EG Tactical / Evolution Gear make a replica for $280 USD. I have bought their EOTech sights and G33 magnifiers and they are nice enough in build, fit, finish and attention to detail.

I have made 3 or 4 orders directly with them and they are really good actually :)

I bought this on the recommendation of a team mate and I'm very impressed. Solid build, holds zero and looks the part https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B016KSA56E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

After a 5-6 year hiatus I am back here on the forum.

I am keen to find out what has changed in the meantime - I'm guessing airsoft guns are hydrogen fuel cell powered these days and fire vegan friendly rounds?

Have any manufacturers gotten round to making a Thompson with a 'proper' M1928 style receiver?

The King Arms M1928 is proper - right dimensions and engraving etc. I love mine. http://www.kingarms.com/product_detail.php?id=260

Oh and I joined about ten years ago but don't skirmish ATM.

  3. Thank you fellas .. It is ..

i'm sad I have to let it go! :(

this and all the other guns ! :(

    Wolf

What are you selling and when Wolf? There's a lot of players / collectors here who'd crawl over glass to get hold of one of your collection!

  4. Yup always fancied one , made a nice bundle of beer tokens at the NAE last wk and thought f**k it I'm getting it and yes the fact that Napoleon uses one DID have a bareing on my decision ! Love that film !!

But well happy with its doing 318fps on point 25s and I can get a 9.9 1300 in it so it has a fruity little rate too it !

Luckily the S&T Sterling has the easiest QC spring set up I've seen - 2mins and your under 350. Or well over  :fear2: Mine came with a spring that looked like it doubled as truck suspension... !

  5. Regarding the lower fps valve, does we Europe sell them separately?

Have a word with JD Airsoft - last time I was in there, Phil (owner) said that all the WE GBB rifles now come with a red valve / BBU that keeps FPS below 350. Apparently WE had a lot of issues with buyers wanting downgrades / stuffing things ups with DIY 'fixes'.

  6. I've checked all their shipping policies and cannot see anything that says they won't ship to the UK. In fact, during the order process they state that shipping to the UK needs UKARA.

I can get the gun elsewhere but (a) it's 30% more and (B) they don't have the mags so I'll still end up paying fat postage from the US whatever.

Emailed Evike but <fruit> all back from them so far.

  7. Just had an order bounced and refunded by Evike because it's "against UK customs rules" or something. It's just an AEG and I've shipped stuff in from the US before...

What the <fruit> is going on? Gave them my UKARA and as they offer a 2tone service they must ship guns to the UK. They refunded the PP account but I still want the gun.

Should I take this personally or does anyone from Evike use this forum?

  8. BTW, how do you shop for holsters for railed 1911s? different brands seems to have different rail...

Blackhawk Serpa holsters fit my 1911s - all either TM or TM clones. The ACM copies of the serpa's also work but can be a little tight at first and they're dirt cheap. Other than that, all mine fit into WW2 US and UK holsters.

  9. That would be pretty sweet.  I was are of the steel PPQ but didn't know about the possibility for others.

I'd be interested to see how a steel PPQ slide performs. Mine is a nice pistol but the blowback doesn't feel strong enough to cope with a heavier slide. C02 mags would make a difference.

  10. Teeny tiny bit of a necro post here, but does anyone know if this cylinder timing problem was an isolated issue or if they're all naff?

Can't find any info on them or the Cybergun ones selling in the UK.

    Cheers!

JD Airsoft were selling them at the Fireball Weekender. They're a trifle hot for the UK but the Dan Wesson powerdown shells do fit. Can't say what they chrono at.

  11. Oh right. Did the Marine Corps get all of the Army's old 1911s when they went 9mm then?

Last year the USMC signed a new order with Colt to replace all their std M9s with .45s again. I think that the new std is a railed MEU-style frame however I'm far from sure. What I do remember is the deal being done: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/07/28/marines-pay-22m-to-go-back-to-their-old-guns-colt-45-caliber-pistols/

On the above post re: the Army copies, I have both of these. The Desert Warrior has been a reliable performer but the use of the old 1911 lowers on Springfield uppers brings on my OCD! The mags are shocking and both guns eat gas like there's no tomorrow. Best thing to do with them is strip them down, thread lock all the bits you can (especially the sights and grip safety) and you should have years of shooting fun.

  12. Noticed the lack of comments on this thread so thought that I'd add my experiences...

Got one of the first ones in the UK from JD Airsoft last year and it has been downgraded to shoot sub 350fps so a good start. Physically the gun is lovely and looks like a freshly minted Garand should. It's also very easy to stain the woodwork if you like the darker, battle worn look as it's real oiled wood and not plastered in the horrible red gloop that covers ACM wood stocks. The trigger guard is the later shape so more Korea than WW2 and the bayonet lug won't take a RS bayonet which I find a little frustrating as they are easily avoidable errors.

The mags hold about 25rd and all mine feed fine. They are a very tight fit though so my friends and I have all lightly sanded the magwell. It's a 2min job as the sides just needed smoothly on mine. I suspect that the oil used on the stock (maybe it was dipped rather than sprayed) had raised the grain a little too much.

Firing the gun is a real pleasure. The MOSFET means that the trigger response is nice and crisp and the rifle itself is very accurate - at least as good as my G&P M4s and KA FALs. I haven't touched the hop other than to make one or two slight adjustments due to wet / very warm days. Range is similarly good - I'm hitting people at 50m and that's good enough for me. It's not in the same league as my KA guns but I've personally found their hops to be legendary, which is why the m1928 is my Go To gun at the moment.

So to summarise - looks good, fires well out of the box, needs a couple of minor tweaks but all in all a very skirmish-able gun. Recommended for anyone who wants a WW2 gun that isn't a Tommy and can keep up with modern weapons on an open day. And looks blinking good to boot.

  13. I hadn't used my FN for a while so took it out at the weekend and ran it alongside my pimped G18c. The G18c has an A1 hop, madbull tightbore, PGC slide and the totally stock FN p***ed all over it. Better range, accuracy - the works. Definitely my #1 sidearm!
