  1. It was in the CP somewhere. It was a free-text box where you could put things for later retrieval. Very handy for storing links, code snippets, and suchlike.
  2. Apologies for coming late to the party, but hey, there is a war on. Wasn't aware of any of this, since I've not received any Arnie's emails for months and I'm too busy to drop in here daily like I used to... Is there any way to get back the Notes section? I had a LOT of important stuff in there, and now it's just gone without so much as a by-your-leave??? Not impressed.
  3. I have never, ever, ever seen an SA80 with the foresight left on when the rear sight has been replaced with an optic sight. And it will be getting in the way of the ACOG, but you'll probably only notice it as a lowering of the brightness, rather than being able to actually see the foresight through the scope.
  4. Yes, seriously, was leaving the foresight on an oversight? It won't work without the rear sight anyway, and will just get in the way.
  5. My mistake then. Although putting a bayonet on a support weapon seems a bit pointless - hopefully you'd never be that close to the enemy while using it.
  6. Not at all. If you can't even get the name and category of a thing right, how can you hope to build an authentic looking replica of it? While we're at it, wouldn't a higher magnification/longer range/more accurate scope be better suited for the MG36, rather than a red-dot aimpoint, which I'd generally associate with CQB work...?
  7. It's not an LMG, it's a Light Support Weapon. Also, I thought the MG36 didn't have the bayonet lug...?
  8. Having seen a fair amount of rifles here in Afghan, I can say that any camo'd ones are definitely the exception... There's an interesting variety of sight systems in use, however the majority have basic SUSATs. I have even seen a couple with iron sights and basic foregrips, not the rail system. But I think they were RAF...
  9. Or you wait until you want some other stuff from their website and order it all together to make the shipping cost more worthwhile. 'Tis what I always do when ordering things from HK suppliers.
  10. Definitely liking the new look. While you're tweaking can you get rid of the pointless rep points things on posts? Seems that some losers are misusing it... EDIT - the update appears to have cropped the right edge off my avatar. It's still shown correctly in my settings page, but not in my posts. Any thoughts on this?
  11. The problem with adding fake wear is that it looks like fake wear unless you're extremely clever and careful. But hey - whatever makes you happy. They're your guns, you do what you want with 'em. Wear or no wear, it's still a great set-up.
  12. I don't see the point of making "artificial wear" effects. Just USE the damn thing! There's nothing wrong with having a rifle that looks new. When a real soldier is issued with a new rifle it looks new. And I, for one, like to keep it looking that way for as long as possible. But they inevitably pick up scrapes and dings along the way, and that's okay too.
  13. That looks great - but I personally prefer the blued-finish over chromed.
  14. It's good for them. I don't think it's good for us, though.
  15. So, basically, they somehow acquired all the rights to use these trademarks and therefore get paid even though they don't actually make anything themselves...? You've got to hand it to them, it's quite a clever move. Bunch of bastards...
  16. Wait, I thought we hated Umarex with a fiery passion hotter than a thousand suns?
  17. Can't argue with the classics - in most cases the build quality was a lot better than the cheaper mass-market stuff we have now. Swings and roundabouts, I guess. You want low prices and wide availability, more players in the sport, something's got to give...
  18. If he can make a STANAG kit for you that would let you use AUG mags AND STANAG mags, ask him to send me one! EDIT: If not, you could always pick up a second stock from a broken AUG off the forums and then you'll have both.
  19. Happy to help - that's what I'm here for. Well, me 'n' the FAQ thread... EDIT: Linked from Treadhead's guide is this American bloke's prior conversion: Sekiryu's AUG Conversion. EDIT 2: If you want to throw money at him and wait for some free time, Docv400 could *maybe* knock up a STANAG drop-in kit. If he can make a 9mm magazine adaptor from scratch for me, I'm sure he could make a STANAG magazine adaptor for you. (But don't tell him I told you to ask him! )
  20. Here's a good start - not in the US though... Treadhead's STANAG AUG Conversion guide.
  21. Each to their own, I guess... If you flick back through this thread, you'll see at least two STANAG-converted AUGs, so that much at least is doable - I don't remember the usernames of the people who made them, sorry.
  22. Almost completely impossible. And more to the point, why would you want to? Converting the receiver and barrel would be a much more attractive proposition.
