  1. And gish takes the prize. Integrated mouth guard? May I ask how you made the helmet clips? ACM modified or completely custom?

Yes the intergrated mouth guard was made by a teammate. Basically take an ACM mask, cut down and strap it into the chinstrap with some velcro. I'll try and get some better pics but it's a pretty easy mod. Perfect amount of protection that I like, i've already had teeth knocked out.

The helmet clips are also custom. They were made from some Peltor hard had mount ear muffs, cut down and mounted on some machined rail mounts. Since there are no Sordin mounts on the market we made our own. There are plans to make them available eventually. They also maintain the ability to hinge backwards so I can move them out of the way.

  2. Redid my helmet over the weekend. Here's the results.

Should have taken it without my black poster in the back as it drowns out the NVG set.

  3. Update - Managed to borrow a real vlite from a friend so heres a comparison vs the Real version

    VS a real S&S Vlite

I had the opportunity to borrow a real S&S Vlite from a friend and did a quick compare. His version was the on/off green so I compared it to the Green elite of course.

The overall dimensions of it are pretty near spot on. The silicon casing around the electronics is a little wider on the Elite as compared to the vlite

The silicon on the Vlite is of a more dense material and is slightly thinner width wise then the Elite but very barely noticable.

The push button system on the Vlite is silent while the Elite has a very minor audible click.

    Power

The real vlite is definitely has a more powerful led inside of it as it shines all the way thru it's silicon casing to the very end.

For the value and purpose of these though the Elite holds it's own for sure

  4. Hello all,

I received a bunch of Element Elites yesterday and thought i'd throw together a short review/overview of them.

I ordered all four lights. Red, Green, Blue, and the IR edition.

It comes in a very good package with the Elite itself, and a length of string to attach to the light to use as a lanyard if so desired. Each light is backed with hook velcro to allow attachment to gear.

The lights themselves are made up of a plastic holder marked with E-Lite on the front of the holder, a soft gel material that contains the embedded light, push button and battery all of which is contained in the "head" of the light.

The lights are removable from the plastic case is of so desired.

A nice feature included in the lights is that the PCB board for the lights is also colored coded for the appropriate light. Green/Red/Blue/Black(For IR)

The battery is embedded within the gel itself, but with a bit of surgery I think it's possible to replace it. They are CR 20323V batts

Left to Right - Green - Red - Blue - IR

    overview.jpg

The lights themselves are quite good with the gel providing a good dispersion of light.

Blue seems to be the brightest followed by Green then the Red one.

    indark.jpg

    Comparison to a glowstick

When compared to a standard glowstick it appears to be fairly equivalent. The only difference is mainly in the pattern of light dispersion. Because the Vlite has a plastic backing it doesn't tend to light up as great of an area as the glowstick. However this could be a good thing for those wanting to use them as marking devices as it would make them more directional.

    glowcomparedark.jpg

    IR Edition

The IR edition is actually quite good in quality and performs as advertised. The IR case differs itself being in a black case as compared to the Green and tan of the colored lights.

The IR led used is not visible to the naked eye.

Downside of course is your not sure if it's on or off!

I shot a quick video of it viewed thru a D-300 NVG set. Apologize for the slight fuzziness, it was difficult to focus using my camera as I don't have a camera adapter for my set.

So overall these are good investment and alternative to carrying around a bunch of glowsticks for personal marking. They advertise having a 140Hr plus lifespan so we will see.

    Pros

    - Lightweight

    - Easy to put on gear

    - As bright as a regular glowstick

    - Inexpensive as compared to the real deal

    Cons

    - Potential for short battery life (We shall see)

    - No easy way to replace the battery really

  5. Hello All,

A review of the Source Hydration ILPS system.

For a while now I have been searching for a hydration system to integrate into my LBT 6094 Slick carrier. The idea was is that the Slick being the base system for all my current rigs I would like to keep the hydration on it.

    Some requirements I was seeking

    - Around 2L capacity

    - Easy to refill

    - Very low profile

After looking at various ideas for low profile carriers to be molle adapted and not finding one that I particularly liked I stumbled upon the Source Hydration systems.

I've have heard of Source before from some mountain biker friends and was pleased they had a military division with hydration solutions. At first I was interested in the 1L Kangaroo - It seemed to fit the requirements, however contacting source on depth (Which was not listed) they said that it sticks out close to 5-6 inches at the base. It's more designed as a canteen replacement then a low profile system.

    kangaroo-with-pouch.jpg

I then noticed the ILPS system. Reading the information page it was designed to be inserted into a plate pocket.

Perfect! For airsoft use i'm not really using the plate pocket at the moment except for a fake SAPI plate this could take it's place.

And so it arrived direct from source

    Overall

The whole package consists of the hydration pouch, a CB fabric covered hose and the UTA filler

    package.jpg

A brief side note on the UTA

    uta.JPG/

I have to say this is a very ingenious system for refilling hydration carriers, especially those that are integrated into gear or stashed away deep in a pack. For a video of it in action check it out

I briefly tested it and it works perfectly as advertised. Now I can easily fill in field from a few 1/2L jugs.

The overall size of the ILPS is about that of a Medium (Replica) sapi plate with it having no more then 1/2 inch extra width in comparison.

    It is listed at

    Length 14.1

    Width 10.6

    Depth 2.6

    emptycompare.JPG

    Empty

When filled to it's full 3L capacity it surprisingly does not change shape all that much.

    fullcompare.JPG

    Full Compare

One of the reason is there is a center rib in the hydration pouch to prevent the shape from changing to much. It also keeps the profile of very low

In a side comparison the ILPS sticks up no more then the top edge of a SAPI plate would. In addition I plan on only filling to 1.5/2L capacity which will lower the profile even more.

    sidecomparisio.JPG

    Side Comparison

When inserted in the Slick carrier it feels very much like the fake SAPI. Since it's moving around it tends to mold to my back which makes it surprisingly comfortable

    fullback.JPG

    Inside the Plate carrier

    Hose

The hose is very well built and all the connecters are very robust. All connecters have a strong latching system and seal very well. I cannot foresee any issues with it.

    Bite valve

The bite valve is also of a very good design. It has a turn and pull system to prevent accidental opening and the water flow is very good. Some people may not like this.

Overall this seems to be a great solution for hydration.

    Pros

    - Will easily fit inside the space designed for a SAPI plate. Which many airsofters do not have filled

    - Carries a good amount of water

    - Innovative refill system means you do not need to gear down/remove the system

    - Wide top mouth for easy cleaning

    Cons

    - Since in my use it is close to my body. Water may be heated up due to this (May add a small layer of insulation to prevent)

    - May need to mod your plate carrier for hose placement.

As I use it more I expect to find some more pros/cons but for now I am very pleased with the system.

If anyone has any questions/comments please let me know!

    Cheers

  6. Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

What cases are you using to fit all of them?

Looks like some big peli cases. Thats damn impressive. I count 15 correct?

Correct, those are Pelican 1780 cases - One with foam, one without. And there are 15 in total, with one 249

I assume you rent those out or are they all for personal use, of the latter, what is wrong with you ? ;)

Yes those are all personal guns. We have 13 players attending so two are going down as backups (Yes PTW's for PTW backups)
