  1. No you cannot do it from the other end... the stock tube is caped behind the gearbox spring guide, you cannot access and remove the recoil weight from there.
  2. If you install some (i've used 4-5 on one gun) of the Laylax washers or similar, you shouldn't have wobble. However make sure the rail nut that goes over the barrel base is actually screwing enough. For me, the King Arms Larue style rail nut would screw in all the way and require washers, while the Madbull RIS II nut would not screw enough and required a little re-threading. Other people didn't have same problems with the Madbull stuff.
  3. My Socom tube was screwed all the way in, just backed out to the 6 o'clock position. So when I took it down, I did the same.
  4. He DID ?! That would be awesome. But... I doubt it... from the pics it looks like they're using standard size AEG mags, whereas Sopmod style mags need more space above the mag catch, like real steel mags.
  5. I removed the fuse on my socom from day 2, so to speak, and just made some custom wires with deans at the end. Keep the connectors in the middle of the wires, mind you.
  6. Stealth is the basic version, just get a little voltage protection and electronic trigger instead of corrodable contacts. Raptor however comes with "everything". This chart says all I guess: http://www.awsairsoft.com/miscfiles/miscimages/comparison.png
  7. The only question for me is whether to order just 1 or 2 of them, to start with.
  8. Remember to only get it if you have the ARS buffer tube.
  9. It's interesting that since I bought the Laylax buffer tube ring / castle nut I had zero issues with the buffer tube.
  10. I think I have one hopup waiting for my Sopmod repair - when AWS releases the mosfet - I could send it to you if you need it urgently, as long as you'll get one back to me? Might be too much hassle to be worth it for both of us
  11. I have a Sopmod in pieces that I'm waiting to fix but basically I will change the battery to front wired like my Socom, so if anyone wants the Sopmod stock... make me an offer.
  12. What's interesting about the improved recoil weight is the different design, with an intermediary spring. I wonder if it will actually feel more realistic on semi
  13. -stops firing when out of bbs (needs bolt stop press on next mag) -improved hopup unit (but if you had a very good hopup unit on your CA, not much difference). -recoil that you can really feel (though you could say its a vibration) -much better sound and big smile on your face
  14. Laylax is bringing out lower receivers! http://www.laylax.com/SHOP/metal.html Nothing special about them except trademarks (Colt/Bushmaster/Knight). Still a good thing

IIRC (I have installed a DD RIS II before, on a Marui Sopmod) the bracket is suppose to move freely until you use the 6 screws to put the rail into place.

It's strange because if its the RIS II, the rail is not held in place by the nut (which just holds the barrel in place). More details here: http://www.weaponevolution.com/forum/showthread.php?1-Daniel-Defense-Lite-Rail-install-guide-and-pictorial-review

What wobbles? The barrel nut? The Rail ? Or the barrel?
  18. AWS lists the New Version II Gearbox mosfets again Stealth ... and Raptor!!!! http://www.awsairsoft.com/ - check bar on the left side of the website.
  19. You can easily hide it with a Knight PDW style flash-hider
  20. What what what!!?!?!?!! do tell about that upper receiver...
  21. I'm running 7.4V myself, no problems. The Socom in question was stock, I guess it was just bad luck. I'm just saying, if he's going to push his gun a little bit up, he may want to look into it. IIRC it was the sector gear that got stripped.
  22. RichardY (eagle6 guy) knows best but basically Magic Box stuff is ######. Laylax & Prommy (same thing) should be G2g. You may want to upgrade your gears for long term reliability, I've seen a set of Socom Gears ruined by a 7.4 1500 Lipo. A) lots of money -> Promy/Laylax gears set - amazing built, put the movie Transformers to shame so to speak less money -> RichardY told us / sells some no-name gears that are apparently pretty good / superior to the stock ones.
