Yes I did, ROF is lower.

When you do it however, you gotta remember that on an open bolt, the impact force releases gas. So if you lighten that too much FPS will be affected.

Funny you say that, pretty much Most WEs I would have to do the same sort of fixes to them anyways.

It actually makes the WEs more flexible.  For example because I need to do that tuning, I can max out  gas efficiency, recoil, reliability, and power output where I would have trouble with say a GHK or a Marui.  For cheaper, a WE get better performance overall.

But you are a tinkering Jedi, I am a mortal, ham-fisted fool.

    Great review!

I bought mine recently, and its a fun gun.  Shoots at 320-330fps at 27*C, which is bit low for my liking.  However gas efficiency is very poor, I get 60 round/cycles out of a full charge.

I proceeded to trim the main spring by 30% and stretched + trimmed the nozzle return spring by 40%,  got around 80 rounds/cycles per charge, with a noticeable increase in kick.

I found that the flute valve was being slammed forward during the cycle and hence resulting in low FPS, using an older and stronger WE flute valve spring to keep the flute valve in place , which increased the FPS.  Its now shooting at 430-440fps.

Due to the same issues around the hop rubber constriction it is causing a dispersion.  The wobbly and misaligned barrel is also causing a number of accuracy issues.  So I proceeded to shim the barrel, which brought the rifle back to the correct point of aim.  I will be working on the hop rubber later today to get better accuracy.

All in all, it does need a heavier barrel and a wood kit, which I will purchase at a later date.

Which is why I didn't buy this thing despite the Thompson being super cool, the fixes seem so simple to engineer (from a commercial point of view) that I can't give WE my money because they can be such half-a$$es. Add 15% to the price and just do it right.

Here is my GHK AUG now after 1 day of receiving it.

I chopped the barrel from 20" to 16", but I chopped the inner down only by 3" so I try to retain the FPS.

This is the VSR mod on the GHK:

Previously it was 390fps on 0.25g at 18*C, Now it is at 410fps at 16*C Also sorted the right hook issue, turns out to be a burr in the hop lever, I filed it away and the problem disappeared.

Nice, what's the range now if you had to guess?

  4. As said on the 888c thread, I've had great luck with it, owning 3 already (and could see myself considering a 4th), all of them have done great so far. There must be a batch problem or something as I've heard things from a few users here about them failing miserably, and looking at my 3s, I just can't see what the issues could be, none of my mags have been real issues, I mean, they have leaked, but that's because I left them empty for too long, a little silicon oil on the o-ring fixed it right away, and I haven't had the major feeding issues I've been hearing about apart from one gun, which was fixed with a tiny bit of sanding.

    Chernobyl?

  5. @Disco,

Sorry, with the BOLT deformed/defective at this time, I can *NO LONGER* perform a FULL magazine dump. I want the record to be straight that BEFORE the bolt was damaged, I was able to perform the FULL dump... :(

thanks, good and bad news. Mostly bad. Hopefully someone makes a replacement BCG worthy of this gun's coolness. VFC remains quite lame where it counts.

  6. I guess I was trying to be supportive, but you've just shot that out of the water, well done. I suppose I should have said "Give it up reppyboyo and buy ra-tech parts", but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Oh its a harsh world after all.

Serious note:- Hope you do get the replacement parts Reppyboyo and that WE will have improved the parts and thats why the parts are delayed.

Only generalizing, I just happened to quote your post to get started.

  7. Ah *fruitcage* , that is seriously bad news. Hopefully I'm just being pessimistic and you'll get the replacement parts, soon.

Is there an assumption the replacement parts won't be made of the same slurry as the originals? If not, who really cares if replacement parts are available? Is anyone seriously interested in buying more of the same garbage? What am I missing here? WE will give the molds to RA-Tech in return for a piece of the sales and the charade will continue with their next release and their next and ....

  8.

    Whoa there Mr. Anger issues!

    No need for such hostilities.

Im the one with the broken gun and I aint even that angry about it.

Up until it did fail was probably amongst the best skirmishing I have done in airsoft.

Skirmish the *suitcase* out of it and claim on warranty on the 14th day. :D

EDIT: HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHA the hammer just snapped in half! pics incoming

His break line linkages? Potmetal as well! His pacemaker? You guessed it! Potmetal! The cables holding his elevator...well, you get the idea.

  9. Someone needs to make a replica of the Vityaz laser seen on the Inokatsu pics. It is surely the shizzle

and would make it easier to look past the many faults this gun is certain to have.

On second thought, WE can keep this. I'm tired of seeing them peddling half-assed ###### with their slick little u-tube hustles. I hope the axles in Jame's car are made of pot-metal.

  10. Now I'm convinced, RA-Tech pays WE to use monkey metal on certain parts. There is just no reason not to add an extra $25 dollars to the price of the gun and do it right the first time. I recall the original video post by WE (since edited) specified that steel parts would be used throughout the trigger group. Looking forward to more input from the beta testers.

  11. It was shipped complete. Just slap it in.

Just ask them for the new version m4 bolt.

I hope they don't throw away the dyes for the old ones. Anyone have any opinions on whether this new bolt makes the KJW less importable?

  12. My initial guess is that they haven't changed the valve which means the reducer would work. The piston is obviously not compatible but perhaps their urethane deals will work in this application. Without inspecting the mechanism it's hard to say. I'm most worried about prematurely wearing of the bolt catch surface. Every other system that uses this style carrier arrangement suffers in this area. The steel pin through the plastic bolt cup was a great design move by TK its a shame they ditched it.

As you seem more than qualified to answer, any thoughts on why they changed the design? Would this be cheaper to produce? Just hope they aren't dumbing things down.

  13. No, legally they can't do anything for you.

There is an implied warranty on anything you buy to protect consumers from 'hidden defects', 'reasonable' is a subjective warranty term and is open to interpretation by the credit card company, it really doesn't protect AirSplat from anything. KJW's policy doesn't matter to Samuel, they aren't party to the transaction. If he can provide proof that the product is defective there is no reason he can't have charges reversed. If he lied about his age he may havie trouble but it also may help. I don't think the CC company will reverse the charges either, but not because they can't.

Regarding him calling you...me joking! Him need new hobby, perhaps yoga. For the love of God, Samuel, please handle the rest of this yourself and send a postcard when it's over.

  14. Serious question: Have you been diagnosed with ADD (or ADHD, as you seem young)? Your handling of this is classic ADD. OK, I'm going to solve your problem, but you have to pay attention this time. Contact your credit card company, or PayPal. Explain that you bought a product that is defective. Tell them you have tried to work it out (be prepared to provide back-up) to no avail and you want your money back. This may take a little time, but you should be able to get your money back if you are capable of presenting a solid argument. When you get it, buy a croquet set; it is great fun and will fit well with your stress tolerance profile.

Also, know that your problem is between yourself and the retailer, not KJW. They may try to help you but don't count on it. Now, if your're a fate-tempting, nail-chewing devil-dog, skip the croquet set and buy the CQBR from another retailer. If you have problems again...call FrogFish.
