  1. I bought most of the internals from an ebay company called ehobbyasia, they also have their own website now. The internals are ver2 compatible or v2 when looking for parts. Hopup nub was a systema one and changed the rubber at the same time. Really easy to do. Element gearbox internals, Guarder piston head, Marui electric motor.

Unless you really want to or need to dont open the gearbox until youve used it or had it chronoed. If there is a air leak in the piston it will show up on the chrono results. Element sell gearbox packages that have gears/piston/piston head/spring guide/shims/arl etc. You may want to change the motor as the stock one is ok but not brilliant for lots of pay and spray. The AOE is not very good stock and a washer will help but were getting ahead of ourselves here.

I suggest you buy the gun, hopup rubber and nub, a couple of m4 mags if you have problems with the boxmag.

  2. Ive not had a problem with my trigger switch, biggest problem has been the boxmag feeding correctly. There are a few takedown videos on youtube showing you how it comes to pieces all the way down to the gearbox and its internals. It is very simple, I disasembled the gearbox in the safezone at a skirmish and replaced the piston in about 10 minutes. There is a lot of support here on Arnies and any problems you would get could be answered very quickly and helpfully. There is also a subsection on Arnies called The Foxhole which is dedicated to support guns and there is also a dedicated thread on there to the ak m249 gearbox.

Forget ABEC ratings, Bones Swiss Ceramics are super smooth and highly recomended.

Those boards with the two swivel wheels are sold here in the UK under the Brandname Rip-Stik IIRC, got thrown out of toysrus in Broughton for being antisocial on one. Well, wife went clothes shopping for two hours, went a bit doolally. You can kickfilp on one, they are fun to ride on ramps and bowl, but unless you physically jump 180 you cant ride one to switch because of the spring loaded casters.

  5. Hey Thanks Paulb i am going to my local raido shack and see if i can find an extenshion or make one.

Hey i just got my m249. The review shows the front end of the barrel unscrewing. I have tryied to unscrew mine and i just cant get it to unscrew. Would it have thread locker in it or something. Anyone got any ideas or going though the same proplems.

Did you get a A&K M249 straight from HK or a rebranded echo A&K? Out of the factory there is none, Echo like to have a fiddle and may well have put some threadlock in there.

  6. My original bipod still doing well, been to 3 skirmishes and still locks in place, stays in place on the whole and legs extend in place without slipping down out of posititon as some have mentioned. Played with extensively in and around house & workshop and Ive really jacked up the weight on it to boot. It does make a lot of difference in wear and tear on mine as it has support from the pintle brackets that restrict the guns tilt by pushing against the upper part of the bipod as it tilts. However its not great, metal is wearing, itll probably need replacing or repairing soon.

  7. I've heard many people complain about how the A&K M249 leans on the box mag when not in use, with the front bipod extended and elevated, will that be an issue?

On my para you have to extend the bipod and the stock all the way out and then itll sit ok with the boxmag off the floor. Its not a problem, the biggest problem was how unstable it used to be if the bipod wasnt fully extended and even when extended very dodgy, blow on it and mine would just roll over and clatter to the floor.

  8. Thanks, gone back and had a really good look and I have 3 buttons.

    Details Avatar and Options

Details link gives me meta information on the type etc. with no other otpions. Avatar link is ....

Option 3 takes me to edit or report image. Ive been back to edit the image and taken out all of its information including the caption and then clicked upload, and it gives me a caption error. Ive not tried reporting it yet.

  9. Thanks for the advice, Ill shove this one when it arrives in something a little cheaper to see what snot comes out, not looking for a snotted gearbox yet.

Im going to start a new thread in the foxhole regarding upgrading the mechbox, many many thanks to Fareast for this superb review but I dont want to be accused of cluttering it with unwanted babble.
