  1. I'll be documenting everything very thoroughly once I snag a rollback or flatbed from work and bring the thing home.
  2. Thanks! I'm going for something like this in the long run:
  3. My wallet is lighter now... might have to sell the PTW to get this thing up and running.
  4. Yeah, because you can't use an airsoft replica without an orange tip otherwise...
  5. Personally I don't like using the ARC rails for the Contour because it hangs WAY out to the side of my head. The balance of the helmet is thrown off noticeably and I get the camera snagged on things on a lot.
  6. I was not happy with the retention of one piece of velcro, so I added a second piece of velcro that attached to the helmet on each side of the camera. The camera is stuck on to the helmet with sticky velcro, and that second piece covers it up to add more retention. I ran it like that at Red Storm up in PA and didn't have any issues even with me bumping my head countless times.
  7. Excellent review, looks like a great rig. Good to know they didn't just cut slits in the fabric.
  8. Thanks! The next project is to make one that replicates the Sandinista rigs... complete with sideways pattern. I haven't seen one for sale in years.
  9. Many times over the years. This particular fellow had an incident involving quicksand and his gun got a liiiiitle bit dirty. A couple of panorama shots... the entire landscape used to look like something from Star Wars, but recently has been being "reclaimed" and turned in to grassland. Ugh. Anyway... back to M4s!
  10. This is not my rifle, but I figured it bore posting for the sake of, well... mud.
  11. I've been running a CM048M (AKM) on a 20c lipo for 9 months now with no issues. I'm waiting for the trigger to fail before I tear it open and put in a MOSFET, but the piston appears to be standing up to the abuse just fine.
  12. @Murdoc/Azubi: Yes, made from a half shelter. I used the grommets intended for ropes/spikes to create a channel for radio antennas or hydration tubes if I chose to run a small bladder in a side pouch. My casual loadout for small games has always been OD pants, woodland jacket, and a CB chest rig. Now it consists of this rig, a strichtarn jacket, and dark brown pants that roughly match the brown "raindrops" on the camo. I want to put together a small backpack made of strichtarn that could hold a hydration pack and supplies, but for the time being the side pockets here are big enough to hold
  13. Given the custom rig above, I'll repost this here from the custom gear thread. Nice picture... Crappy picture, but fully loaded w/6 mags, sidearm, BBs, speed loader, 2 Gatorades, radio, PTT, gloves, etc.

    Custom strichtarn chestrig

Designed by me, sewn up by a friend.
  15. From the album: Custom strichtarn chestrig

Interior of radio/general purpose pouch. Both sides look like this; whichever one doesn't have a radio in it will hold water bottles or a canteen.
  16. From the album: Custom strichtarn chestrig

Secondary pocket behind each radio/GP pouch.
  17. From the album: Custom strichtarn chestrig

Each mag pouch flap can be (1) tucked in and held by velcro, (2) removed, or (3) replaced with shock cord. Each pouch can hold 2 AK mags stacked or 3 AK mags side by side.
  18. From the album: Custom strichtarn chestrig

East German NVA strichtarn combat chest rig (modern edition)
  19. Thanks, although I can't take all the credit. I designed it and helped with the layout/assembly, but all the sewing was done by a friend of mine.
  20. It's getting cold in here... or should I say cold war? East German NVA strichtarn combat chest rig (modern edition) Grommet for radio antenna, followed by an elastic keeper, followed by a PTT loop on the shoulder strap. Interior of radio/general purpose pouch. Both sides look like this; whichever one doesn't have a radio in it will hold water bottles or a canteen. Secondary pocket behind each radio/GP pouch. Each mag pouch flap can be (1) tucked in and held by velcro, (2) removed, or (3) replaced with shock cord. Each pouch can hold 2 AK mags stacked or 3 AK mags si
  21. I keep meaning to pick one of those up for my Mk12, as I love the look. Thanks for the review!
  22. Looks exactly like the real steel Tantal mags I have sitting in the gun safe.
  23. I handled the more or less completed Makarov at an event last month; It had a traditional thumb safety on the slide. Trigger pull felt normal, but I wasn't really paying close attention to it vs. the TT33.
  24. VFC Mk18 I moved a bunch of parts over from a different gun and added some brand new rail covers. Not sure what I'll end up doing with this cosmetically. For starters the Gear Sector handstop/mount and rail covers will be painted to match the stock and T1.
  25. This is getting worse (well, better) than when we all posted our SPRs a few months back!
