  1. That is pretty cool, but doesn't seem like a viable option for a skirmish gun. Assuming they're using quick disconnects for those fittings, you'd have to pop the quick disconnect, drop the mag, load in another mag, and pop the quick disconnect back on. Tack on the price of WA mags at $100 a piece and it's simply more convenient to stick with the stock mags. Full adjustability of FPS with a regulator, no cooldown, and shot-to-shot consistency is a plus though. Now if only someone came up with an alternative to the WA mags...
  2. This is true. The only way this gun will perform as it is in cold weather (in my opinion) is a regulated external high pressure air source. Out of the box, the SP's and escort-equipped guns win in this regard, but the simple operating mechanism of the WA is a sure-fire winner in the warmer climates such as out here in California. Upgrade parts that will increase the performance of the gas system will probably help. Higher performance can = better gas efficiency if tuned correctly. It's all in how you mod the gun, and your personal expectations for performance. If only everything in
  3. Ah, that's understandable. I'm just waiting for something to break...it's been 2000 rounds so far in the past day and not a hiccup thus far. Btw, I've found that Dow33 works really well for the WA. With the silicone oil I was concerned with the lubricant being too thin for the heavy moving parts, but Dow33 grease (from my old paintball days) seems to work perfectly. Best part is it's a silicone lubricant, perfectly safe for o-rings, and doesn't shed off the bolt of hammer assembly when the rifle is cycling.
  4. The spring itself just makes the recoil snappier. The buffer however, is a solid machined part with something inside of it (noticed that as well)...probably a piece of rubber. It's much heavier than the stock WA molded plastic piece and thus attributes to more mass being thrown around as the rifle is cycling. I did notice a slight ROF drop and a more sluggish action as I mentioned before when just running the AS buffer with the stock spring. ...perhaps I don't feel the spring is too strong because I've been shooting real rifles these past few years (anxiously awaiting for my WA to asplode
  5. Sorry, I was a bit intoxicated when I wrote that (meant to say buffer instead of bolt). It's just the 140%spring + buffer that yeilded the 407 FPS on the chrono .
  6. Well, the recoil isn't only greater, but it's much sharper as well. Much less sluggish in the action. Also, I'm not sure if this is because the greater spring can get a better seal or whatnot, but my WA M4a1 with the airsoft surgeon bolt + 140% spring chrono'd at 407fps today on green at the local airsoft shop with .20 or .25g bb's (can't remember which). Picked up 3 cans of green gas and have shot through about 10-12 mags without a problem so far (no unusual wear). Kind of waiting for the gun to explode on me so I can start upgrading parts
  7. Hey guys, I've been lurking around here for a bit. After a 4 year hiatus from airsoft (due to the lack of realism in a supposed realism-based game), I came back to find the WA M4a1 just released. Needless to say I placed my order the same day and have been basking in the WA goodness Does anyone know if it's safe to use gun oil on the WA m4a1 (Just a light coating on the bolt/recoil buffer/hammer...No idea if it'll break down rubber so I'll keep it away from the hop-up/mags)? Btw, the airsoft surgeon 140% recoil spring and bolt buffer is amazing . The recoil is now greater th
