  1. Well, I don't live in the US and neither do a lot of people here. For us, getting a TM Glock is actually quite easy since they are always in stock.
  2. Good luck finding a CYMA one in stock these days though... Another thing about buying a Marui over a CYMA is that if you take care of it well, the Marui retains its value at resale, CYMA does not, at all.
  3. To clarify the die cast vs. milled issue: With very few exceptions, airsoft AR receivers are die cast. Higher end receivers then get a finishing process where they are finished with some milling. This is more often done with upper receivers than with lower ones. You can tell by looking for sharp edges. super sharp edges, like the ones you sometimes find on upper receivers cannot be made by die casting, they're only possible with milling. Whether they are CNC milled or milled by hand is up in the air. Basically, by finishing the receivers with a simple CNC process, they get to market th
  4. Stick with the bullet connectors since they allow you to keep a slim profile. The Deans connectors are bulkier and you can barely fit the bullet connectors as they are now. As for the RA tech mod... it's nice, but for practical reasons I think having an external battery is actually quite nice. For one thing, it lets you have a bigger battery, so you don't need to worry about running out. And, you can remove it MUCH more easily. I like to keep lipo batteries easily removable and near non-critical parts of the gun in case of a lipo fire/explosion. And these days they make REALLY nice bat
  5. Consider yourself lucky. I've burned through both the original piston and a replacement with the 11.1V The silver coating on the copper trigger contacts... burned through those too. And I think I'm still well under 20K rounds. For reliability, I'd stick with a 7.4. I replaced the annoying loops that connect to the motor with proper promy gold clips. Gives a good RoF on that setup. Oh and for anyone who is buying this rifle, like most new G&Ps, this thing comes stock with DEANS CONNECTORS
  6. Piston rape indeed, especially considering that on stock the gun comes with a old G&P polycarbonate piston (the kind with 3 metal teeth instead of 4). The mechanic suggested a full metal teeth piston to handle the stress from high RoF. But I've heard bad things about full metal teeth ones, like how they destroy your gears...
  7. What batteries is everyone running their guns on? I've stopped using the 11.1V lipos since they chew through G&P polyacetyl pistons in less than 10,000 shots. Not to mention the trigger contacts burn through real fast. 7.4V lipo still gives a decent RoF
  8. OK Some big updates: First: Upgrades of TM Hopup rubber, Element WHITE H nub (don't use the black, gave me bad results) and Promy 300mm TBB gave pretty good results for accuracy. Any inaccuracy was mostly caused by one thing: grease from the cylinder gets shot out of the nozzle into the hopup unit getting it all messed up. Second: Gun broke!!! I took it apart and the piston had completely lost its teeth. The first teeth (the big thick plastic one) had a section completely burned through by the sector gear. Sector gear itself was completely fine. Shimming was OK done, but it cou
  9. I've had the VFC SR16 before. The previous owner was very skilled and made the gun look 100% like the one Chris Costa used in the Magpul video. And I see many people on this forum have done the same. Externally, it's a beauty no doubt. The finish is excellent and very durable. But internally it's not up to the latest G&P competition. The hopup assembly has some wobble and the loading nozzle is still plastic (really should be a metal one from the price). Hopup chamber is also plastic. These too factors combine to limit the FPS consistency of the stock gun. That said, wi
  10. Actually there's a lot of different teflon tape mods. The 2 main ones that I think are worthwhile are: 1. hopup teflon mod: Where the end of your rubber sleeve meets the barrel, not the end where the BBs go, the other end. This is a place where airleaks happen. Wrap it up in white teflon tape. You should only be able to wrap twice or so around and still be able to insert the assembly into the hopup chamber, if you can get many more wraps than that, then your hopup chamber is not of high quality because it is not fitting to the hopup tightly enough. 2. inner barrel teflon mod: Y
  11. Just did some testing with my VFC Knight's style flash hider. The problem does not happen every shot, but one of every 4 or 5 shots will randomly drop out of the air like it got no hopup. I took the flash hider off and the problem stopped, so we all know the culprit. I'm just not going to bother with the drilling, too much work and it ruins the look of the flash hider. For now, it's gonna have to be the Noveske fire pig!
  12. OK, so have anyone NOT had this problem with the flash hider? I'm worried about drilling it out since the piece is made from steel. As it is, it is treated so that it doesn't rust. But if I drill it, it might start to rust. I live in Hong Kong where anything that can possibly rust WILL rust.
  13. Has anyone had an issue with the BB clipping the flashhider on this gun? If you've noticed, the Knight's style flash hider on this and the SR15-16 have a VERY small opening, just big enough for the BB to pass through. I had a DBoys version and the BB would occasionally clip the lip of the flash hider. But I've extended the inner barrel so it is only 8 mm short of the end of the flash hider (this time it's a VFC version flash hider). It's hard to know whether the BB will clip unless I pass hundreds of rounds through it. Anyone have any experience with this? As in an increase
  14. Some aspects of realism will negatively affect performance. Those aspects I don't want. Some aspects will not affect, or even improve realism. Those we all want. Nylon body falls into the latter category. "Recoil Shock" falls into the former. Full auto accuracy and RoF are the two most important factors regarding performance in terms of getting BBs on target in practical combat conditions. Hits beyond 30 meters are rare in my experience since the wind pretty much takes over beyond that. So what you need to get as tight of a full auto grouping at 20-30 meters as poss
  15. Just my 2 cents: For the price you pay, to get a G36 that has a shiny ABS body rather than a nice non-reflective realistic looking, strong nylon body, is pure rubbish. Also remember two HUGE downsides to recoil: 1. Full auto accuracy goes out the window 2. You are very limited in how fast you can take your RoF. I suspect anything over 20 rps and the recoil mechanism will wear out real fast
  16. For all your VFC PDW owners out there, do your folding stocks have a bit of wobble when you have them unfolded? I had the DBoys version and it did not have this problem, but on my friend's VFC version I noticed this problem. I am wondering if this is a fluke or if all the VFCs come like this.
  17. Those results are very impressive indeed. But do keep in mind that those grouping can only be achieved if you use semi. Full auto would throw things off quite a bit since the inner barrel so long and you will get lots of vibrations from the inner barrel against the metal outer barrel. An easy way to eliminate this problem is by dampening the vibrations with teflon tape. Just tape sections of the barrel so that when you put slide the inner barrel in, the fit should be absolutely tight, no wobble. Make sure the sections of tape are NOT spaced evenly along the length of the barrel.
  18. I just got one of the last Magpul Sentries in Hong Kong. Externally it is fantastic. I took out the gearbox and did the teflon tape mod. I haven't opened the gearbox yet though. So the spring is M100? Can it take a M120 while still using the same motor? Should I upgrade any internals? Can someone give a detailed rundown of the internals, no pics needed, but some would be nice.
  19. Sorry to necro But I just had to chime in and say that of all the GBB I have used, this AEP beats them all in terms of performance. The no blowback thing, you'll get over it soon after you get your nth kill with the little monster. Oh and get the TM. The CYMA one doesn't have the same accuracy.
