As far as I can tell ( I'm kinda of a H&K fanatic) there is no .308 G36. The G36 was developed from the start to be in 5.56 (and getting some of it's design features inspired by a prototype, the HK36, of an early stage of the international Advanced Combat Rifle (ACR) programme, back in 1973). There is, however, another 7,62 (the other 7,62 ) HK prototype that most people might not be aware of. The HK32: http://www.hkpro.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=86:hk32-series&catid=8:the-automatic-rifles&Itemid=5

Gee wiz! Thanks a lot man! Won't be able to sleep right tonight... My eyes feel like have been stabbed with dull edged kitchen knives, and then rinsed in acid...

This may be a bit off-topic, but can anyone advise on a brand/model, or type of specs for a sewing machine that can handle cordura and webbing? Preferebly without going industrial crazy....

Thanks Pkekyo! Will try that!

I have a question for Ops-Core users. Does anyone run them without the chinstrap (no NVG)? I got one recently, and even though I haven't had the chance to field it, just trying it on at home, the strap bugs me big-time. The presence of a generous beard on my face has some influence in that... Any input is appreciated! Thanks

Thanks man! Never even knew those things existed...

Renegade, how did you checkered it? Any special tools/process?
-
The MG3 is actually longer than the MG42. 1225mm to 1219mm, respectively.

@Mr. Jon/CKinnerley Thanks guys! I'll have a go at lycra then, if I can find some in OD. Should be easier than elastic, for sure...
-
CKinnerley, where did you find the elastic webbing for the mag pouch?

Don't really know anything about Rhodesian or SADF nomenclatures... I was refering to H&K official nomenclature. The A1 had a folding stock and flip rear sight, as said. The A3, originally (as in the Portuguese armed forces in earlly 60's in Angola) came with wood hand-guard and stock, and later on with bakelite green hand-guard and stock. The triangular hand-guard is a modernized version, but it is still an A3. In official nomenclature. Bottom line, teh "A" changes when refering to the combination of stock/rear sight: A1 - folding stock/flip-up sight A2 - folding stock/diopter (drum

That's a G3A3, actually. Nice one, nontheless! "(...)The G3A1 has a folding stock that hinges to the left and a flip over rear sight.(...)" from: http://www.hkpro.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=87:the-grandfather-g3&catid=8:the-automatic-rifles&Itemid=5
