  1. Hmm, that's odd. That was my mistake earlier, mil-spec tubes are indeed thinner than commerical tubes. However, I am certain I used the taller metal piece with the ASAP, which is labelled "commercial." But using a taller spacer on a wider buffer tube doesn't make too much sense.
  2. I agree, great work. A lower disassembly would also be awesome, as I'm looking to put ambi controls on my WOC and haven't even found a manual online yet.
  3. Big Texas: That's good to hear confirmation, and just to make sure I didn't somehow end up getting a commercial tube. Also, thanks for the video, I am looking forward to it.
  4. So I recently installed a Magpul ASAP plate on the WOC. As others have reported, the fit is perfect and installation was a breeze. However, I know that there was some discussion before about the G&P M4 having a military (wide) buffer tube, but mine doesn't seem to have that. As many of you know, to ensure compatibility, the ASAP plate does not come with a buffer tube alignment "notch" integrated into its structure like the normal rear plate does. Instead, it ships with two small black metal pieces that are put in place during installation, and which serve the same purpose as the notch
  5. The resulting FPS is not skirmishable if the barrel is too long, so the IB length is uniform for all their models AFAIK to keep the FPS uniform throughout their lineup. Increasing the barrel length results in a marked increase in FPS apparently, far more so than AEGs. It's been discussed on the forums, but sadly G&P doesn't include it in their product description. As for the retention thingy, sorry to hear. You can buy replacement buffer detents in the States for about $3.
  6. So the black magazines that come with the WOC are 'S' type? That's a bit disappointing. My recently purchased one is a Colt grey finish, and there is no wobble at all. Like most said, it's a simple fix even it has wobble. The reason I picked the G&P over the WE was because I was scared of out of box problems. The WOC has a decent kick, not spectacular, and will probably be greater if I replace the buffer with a heavier one. But, if it were weaker than it is now, I don't think I'd be satisfied. Like most have said, it is a blast to shoot (though I'm sure the WE is too), it gives a
  7. Under what circumstances does the bolt lock back? I have an empty magazine inside, however, the carrier still doesn't seem to lock back. I have to manually pull on the bolt release to lock the carrier.
  8. Is there a good disassembly guide somewhere on the net?
  9. Yeah, hammer was back, the selector was already on safe, it just didn't move to semi as easily as it does with AEGs. Looks like everything's just really tight. I did a generous going-over with silicon oil and the selector seems to be a bit better now. The mag catch, however, is still really tight. I really have to hit the mag hard for it to lock. Otherwise, can't wait to shoot this thing.
  10. Turns out it was just a bit tight. A bit more strength and it moved.
  11. Well, I got my WOC-13 (steel barrelled plain-jane 14.5") today. It looks great and it's really light, but it didn't come with any documentation. Having never used a WA M4 or a real M4 before, I'd like to ask a few questions: 1.) My selector is currently on safe, however, I can't move it at all. 2.) I can't seem to insert the magazine. Any help is appreciated.
  12. Nice comments and links guys. Looks like there isn't too much debate over the G&P versus WE issue any more. They're in difference price ranges, and the reason is clear. Xerxes: News on the Bomber mags would be awesome.
  13. Well I ordered one a few days again from Redwolf, but right now it's "Pending Customs Inspection." I've never had this happen before, but then again, I've only ever bought 1 GBB from overseas. I can only hope it doesn't get rejected. Can anyone else who got their from overseas chime in on their experience with the customs process?
  14. Here's a recent email exchange with AEX. Doesn't look like they will continue stocking the WOCs, and they haven't given me a reason as to why. ---- Hello They are currently unavailible at this time. We are only limited to the models on hand. Regards, Airsoft Extreme Info info@airsoftextreme.com ***Please attach current emails when responding*** Refer to your order number when inquiring about an order. -----Original Message----- From: XXXX Sent: Tuesday, April 14, 2009 2:03 PM To: info@airsoftextreme.com Subject: Re: G&P WOC Steel Barrel Y
  15. Looks great. Is that real MARPAT pattern? Looks a bit brighter/more tan than I've seen it before. Maybe just the sun.
  16. Thank you, sir, that would be appreciated greatly. I just saw them come up on Redwolf as well. I'm just waiting for some reviews of those Bomber mags.
  17. Anyone know if AEX is planning on stocking the plain-jane steel barreled versions, in case someone has already asked them?
  18. That looks like a 1lb container?
  19. I'm no chemist so I can't decipher that recipe up there, and am not even sure what CHz might mean. Well, like everyone's been saying, Green Gas is just propane with some lubricants mixed in and then packaged and marketed to the airsoft crowd. In terms of performance, it's the same thing as propane, it just lubricates as it goes since most of the formulations have silicon oil in it. Propane is propane, but of course when sold, has some other stuff in it too. We do have big propane bottles here, I guess it's a very American thing maybe, I don't know if you've ever seen King of the Hill
  20. Or for fun, it's not like you need a reason.
  21. Huh, I figure with your extensive experience on small arms, if not PJ/CRO or combat weather, you'd be security forces or something like that, but that is beside the point. Maybe you get to go to the joint forces range a lot.
  22. And to follow up, is the rear receiver thread (for the buffer tube) the correct (RS) thread or is again some other thread?
  23. In terms of what the shooter does to operate the GBB, and the controls, I'm sure both are fine approximations to the real deal. I mean, what the hell is there? Charging handle works on both. Forward assist works on both. Bolt release works on both. The selector works on both. The trigger works on both. Brass thingy aside, the WE and WA are both pretty damn real There's really no need to insult people who picked one over the other. It's their money.
  24. Hmm, well whenever I get one of these, I might as well get a rethreading die to go with it. Good to know, thanks for sharing. I know madbull makes a die, is that the one you use?
