  1. As has previously been discussed on the Arnies Facebook page I feel it would be beneficial for the forums to make the entire "Airsoft Chat" section visible to everyone who visits, regardless of whether they are logged in or not.

Right now, unregistered users/guests can only see the "Airsoft News" section, and an FAQ section, neither of which do a good job of demonstrating the incredible amount and variety of content that is available on the forums. Content that could act as a draw to new users such as the picture sections and project discussions are completely hidden with no indication that they actually exist! As it stands, the two forum sections that are visible currently give off the impression that the forums are barely active and barely used.

I'm of the opinion that making these sections of the forums visible to everyone would help show that Arnies is a thriving forum which in turn would hopefully draw more people back from other sites such as Facebook, or draw in new players to register.

  2. Why not a combination of both?

Drop the post limit down to say 50, and require all photos to include a named and dated piece of paper as well. That seems like a happy middle ground to me.

I can't say I have bought or sold much in the way of secondhand from here or Zero In, but I think both systems work to a degree. Merging the two may work even better than they do separately.

While yes the system here is good, we can't deny the fact that there have been scammers on here and generally dodgy people. All you need to do is look at the "Problems with sales online" section of the forums to see the various issues that have occurred.

I don't think it would hurt to review the system as it is currently, to see what kind of alternatives are available.

  3. My rifle as it currently stands:

G&P LMT TR by MrRWJP, on Flickr

    Parts list:

    G&P LMT TR

    MagPul PTS CTR OD
MagPul PTS MOE Pistol Grip OD

    MagPul PTS AFG2 OD

    MagPul PTS EMag

Element eM300a Weaponlight on Element Thorntail Light mount

G&P Aimpoint Comp M2 on Clone KAC Mount

    Tokyo Marui Rail Covers (Temporary)

I'll be replacing the rail covers soon with something more fitting the colour scheme, and I also have a KAC rear sight on the way from a seller on here to compliment the KAC front site that comes with the gun. I might also pick up one of the OD covers for the Aimpoint to tie it in a little better. Internally it's stock, other than me changing it over to Deans connectors.

  4. Mine has just arrived from Combat South who have it in stock for £39.95 + £5 P&P.

Initial impressions are good. Light output seems impressive (tested in my pitch black loft) when using a fresh Duracell battery. Build quality is pretty decent as well, although the thread holding the head of the torch to the body is incredibly short, so a knock might do some major damage.

Biggest issue I have with mine is that Cross bolt for the mount spins freely, so it's very difficult to really tighten the mount up onto the rifle properly. I'm going to be getting one of the Gear Sector/HSP/LaRue low profile mounts for mine though.

All in all, definitely worth it for the price.

  5. Same experience here. Plenty of "server is too busy" errors over the last two or so days, a couple of SQL errors as well. Two nights back I was unable to access the site between about 7pm and Midnight.

  6. Mine feels OK so far. When I fitted it, I loosened the mounts right off, swung them into place, and then tightened them back down as hard as possible with an adjustable spanner. There is a minimal amount of flex in it still, but definitely not enough to cause issues.

It's not been skirmished tested yet though, so I could be entirely wrong!

  7. Finally, after a couple of years of buying no new guns, I gave in, and splurged:

    G&P LMT Tactical Rifle.

This thing is beautiful. I've lost count of the trades on it, LMT, VLTOR, Wilcox, TangoDown... Needs a little work on the hop unit, as is usual with G&Ps the hop on mine can barely lift a 0.2 to 100 feet.

The AFG is borrowed off a friends rifle, but I intend to get myself one soon, along with some decent rail covers.

  8. This has turned into one hell of a discussion that no longer has anything to do with Firesupport.

All I want to say on the point is this... Mack Bolan, do you really expect Firesupport to go out of their way and state exactly what gases can and can't be used in each pistol they sell? If so, they may as well stop selling guns right now, it'll take them decades to research and test every single gas available on the planet with every single pistol they sell.

As has been mentioned, they do make a recommendation of what should/shouldn't be used, the rest is down to common sense. It's a massively well known fact that the recommended gas for TM pistols in 134a/144a/Duster. Most cans of gas state what is in them anyway, so all it would have taken was for you to check your can, google it, and find out other people's experiences were!

So, i'm sorry your pistol is broken, but blaming Firesupport is wrong. You used the wrong gas, you voided the warranty by doing so, and Firesupport were well within their rights to say no to fixing it. for free.

  9. Fobus holsters i find work best, so long as you haven't got a big front sight and are using the standard cut of slide on your pistol.

    'FireKnife'

Aye, I was hoping to go with a Fobus, but the enormous mounting lug on the V1911/310r gets in the way!

  10. I have the same problem with holster choice at the moment as I have no idea if the rail on my Springfield replicates a rs version?... Anyone got any ideas?

Elite Shooting Centre do a Fobus holster which has a cut out where the rail fits so that would work. It's the EMC holster on this page: Linky I was looking at the same one for my 1911, but because of the way the V1911 fits, the thumb break wouldn't be able to close properly... For me it's either a Safariland, or some form of fabric holster, or a mag pouch...

  11. Updated picture of my 1911

    TM 1911 MEU(SOC)

    Carom Wood Grips

VFC V1911 Tactical Illuminator (arrived this morning)

Edit: Have realised one slight issue though... I don't have a holster that fits it! <_< And finding a Safariland for it is proving to be difficult and expensive...:angry22:

  12. I'm up to 6 orders with Firesupport now, including two AEGs and Two pistols and i'd recommend them to anybody.

Nice easy website, accurate stock counts (why can't more sites do this?) and good order tracking...

Their customer service is spot on and the problems i've had (one broken piston, and one faulty pistol OOTB) have been sorted quickly and without fuss.

My general rule of thumb is, if Firesupport have it, i'll buy it from them.

  13. The G&P Aimpoint I bought recently does have the Sun Power System sticker, and does have a slight blue tint to the lens. Nothing as severe as Jin15s though... It's noticeable, but really causes no problems.

Other than that, it's an awesome optic, lovely and solid, and the dot is perfect.

  14. Two ARU officers visited my college last week, and they were both using Sig P226s with a Torch of some description in dropleg Safariland Holsters.

(Chatting to them later on they told me that they are switching their Sigs for Glock 17s as they are cheaper.)

  15. buzzsaw, do you have to get your eye right up against the rubber eyepiece to actually see through the Star SUSAT?

If that is the case, then (for me at least) the eye relief would be identical between the real thing and the replica... I can only look through a real steel SUSAT with the rubber eyepiece right up against my eyebrow...

  16. That's exactly what I thought... Everyone is issued with sets of greens... And the squaddies going out there just aren't taking them with them...

And I believe that Temperate UBACS have just started being produced... None of the serving soldiers I know have got one yet, but there are some around and about.

  17. Now look at the new vehicals like the supercat (saw about 20 of them at fremington they were awesome and decided to distract us from drill with the hydralics) they have either a M2 HB or HK GMG with 2 GPMG in the very front and on the back, the best example i can find is the royal marines new landing assault craft with 2 M2 HBs or HK GMG OR A DILLON GATLING GUN :o then double GPMGs on the front and more GPMGs on the back wouldent have seen that before afghan or the early stages of afghan would you.

You do know that the British have mounted multiple weapons on vehicles since World War 2? Try 5 Vickers machine guns on Willys Jeeps used by the SAS in World War 2.

Or the infamous Pink Landrovers, similarily armed with multiple weapons (I can't remember exactly what in this case though)

On the topic of things like SLRs... We didn't adopt them earlier because we didn't need them... The Lee Enfield was (and probably still is) one of the best Bolt Action rifles in the world. We looked at adopting the FN FAL (which became the L1A1 SLR) as early as 1950.

You also comment on how our lack of upgrading is especially noticable during peacetime...

Obvious situation is obvious. Why on earth would we need to fast track military upgrades if we're not at war with anyone?

In the end, the British Army's "way of doing things" is based off the simple principle of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". We still use PLCE, because it works (although as has been seen it is now becoming out-dated and the Army is replacing it with Molle on Osprey), we kept Lee Enfields for ages, because they were brilliant rifles.

ON the DPM kits, i'm immensely jealous of all the Osprey stuff surfacing. I've tried on a friends set and it sat brilliantly, so I want some of my own for my 'yellows'.
