Looks great, Piano! Glad tosee that rear sight worked out properly. My own Mk12 is getting an overhaul right now (read: I tore it apart and haven't gotten around to putting it back together), but I'll be posting some current pictures whenever it gets back in one piece.
  3. Does your rear sight blade wobble like the dickens? It's a problem I've had with every gun that uses a pot metal rear sight block, and I've never come up with a permanent solution.
  4. Bolton gas block + PSL gas tube + Ironwood Designs SVD style handguards = win
  5. A few Contour shots from Red Storm East up in Pennsylvania today/yesterday.
  6. "Is this your Boys" < Not sure what you're asking. I tied mine, then melted the knot with a soldering iron. It's not coming loose any time soon, but I can just snip it off if I want to unravel it.
  7. I *do* keep the camera mounted upside down, I just forgot to put it on that way when I took the picture. Otherwise, yeah... feels like you're running around with a fishhook on your head.
  8. Repro Airframe Norotos shroud from an Army buddy Contour ROAM EBB Peltor mounts + Howard Leight headset (I plug my radio into this) Tactical 10 year old
  9. A. Thanks! I can't take all the credit (it was a buddy's idea), but I am very happy with how it turned out. B. Said buddy wanted that. He doesn't really like the feel of the shorter RPK stock, and I had a couple of CYMA regular stocks sitting around from previous builds.
  10. It's not a H-nub, it's the CYMA bucking. They're actually one of my favorite buckings over all. It's a standard straight-across-the-top mound, but with a groove cut out of the center. Long, productive evening. Part Uno: SVD-style PSL handguards, PSL gas tube, Venom Tactical gas block/front sight on DBoys AKS74 receiver/stock. CYMA RPK with CYMA AKM stock... scope is just for kicks, going to be replaced with a Russian scope of some sort. Part Dos: Moved said PSL stuff over to my CYMA AKM, and moved the grenade launcher (well, the entire front end) over to the AKS74.

  12. How cheap were the mags? Lowest I've seen was in the neighborhood of $20 each.
  13. Real steel Polish Tantal... mag? I have a real Tantal, and don't see anything very Tantal-esque on your CYMA.
  14. Long story there... Months ago when I bought the rifle, I discovered that the front sight was rather brittle when it split in half and embedded itself in my palm when I was removing the orange factory brake. Shocked and slightly embarrassed at the sight of a pot metal sight sticking out of my bleeding palm, I ordered an Egyptian AKM front sight from Apex... then I cleaned my wound. I had the barrel milled down to match the I.D. of the front sight, but was off by .5 mm or so. Being impatient, I grabbed a ball peen hammer and started tapping the front sight down onto the barrel, figuring the
  15. This is relevant to my interests aswell. Speaking of relevant interests... My CYMA/Redstar AKM. Current build list is: - CYMA CM.048M - Romanian battlefield pickup AKM furniture - Madbull Red bucking (otherwise stock internally) - Russian tourniquet - Polish sling - Polish front sight and slant brake arrive Tuesday - ??? vented handguard/heatshield - DBoys pistol grip (no squishyness or creaking, unlike the CYMA grip) - 20c 11.1v lipo - 10x MAG bakelite mids (going to fakelite these soon) - CAW grenade launcher and 8mm Madbull grenade - Practicool charging handle jewelry
  16. Mine is wired to the top since I have a real stock on it. All I did was pop the gearbox loose in the receiver and pull the wires up to the top. No hassle at all.
  17. I'm going to be building one presently, complete with left side selector. Whether or not I make that work, I don't know. The rear sight block shouldn't be too hard to replicate, since I can just cut the swing arm off and use a set screw in its place.
  18. Needs to go in the real-steel thread, but I'll save that for a day when I can take some better pics.
  19. The problem with being made of high grade steel with excellent tolerances is that it is hard to actually beat it up.
  20. Realsword 56-2 and abandoned house = a good match
  21. My intent with the polishing was to get rid of the sandpaper look. Wet sanding with very high grit sandpaper might help, but I'm flying blind here since I've never weathered a rifle like that.
  22. Used =/= gloves made of sandpaper I would personally polish that up. The majority of the bare metal wear I've seen on real rifles is from contact points on your gear and the oils from skin.

Given the price difference, would you take the S&T over the RealSword, or vice versa?
