Never be embarrassed by something that works

Not awesome, but functional
Here's what I started with:

Went with the Sportline as I could almost get two of them for the price of one full metal version from my friendly supplier. Wanted a long gun running at circa 350 fps for woodland, and something easily transportable for when I visit CQB sites, to run at sub 330 fps.
Here's what they look like now. I removed the folding stock and swapped over the excellent sliding "Concept" stock onto the long gun. I then fitted a stock end plate with sling point onto the short one, and added a stumpy vertical foregrip. Just need to add a red dot sight on a high mount and I'm sorted. Plus some VN style midcaps for the short gun maybe.

I do care about my gun. I just don't want to spend $50 on a mag that might work. That said, the long awaited Pro-Win mags are FINALLY out so I will give those I try. I could shoot it inside but would only be able to dry fire.
If it helps here's how I test inside
I put my chrono in the neck of an old and tough ruck sack, with an old towel lining the bottom of it. Pull the draw string nice and tight on the rucksack opening and it works perfectly

I was on topic, I was responding to an incomplete review.
If I write a review without any sort of "how it actually works" aspect, then please feel free to point it out. Personally I wouldn't spend that much on a gun (and I have) without buying something to load bb's into it.
This has been posted as a review, when it should have been in one of the pics threads.
As I said: "From a neutral perspective, all I'm seeing at the moment is a discussion about a moderately well finished wall hanger"
-
I know what I'm talking about.
If it doesn't work properly, it could look like Megan Fox covered in little choclate RIS rails for all I care.
Function first, then looks. It isn't my fault you posted an incomplete review before you had all the info and equipment at hand.
I'll thank you for your efforts so far, but you really should have waited. You are in no position to take umbrage against those that complain on this point. You decided to publish too soon, take the brickbats like a man!

A review of how it actually shoots would make this thread useful.
From a neutral perspective, all I'm seeing at the moment is a discussion about a moderately well finished wall hanger.

Seconded

I'm a ordinary, regular skirmisher, and have moved over to mostly belt rigs, with a retro flavour. Basically I work on the premise of building belt rigs that will see me through from the start of the day until lunch, and then reload for the afternoon until finish.
First up is a Warrior PLB belt with a modded 58 pattern yoke. Comfy as heck!
Here is the same belt, now fully loaded - 3 x frag grenade pouches over 4 x open 7.62 mag pouches, 2 x large utility, 1 x small vertical utility.
Next is an ALICE rig. The mag pouches have had their grenade straps cut off for a better fit, apart from one each on the outer pouches. I keep my tabs and a lighter on the left hand side compass/medic pouch, and odd stuff in the right one. I use mid/lo caps so I need the mag space.
Next I have a 58 Pattern set, nothing unusual apart from the E&E pouch on the right on a drop loop and the pistol pouch instead of the right side mag pouch.
Finally another 58 pattern set, with a couple of Indian canteen pouches in serious need of de-greening
On the way: A SAS inspired retro belt kit based on a rollpin belt, and something Vietnam-ey

Swerve: If you can't handle the hate, don't dish it.
This is a picture thread. Please take your issues elsewhere. You're opinion on how people do or do not behave is of no consequence in *this* thread.
Having another rant and tacking some on-topic stuff on the bottom doesn't wash either. I shall say no more on the subject (already said too much) I shall just report people who continue to ignore what they have been asked to do by mods and others.

It was a KA set, now sold on though.
Please consider shutting up, it is becoming very tiresome.

MY EYES MY POOR EYES!!!

simple and sexy, exuse the photo quality its my camera phoneEDIT: Nice scope, MBG. You thinking of putting a foregrip on that rail? And what's the with tape on your mags?
Here's my (now broken up) AUG + phantom with a gripod fella
and another view
The phantom really does look more balanced with some kind of foregrip, and because of the weight distribution of the gun has now changed, you'll find it more comfy.

It's easily done, and as long as you are not charging people to read your posts it's not an issue.

FFS! Seriously, how are we going to get adult literacy levels up in the UK if the only airsoft magazine in the country has grammer in it that is poorer than a Tokyo Marui instruction manual...Where was the brilliant 'French Letter'?
Please, turn on 'spellcheck' or 'grammer check' before printing off what has been a magazine I have often defended, always subscribe too and read from cover to cover.
The reviews, as usual, were good reading, as was the kicking I actually didn't expect the 'Ai-500' would receive from Ai.
Unless of course, the grammatical errors were deliberate after previous comments on airsoft forums. In which case, Sirs, I doff my cap to your satirical genius.
ehem!

Sorry, any mesh that dents like that and loses paint is not suitable, paint flakes could easily get in the eye. How long before a dent becomes something worse....
Good review though.
btw I'm not anti Cactus, I was one of the first UK guys to get the original Sykes full face mask, and I think it is excellent.

Well after a bout of temporary insanity, where I sold over half my AUG collection and then after recovery I had to buy some bits back*, I'm working on a new AUG project, nothing special but when I post pics I reckon it'll make a little bit of sick come up into Hedgies mouth
Guys, love your AUGs! Treat anyone elses opinion, whether positive or negative as just that. Opinion. Take in what you find useful and shrug at anything else.
*thanks Treads

Well the plan is:
I have a civilian stock, and a mechbox that is being quitened down, so to speak.
The stock will be padded out with sound deadening foam but what I dont have (now) is an outer barrel. I'm looking to add a short outer barrel that will alow the addition of a silencer. I have seen various kits on the on-line stores, but they all seem to require at least some part of the outer barrel assembly.
To put it bluntly, I need the outer barrel assembly, just like the one I've sold to Amateurstuntman *facepalm*
-
Treads: I need pretty much the whole outer barrel I'm afraid.
As for AUG mags, I have an Arktis chest rig, AUG mags fit in two per pouch just peachy.
-
I like to think, that in some small way, I'm contributing.
btw, I'm keeping stubby Steyr, ok ok I know it isn't one for the purists, but it is by far the best balanced, most solid airsoft gun I have ever held. With battery and full mag the centre of gravity is almost exactly at the mid point of the whole length.
But...foolishly, what I am short of now is an outer barrel, I've just sold one but now if I'm going to get silent AUG off the ground it is the only part I'm short of.
-
I ordered one from Werthers in the US. That was a tail of woe,....but he did deliver eventually, two months later. By then I'd already ordered an AUG Civilian.
I posted a thread about it somewhere

The CA AUG's hope unit is a clone of the TM one, and as far as I know is fine. However, I replace mine with metal ones ASAP as I swap the barrels in and out a lot.
I recommend this one. Good luck finding a supplier, though, as WGC no longer seem to carry it.
However, this one is in stock. It has plastic rings, though - which are the bits which get damaged by repeated removing and replacing the barrel.
I have both of them in my AUGs, the PDC one is definately a step up from the CA stock hop unit, the G&P one is also alot...well...firmer and less liekly to come apart on you.
Either one is a step up in some way, easier to adjust and much more sturdy.

That is probably dark chocolate

Currently my only rig
Base is a Condor PLB belt with harness in black, pouches etc. all OD
From left to right:
Bulle shotgun shell pouch
Viper single open M4 pouch (for M4 sized speedloader)
Viper double M4 pouch (fits my metal water flask nicely)
Warrior Medium horizontal utility pouch (for ammo bag, bits and bobs)
Warrior adjustable holster (it's the old style one you cant get now, adjustable to take 1911 up to Desert Eagle or MK23)
Warrior small horizontal utility pouch (for SVD magazine and sniper ammo)
Also note the four clips attaching the belt to the harness, these were taken from a 58 Pattern poncho roll, allows me to go with belt only with minimal faff
I am running a complete spring only load out at the moment
SVD-S Spring sniper (working great now, such a solid gun)
Tri shot shorty M3 (rigged with a modified bungie sling so I can carry it on my back and release v fast with a clip across my chest)
TM 1911 springer (surprisingly good for what it is)
I can easily carry everything I need on here for half a days gaming, I have an S10 resi sack for extra water/food if I need to do a full day
