  1. Thanks for testing at your hops guys! God dammit! Maybe we did a consignment of lemons here over here? As for the sight mate,i know what you mean about the RS optic, thats why the binned it in favour of this interesting setup... do like! http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/577/g36kidz.jpg/ The ARES sight is still in my opinion a very poor sight, especially the red dot, Its a shame as the finish of the gun IS superb, and they have put some thought into the guns design but i feel they missed the mark with the dual optic sight and the iffy internals! Al
  2. Man that surprises me! i wear a pair of ESS shooting glasses and i have trouble lining up with the magnifying scope making quick target aquesition imposible, and as i said, the faint fuzzy blurr that is the poor excuse of a red dot, i can hardly see the thing in normal daylight conditions! (and yes that is with brand new batteries!!) Compared to my G&P ACOG the ARES sights are a pain in the a#s to use! Next time you strip your gun have a look at the front of the hop unit and you will see the weak point i mentioned. Also i would be interested in the results another check you cou
  3. I have had my ARES G36 for a few months now and I WISH I NEVER BOUGHT IT! As Utty said, the exterior build quality and realistic takedown are awesome, other things like the quick spring change and trigger switch are great features.. BUT The sights are a pile of sh~t, i have the dual optic version. The red dot is useless, very fuzzy and dull making it nearly useless in daylight conditions and not much use at night. Plus it drains the batteries even when turned off! The magnifying scope is clear and has nice markings but has poor eye relief and worst of all is set too far to the left
  4. Another happy bunny! I have just got the full length ARES (cough) UMAREX G36 and I can also confirm that the fugly white HK trades are printed on an EASILY REMOVED metal foil sticker and as previously stated the sexy HK G36 markings are underneath. Im so glad as those butt fugly UMAREX trades were putting me off buying this gun! As for the dual optic sight, with the telescopic sight, when getting a full image I have a 1/2 inch clearance from the lense of my ESS shooting glasses to the scope, and as for the red dot, mine seems a bit fuzzy and possibly a bit dull but still useable.
  5. Sorry to hear of your troubles with your gun Trasher! I too am a paying close attention to the feed blade as it could be an issue. Also the scoring of the BB's worries me a bit! I havnt had many fliers whilst firing gun, it fires pretty damn straight, maybe the dammage to the BB's very minor. Im taking mine to a game next Sunday so will do more testing. Trasher, after you fitted your PDI chamber upgrade, do you know roughly how many rounds you fired before the trigger sear broke on yours? Al
  6. Hi All I just had my first outing with my L96 since upgrading it. It is now fitted with the PDI cylinder set with VC piston, PDI 140 spring & SCS hop mod. It chronos at a fairly consistant, early 420's fps (10 shot string, Blaster Devils .20's, hop off. 421, 425, 425, 426, 422, 423, 422,422, 423, 421fps Hopefuly PDI will release some stronger springs soon as this gun doing 500fps will be awesome! I am quite amazed at the accuracy of this gun now! i was consistantly hitting a clay pidgeon size target at about 50 meters. (fired from a standing position, direct aim, using Zero One .
  7. I was worried about the feeding system but it is quite simple and has been trouble free so far, have put about 1500 rounds through mine so far and it hasnt been an issue. I am putting mine in for the PDI upgrades this week, Laylax dont seem to be making many internal parts yet so now PDI have released their trigger group i will be fitting their parts. Im looking forward to skirmishing it with a decent fps so expect a skirmish report within the next month or so
  8. Hi M773 I have both, a FAL Tactical carbine and a SLR and they are completley different, even the mags dont fit without adaption. Ok one or two components may be the same but all the major parts are different! i have read (but not tried) that the top cover off a FAL will not fit on the SLR. Will try this sometime when i get a chance
  9. Hi Horse84 I have found that hand loading is the best method so far, some people have tried a speed loader with a pistol mag adaptor fitted but this gets mixed results. I just bought a couple of extra mags, lets face it, with a BA your not going to rattle off 120 rounds in a hurry! And itbvolks Some upgrade parts are coming online now, a company called TNT have released a trigger and 500fps piston/spring & cylinder head kit for $183. See link below http://www.tntsniperproshop.com/product.de...528_en_2784707# I am waiting for Laylax to release their offerings and hopefu
  10. Hi Ivor If you wanted to disable the blowback you would need to do the takedown as you described, Once you can see the fake bolt carrier you will see a shaft sticking out the back of it (this is what broke on mine, it sheared off where it screws into the back of the bolt carrier), this has a kind of claw attachment at the end of it which hooks its self over the back of the piston thus giving the gun blowback, This claw is the bit that needs to be removed to disable the blowback. This is done by un doing the 2 screws that clamp it round the shaft then removing the claw. The rest of t
  11. 33lima, nice loadout you have there sir! I have also gone for the Falklands Para loadout but wear a black beret and my old Queens reg cap badge as i dont want to disrespect the Paras by wearing their beloved red beret without having earned the right to wear it! A quick question, are you running your SLR with the blowback on. My reason for asking is that mine broke and i have waited over 3 months for a replacement part, if yours does break you can disable the system and still use the gun quite simply (just dont hand the gun to the shop for repairs, you wont see it again for months like m
  12. Hi guys Have a look on this thread (towards the end). There is a lot of discussion about upgrades and a review of trashers PDI upgrades and the problems he had with his gun afterwards. http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/inde...howtopic=173081 I am waiting for the Laylax parts to be released before i decide how im going to upgrade mine Al
  13. I am watching this wilh interest t_hum, the only thing putting me gettibg a KJW M4 is the problems with the recievers splitting at the hinging point. Until this is solved either by your stamped reciever or proven to be just a production fault in a limited batch of rifles, im holding off! Also t_hum, would your stamped reciever be allowed to be exported to the UK? There are very strict laws here regarding importation of "Firearm parts" and as your reciever will be stamped and (i presume) very similar in construction to the RS recievers, will there be enough differences from the RS recie
  14. To remove the carry handle you have to; Remove the fore grip. Remove the rear sight. (gets in the way of the top cover) Crack the gun open, to do this the hop needs to be pushed forward by reaching into the mag well and pushing forward whilst you open the gun using the release lever (by the stock on the fire selector side), THE GUN ONLY OPENS A LITTLE, NOT FULLY, DONT FORCE IT! Remove top cover by sliding to the rear, Remove the horse shoe shaped bracket and silver shaft & spring that guides the bolt cover (this bit goes through the carry handle) Undscrew the round slotted n
  15. Hi jamesdack Its a 4mm diametre thread which is 8mm long and has a mushroom head. hope that helped! Al
