  1. Great review! How big is the mosfet unit inside the buffer tube?
  2. Whoha, at 1000 euros you'd be better off buying a tested and trusted Systema PTW, wouldn't you?
  3. ######, Airo's mini mosfet is selling for $45.99 at ehobbyasia now, I was hoping to unload my old "big-stick" one for about as much.
  4. A little update on my AiroTW. Just like Ben from Asiarsoft promised I've received the new mini-FET for my AiroTW earlier today. It's been a while since I've assembled PTW so it took me some time to replace the FET, but now I can fit 11.1V LiPo in the buffer tube and run with either CTR or STR. I hope to get out this weekend to actually field it, and quit chairsofting.
  5. Sorry I can't help you there, my buddy has his version of the PTW hopup mod so the hybrid (PTW barrel and sleeve + DTW rest of the hopup chamber) barrel he's built while I was away and which I've tried in the 1st gen DTW didn't have any feeding or performance issues with about half a mag I've shot into a box at home (to chrono the cylinder). I can be wrong about it, but I think I've also tried the AiroTW barrel assembly in my 1st gen DTW without any adverse effect on FPS either. Speaking of metallic noise -- any traces of contact on any metal surfaces?
  6. I could have saved you the trouble if you asked. BTW, I've ordered the complete "G&D DTW" hopup chamber from rsov before the MAX3 were introduced and the sleeve was out of spec -- it's too large for the 1st gen DTW barrel and too small for the PTW barrel. Just so you know if you decide to get one too.
  7. That was the case with the 1st gen DTW. Do you have the new MAX3 one? I thought that the barrel diameter (and the chamber) were redesigned to be 100% compatible with the MAX3, is it not the case?
  8. I'm sure I'm not the only one waiting for reports from the happy current-gen DTW owners on magazine compatibility.
  9. My gen1 DTW would NOT take the PMAGs. Not sure if the light filing would have fixed that, I don't think anything short of industrial machinery would. EMAGs might fit tho.
  10. Would be cool if someone could compare current gen of G&D with A&K and Airo altogether.

  12. So I have some news regarding Airo TW. I think they've been absent from the market because they've been working on the small mosfet and I have some photos of the model which is likely to go into production (hopefully before the end of the year). Unfortunately I didn't have any time for airsoft over these past few months so I can't post a reliability report.
  13. First time I hear on the two-year warranty on G&G guns too. I'm wondering if that's something the local UK distributer forced onto the manufacturer (or dealers onto distributor). That's a great move. And while the pricing for parts also totally region-specific, I'm sure that if The Insider can get a new DTW motor for 33 pounds in UK, than the TM-compatible motor would cost about 10 pounds, so triple the difference on the motor is a very valid concern. I've owned two PTW (max and supermax) for only about a year, but I didn't have any issues with the motor, so I'll just keep my finge
  14. If it has same instant trigger response, quick fps adjustment without tools and stopping firing on empty mag, I'm buying 5 of these.
  15. BTW, are there instructions out there how to program burst mode on these MAX3 DTWs? 5 round burst would be ideal.
  16. Well, the fact that nobody has linked any actual airsoft product kinda proves my point. Yes, there're WE Katana and KWA ERG models (which, btw, were announced in Spring 2012 with the 6 months ETA and just now are coming out). But not only these platforms are more expensive than the very aggressively priced G&D DTW and A&K and Airo TWs, these TW clones are becoming sort of a standard and I'm sure all the parts, magazines, bodies, etc, will be significantly easier to come by within 6-8 months. I'm not saying clone (or original) TWs are ideal -- I've had issues with the crappy QC
  17. Oh, if anyone has that MAX3 DTW in hand I'd be especially curious to confirm that it is indeed Systema receivers compatible and find out how well it works with the PTW PTS PMAGs and EMAGs and to see the photos of the new mosfet, I hope it's tiny now so that the battery can fit into the stock tube. Nath, maybe you can post a review when yours come in.
  18. I dare you to find the equivalent airsoft rifle with the same instant trigger response, quick fps adjustment (without any tools), stop firing on empty mag and the fps consistency OOB below the DTW/A&K TW/Airo TW price. Maybe some of these are not important to you, but saying that all these features can be found for less is bs. And since I sense where you're going to go -- let's include the cost of magazines and let's focus on the fps consistency. I've been out of the GBBR world for a while now, but last time I checked there was only one affordable gas platform delivering decent fps
  19. Yes, definitely GBB or real steel one, not an AEG.
  20. Can you post the exact dimensions of the battery which fits there?
  21. Batteries are here! Bad news -- while PTW PTS PMAGs fit, they seem to over-engage bolt lock release, so they AiroTW doesn't shoot with the PMAGs unless you push the release button while shooting. I'll fix it, but I wanted to post the report right away. See PPS for the fix. FPS measurements with 0.3g BBs (all I had in the loader). Canada-legal AiroTW cylinder (silver): ~320fps Orange DTW cylinder: ~345fps Variations in each were about 2fps. Could very well be the margin of error for the cheap chrono I've got. All fed thru the stock AiroTW magazine. Just as a point of refere
