 3" max eye relief so it sits at the far back of the rail anyway. There's no room for a BUIS, not to mention... what good is a BUIS behind an ACOG anyway? You'd have to take the ACOG off to use it. LOL

  4. Actually, my M16A4 MWS wouldn't be a very accurate replica without the M5 RAS would it? It's hardly 'R@ping' the gun. The rail system does have a practical purpose. Notice there aren't a ton of accessories, I just like the bulky feel of the RAS with the covers on it. It's thicker than the stock hand guards, and with my big hands, it suits me better. I have an A2 that replicates the A2 I carried in the Corps, but it feels tiny in my hands.

On another note, 5-2-1, that 203 makes the gun look severely 'toyish'. Nice gun, but to coin your colloquialism: 'why all the paint'?

  5. I don't get it really.

I don't think that they look so terrible on the side. It's no more offensive than on the top really. Not to mention, though I have seen a few located on the top rail of firearms, PEQs that I have seen are predominantly located on the side rail of the firearm opposite of the shooter. And really, that would seem to be the optimal placement as to keep from obscuring a larger part of the shooter's FOV, especially on a gun where the carry handle is still being utilized.

  6. @ MERCILESSPIT

Nice pics, is that a clone/replica Aimpoint?  If so mine is arriving soon as well :D

    Looks good.

Thanks for the suggestion.  Who manufactures the receiver on which you mount it?

Actually, that's a real AP CompM2 4MOA that I bought off of a friend of mine that was tired of it and bought an Eotech. It's normally on my M&P 15 but I had to use it for these pics as I don't know when I'll get more. I wont tell you how cheap I got it for, you guys would hunt me down, LOL.

You have a point there... but CA's receivers are still pretty bad, you have to admit.

MERCILESSPIT- I like the simple look of your M16A4.

Thank you! I'm definitely trying to stay simple with any configuration I use
