  1. Well, I put in an order and a little while later received and e-mail stating that everything I ordered were out of stock. And my Paypal payment was returned/rejected. So I ended up not getting stuff, but didn't loose money either. I guess that counts as a positive experience..:D

  2. KY apparently has pretty nice customer service. I contacted them and within a few hours received a reply directing me to the correct item(it was listed as a nozzle assembly) on their website. Placed an order right away and ordered two while I was at it.

Now I just have figure out how on earth I'm going to get the nozzle return spring installed back between the slide and the BBU. Does anybody have a good technique for that?

  3. Oh yea, the loading nozzle is cracked. Big crack on the side facing the slide, so it's pretty much impossible to see just by taking the slide of the frame. Any idea on where can I find replacements? Looked at KYairsoft, but they don't have part #48 listed at all..

  4. Well, I got my mak about a week ago..

..and it's not working too great. Trigger pull produces one flying bb and empties pretty much all gas in one go, mostly blowing back from the action below the slide onto my hand on the pistol grip. After that one shot the gun and the magazine are both pretty cold. Any ideas on what might be wrong?

I tried swapping out the barrel and bucking to a Maple Crazy Jet and Autobot, but the OEM parts looked to be slightly different, so I swapped the OEM parts back. Pretty sure I did not mess up anything, as there's maybe 5-8 parts involved after disassembly. And none were left on the table once I had the gun back together..😉

I also swapped the stock black grips into the WE fakelite ones, but no hicups there either. Any possible pits to fall into here..?

I am also using Nuprol 4.0, as I live here in the cold north. Could the higher pressure cause a malfunction like this? When looking the trigger mechanism nothing seems broken or anything..

  5. I'd say the easiest way to avoid any messing up would be to carefully plan your painting in advance. So decide what you want to paint, with what colours and what kind of colour scheme, before spraying anything. Always remember that many thin layers of paint is always better then one thick one. Good basecoating also helps and good masking of areas not to be painted is also a must. For example, when I painted the VSR, I removed the stock and barrel completely and painted them separately. It's also good to prepare the surface for painting. With the VSR, I simply slightly sanded the entire stock surface with a fine sandpaper.

So all in all, I'd say that painting is always more about preparation than applying the paint itself..=) Also, let the gun dry well between coats.

I didn't follow any guide, since I'v assembled and painted plastic airplane model kits, from maybe when I was 7 years old. I did use templates; a template I cut in cardboard(using my MARPAT-MCCUU's for reference) for the M14(Militarymorons-style) and a teflon mesh with 4-millimeter eye for the VSR.

  6. Why, thank you.. It's actually rather easy to paint something like my guns with just spraypaints, but it's a rather time consuming job, since each coat of Krylon must dry for a couple of days berofe it's ready for recoating. I also have a wood stock(real wood, of course) for the M14, so it's usable with my Vietnam-themed loadouts also.

  7. Finally got my fourth(M16A2) and fifth(CQB-R/LaRue-upper) PTW's. Oh well, the lower reciever of the fifth one was actually saved as spare parts and not assembled, but still.. Two other uppers(M16A4 w/ ACOG and the standard M4) are assembled from separately purchased parts.

All rail systems are RS. All optics, except the scope on the SIR M16, are RS.

  8. Sorry for the delay in replying. Been out of town and away from my computer..

    Jambo5000: Why, thank you..

dolla blitz: Sorry; my only one, so I need it myself..=)

SilentScope: The 553 stays very firmly on the PTW. No wobble of any kind. And, since it's a little higher then a 551, it's better to use with the ACOG, witch was one reason why I replaced my old 551 with the 553. Just required a lot of practice to aim with the 553 when the ACOG sits in front of it..

The other reason was the battery type. 553 uses the same CR123A-battery as my Surefire-weapon lights(M910A and X200B) and Nitrolon-flash light. It's always nice to have just a couple of different battery-types for multiple optics and lights.
