Bit of an odd question, but does anybody know where I could buy a buffer tube that is threaded at the receiver end and is secured by a castle nut but will take AEG spec stocks? Got a 5ku buffer tube for another project thinking that a PTS ASC would fit it, but it doesn't. I need the threading/nut instead of any of any other mounting system commonly used on AEGs

Its slightly front heavy, mostly because of the rail system (even though its pretty light). The AFG and covers weigh next to nothing, so they don't really hurt. I haven't noticed it being too bad, but I'll let you know after I play saturday.

Once I figured out how to install it (no instructions in the box and I couldn't find anything on the internet) it really wasn't all that bad. The first time I tried to put it on I only used one barrel clamp and overtightened the lever that presses against the barrel to hold it steady, and I didn't notice that I had started to warp the receiver. Fixed that with a mallet, used both clamps and shes rock steady right now, and the overall quality is great. very impressed with it for the money. I'll probably pick up a T-1 as well, but I would like to have something with magnification kicking around. The comp m4 is very popular on real steel tactical AKs, although the size turns me away from it. The Mag-K does indeed have a CTR + cheek rest, but I've always found the sloped sides of the LMT SOPMOD/ACS stock to be much more comfortable, so I went with that. The real steel uses a different rail cover/grip set-up as well, but again, I find the AFG to be more comfortable. depending on the brand, it can take a while to set properly. Rustoleum rubs off like crazy for a few weeks after I use it. Try a high quality matte coat, like alumahyde II clear

Just talked to my machinist (also happens to be my father ) and we hashed out a design for a buffer tube adapter that could attach directly to a receiver with a left folding stock without the need to weld the anything to the receiver or anything like that. All you would need to do is tap out the pin holding the stock in, put the adapter in, and put the pin back. The stock would be able to fold but not lock in place. We'll be making it within the next two weeks, and if it's easy (and cheap) enough to mill I might have a run made if there is any interest. UltimAK will be here n

Just found a picture of a real steel configured like that, it actually looks pretty good! I'll probably end up going this route, thanks! Ordered the buffer tube and ACS, now to get the adapter machined and welded to my receiver... After that only the UltimAK and AFG/RVG left until I officially decide on an optic.

Anyone have any advice for a decent magnified optic set-up for an AK? I'm building a mag-k replica, but I want something magnified instead of the T-1 that is on the real steel. I'm thinking of using the side rail mount and putting a short-dot/SPR mount on it. I'm guessing nobody has ever done anything so blasphemous, but does anyone have pictures of something like this? Or really any scope/mount that doesn't look like *suitcase* on a tactical AK?

Ahh, I thought the only difference was the barrel length and stock. My bad. Also, anyone know if you can fit a lipo in a 5ku WA m4 buffer tube? EDIT: anyone know if you can take the shell off of the ARES SR25 mags? Want to try to hack together some LR20s from real steel mags and ares internals

Anyone have any issues using an eotech on a railed gas tube? What type of stock do you use with it? Looking at an XPS on an ultimak for the summer, seems like it would be a little high though with a rommy sidefolder.

Since real sword corrected the receiver length, would it be fair to assume that you can fit a real steel receiver cover to it? Anyone try to fit a new front sight and slant muzzle break to the t 56? I would think a new stock wouldn't be to hard to hack on to get it pretty close to an AKM if you can replace the front sight and muzzle break.

I was super excited until I found out that I can't use the pile of AK mags I have now, and that they took the worst part of a v2 and defiled the v3 with it. But, whatever, the $500 I had marked for the ACR will probably go to the RS m4. Can't wait to see more of it, especially what they're doing with the hop-up.

Anyone else more excited for the real sword m4 than they are for the PTS ACR?

If you have screws instead on the bottom of the receiver, it's a TM.

unless it's the newer one model that's more VFC than anything. All of my "VFC clones" have had a cm.02 gearbox. easiest way to check is if it has screws showing on the bottom of the receiver, which would make it a marui clone.

So getting that iphone case. Also, lack of airsoft EMAGs fail. So much better looking than the pmags imo.

Ahh, thanks for the correction mate! Tbh I just picked it up for the hell of it, so I'm not too worried about it. The guy I bought it from didn't actually tell me what it was, I just kind of guessed.

Picked up a few bits at a local gun show. Rommy furniture, unknown AKM gas block and muzzle brake AK74 bayonet, so dull that it couldn't hurt a hemophiliac. Probably going to pick up a CM.050 for the receiver, and juggle parts around until I end up with an AKS-74, AKM, and PA md. 68 carbine
