  1. CAR-15 are generally assembled from whatever spare parts that are in inventory at the time. My carbine is correct, and so is yours judging from the description you have given. The term "older" is relative. Introduced in the eighties, the A2 upper receiver is considered old today. Personally, I believe that the first M733s had A1 upper receivers and barrels. Later versions are essentially shortened M16A2s, and the latest versions are quite similar to the CQBR. Colt refers to all of them, collectively, as CAR-15s.
  2. The M733 is currently marketed by Colt as the "M4 Commando." It is basically an M4 with an 11.5" barrel and variable trigger group (burst or FA). Previously, it has been marketed as the "M16A2 Commando" and was basically an updated XM177E2 with features borrowed from its larger, more modern cousin. My carbine is perfectly correct except for the moderator, which is a personal touch. The upper receiver is correct for an older M733 - most of them have the A2-style rear sight and carrying handle, although some still retain A1-style features. The barrel is 11.5", which is also correct. The thi
  3. I don't know, man. Does it look like a modified M733 to you now? How do you like the business end? Would you like an XM177E2 moderator with that? Still not convinced? That good enough for you? And there's me, cradling my rifle. Perhaps this will help you decide? Full Details
  4. Nothing fancy, but enough ArmaLites in the picture, no?
  5. Agreed. Even I have a soft spot for little mutts.
  6. It my college dormmate down the hall... *beep* stole half of my vodka. Serves him right.
  7. I do like the idea of a G36C equipped with a magazine well conversion kit and Magpul magazines.
  8. I like it a lot. Nice work. However, I think it would looks even better with black RIS panels and a fine layer of desert sand over it.
  9. And you know what's cool about the frame? It only looks the way it does in the pictures I posted when it's exposed to intense sunlight (like it would in a desert environment). However, in soft lighting such as that found in the forest floor, it's a shade of OD best likened to the color of the stock of the AUG A1. It's nice - it suits both woodland and desert loadouts.
  10. You're welcome. Good thinking - email them and ask if they have any CA M15 lower receivers in stock. They do custom work all the time and I'm sure there would be leftovers.
  11. AEX Santa Clara has a few of them in their store - they are in the "random junk" boxes on the counter. You can probably pick one up for a pittance if you move fast. Me with my only ArmaLite.
  12. Birthday present for your daughter, I presume? Now for some pictures of my trusty sidearm.
  13. That is an obvious negative, my friend. However, I do have a gift for you. Here it is. Everything you need is within. As this is an ongoing project, I will update the thread whenever I have new material to add. If you need additional assistance, feel free to ask.
  14. My modernized South African mercenary impression. Inspired partially by those depicted in the film Blood Diamond. My carbine is almost an exact copy of the one Leonardo DiCaprio's Danny Archer uses toward the end.
  15. Me at Sequoia today in my modernized South African mercenary loadout, using an "assaulter" kit and then an "marksman" kit.
  16. Looks blooming good, at least from a short distance away. I couldn't even tell that it was plastic.
  17. About the P226: Is the slide/frame/outer barrel from the Guarder kit or are they stock Marui?
  18. In which case it should still be in the foregrip. You can see the connector in the gap between the M203 and the upper foregrip.
