  1. CZFan, don't go too crazy buying the GunsMod Gen 3 frames until you've time to try one yourself...

as they seem to create a larger gap between the front of the slide and the frame..

I'll try and post a couple of comparison photos when I get a chance..

The reinforced rear post ( hammer-mechanism) is nice, but like the GM Zero-hammer I can see this frame going into 'Version 2' etc..

  2. Loving the Commander. I mean I love them all, but that Commander is what I've been waiting years for. I'm super envious as I've not been able to find a kit anywhere and is in the top 5 of my favorite pistols.

Commander kit should be due for release shortly, but initial batch will be steel-slide version only.

    Aluminium kit will follow later...

  3. Quicksilver..loving the Taran Tactical G34. Where did you find the slide?

They were basically sold out the day before the CNY, so only a few online shops had the G17 version still left in stock...

A new batch is planned for the near-future though ;)

  4. Non-Ex,

They're both similar but I'd go with the original release of the Dark Duke Steel VP9 kit...

It's sold out presently with most retailers only having the later Taitan release....

Hopefully someone will bring out a stainless steel version at some stage....

If getting a steel-slide get the AMG valve-knocker and remove the inner rubber O-ring ;)

  5. Squad, do you know if the Papago will have Nova-style on-frame rails? Have you seen the Trigger Happy M1911A1 and Series 70 kits?

    Hey PS,

The Papago version will indeed have the full-rail frame also known as advanced.......

Yes I saw the Trigger Happy/Detonator steel 1911 kits and spoke with them about it....

The TH 1911A1 now includes the new barrel-link set-up allowing quicker/smoother action and less chance of barrel-chamber wear.

Nova have no plans to copy this new system just yet.

The TH S70 steel kit was basically made in a very small batch mainly by pre-Orders from people who had bought the 1911A1.

They are both very nice kits, but sadly fit into the highest-end price category similar to FPR who've just released their steel SFA V10.

I guess the only slight gripe I'd have about the TH steel kits is the trademarks, the font-Size or debt just doesn't look quite right...

As both these kits are restricted to the Korea/Taiwan market due to steel handgun kits being illegal in Japan,

there may be a further release of aluminium versions later in the year through Enten in Japan.

The Nova M45A1 kit including parts will be coated with either CeraKote or Gun Kote.....

The next 2 Nova 1911s should be the Gold Cup and M45A1, the WC Pro has been delayed until Xmas16.

    Cheers.

  6. There are two more M45A1 kits due within the next 6-months....

A full Nova aluminium CNC kit with all control parts included, and a full-steel version w RS grips from Papago Arms..

First up though should be the Colt Series 70 Gold Cup aluminium kit from Nova including competition trigger ;)

  7. One of them needs to go Gen2 ;)

Was very tempted to try out the new Guarder Gen 2 style frame,

but I just like the Gen 3 style so much more,

I might try and pick up one just in case I've a change of heart along the way ;)

  8. In total contrast to the West German P226 from 1989...

Here is something a bit more modern...

    Salient P226 MK25 (Marui/Prime) Battle-Aged Finish.

Thanks to GG for borrowing photos ;)

  9. That's from a fly cutter for flattening out a surface. Personally I really like the spring cut machine marks on your piece. Makes it more rugged with a no frills GI feel to it. You only get the linear marks after a lot of sanding and polishing which I find to be more suitable for race or presentation pieces.

    Yes - exactly ;)

Because it's a Prime-Blue finish it creates a lot of problems at the final stages....

The side-polished Nova kits like the S70, Raptor, Commander and Gold Cup have more consistent finishing despite the cheaper prices.

    Cheers.

  10. Colt 1911 Series 70 Silver (Marui/Nova)

Staying on Georges theme of silver 1911s ;)

here is mine, impossible to photo with the reflection,

    hence the darker tones....

Yes the barrel is actually silver - looks nearly black in bad photos :(

Super Rosewood/Rosewood and Pale Walnut grips also look super on this gun...

  11. Lovely piece mate, shame about the machining marks on the right though.

The circular machining marks are all the way through the slide on both sides....

Apparently the Japanese like there machining marks for authenticity,

    just a pity they're circular....

With the Hi-Gloss Prime Blue finish its not particularly noticeable ;)

I'm a big fan of the original WW1 style of 1911, seems to have more in common with more modern 1911 releases bar the Beavertail of course :)

PS - the triggerguard on all these Prime kits had some bad machining, no escaping it :(

Was a case of having with some flaws or not having at all, then again if your good with your hands it can be refinished...

    But I ain't that good..
