  1. It's the $12 LA-5/PEQ battery box with a few cosmetic mods, plus an Insight switch and visible laser. The working one is the same box with a red laser and no pressure switch--IMHO not worth messing with. Aside from a discontinued Japanese conversion kit for a PEQ-15 there's no other replica LA-5. The circle is an FMA weapon link, and it's pretty similar in color to the Madbull DD anodizing. I have no complaints about the VFC rear sight. My front sight actually a G&P or Element, dismantled and painted to look as close to KAC taupe as I could get it. Fake, and
  2. I spray a light coat of Aervoe camo paint and wipe it off immediately with alcohol; I've done various parts of the gun at different times with different colors. The butt pad came from a gun shop. DuraCoat Daniel Defense FDE New photos:
  3. My balcony has poor lighting, but the Duracoat color is identical to Daniel Defense. Up close you can tell by the texture and lack of metallic sheen that it's paint: I wound up dusting it with khaki afterwards.
  4. My TT-33 Tokarev, lightly weathered with a polished barrel. It still doesn't look blued, but hitting the flat surfaces with some ultra fine sanding film made the paint seem less matte.
  5. Did anyone else get the sudden urge to go bowling?
  6. Trade reform would cut that eventually. Rip off the big, scabby bandaid of our Western addiction to cheap foreign goods. Anyways, here's the Tallboy pouch on a belt:
  7. I ran out of stuff to do to my Block II, so I Duracoated the rail in DD's chocolate milk brown. In hindsight, a dusting of khaki and brown would have sufficed.
  8. I've got a better top cover on the way, but I might just go full Khyber Pass and make one out of steel.

    WE XDM

You can't AFAIK, Springfield only offered them in paddle and belt versions. If you want one off-the-shelf, get a SERPA with the MOLLE platform. However: My fake XDM Gear holster from Ebairsoft mounts to its paddle with a single bolt surrounded by locking teeth. The MLS accessory fork has similar (but not identical) locking teeth, and when secured with a new bolt of the appropriate length is sturdy enough for airsoft purposes. It's adjustable to any angle, and works well on a thigh rig, too:
  10. Very cool. I'd add the T1 top cover next.
  11. Very nice Striders, I'm jealous. Wouldn't even know which one to pick. Any recommendations for a reasonably priced medium size (say around 4 1/4" closed) flipper?
  12. I haven't tried Tapatalk yet, does it allow you to turn off those dumb signatures or are you guys doing that by choice?
  13. You could keep a flashlight or any other QD thingy handy on it, but the main reason is probably decoration. Springfield puts rails on the XDM mag pouches and even the case.
  14. It's the fake Docter with a power switch on the mount instead of a light sensor, that I chopped up a long time ago to put on a SpecterDR. All I did was drill a couple of holes in the top cover and tap matching ones in the mount. It's nice to find a use for an optic that was kicking around my parts box forever, but not a method I would recommend. I was originally going to use the mini RDS base portion of this mount from the same parts box, which would have turned out a little nicer and possibly sat lower. It tapers at the base, but not quite enough to sit flat inside the rear sight, s
  15. After a long break from the AK platform, my new suchka: CM045A with a Dboys FH, replica Docter on a homemade mount, refinished handguards, and a cheek pad borrowed from an SVD. I fakelited a couple L&G "flash" Lonex knockoff mags--they work very well once filed down to fit the magwell. On order: surplus Ukranian sling, midcaps (maybe I'll get industrious and file the ridges off this time), Dboys laminated furniture. It's internally stock apart from a lipo and some hopup voodoo. Tallying the cost from bone stock to meeting my looks and performance standards, this is by fa

    WE XDM

I've got a replica of the railed version of that holster; I'm not a fan of the paddle but it mounted nicely to a Safariland MLS accessory fork: Retention is a little stiffer than I'd prefer with a WE XDM, even with the screw removed completely, but I'm sure a file or Dremel can fix it.
  17. Another all-in-one rig like my LBB, but lighter and more versatile: Phalanx type 4 with TAG bib, Fight Light pouches, KYWI inserts, GG lightweight assault pack, Source hydration. Open top pouches for four+two AR or AK mags and four pistol mags. The holster is a replica Springfield mounted to a Safariland MLS accessory fork; I've ordered an XDM compact to keep the bulk to a minimum, but it works fine with the full size. The pack acts as a rear harness thanks to ITW split buckles, split ladders, and QASMs. Also shown is the BFG tourniquet holder: elastic straps on a plastic
  18. Good old SKD, always my first choice. Hatch operator is my favorite tough glove, but I wear the Mechanix originals more often because they feel less restrictive, plus they're cheap enough to toss when they (inevitably) rip. Those OR gloves look a lot like Mechanix; I might have to give them a try.
  19. What about Hurricane and VFC receivers? I already know G&P and Hurricanes don't fit together.
  20. It's this switch; it snapped right on to this light and my old PRO&T AN/PEQ-15. Not much to say except that it works, and seems better made than the one that came with the light. It won't work with Element lights, but it's cheap so you won't feel too bad if you splice it.
  21. The GLM is dead simple, what reliability issues did you have? Not my video, but check out 1:14 for three grenades 1 kill: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HNdSRb-Hm0&feature=plcp I'm guarding a hostage in a staged MOUT scenario this weekend, so I'll be using mine as a giant shotgun to resist room clearing: Loaded with S-thunder PB shockers of course. I prefer CO2 but I think I'll stick to propane for close encounters.
  22. Swapped the RAID dual switch for SR-D-IT and the BGV-ITI for a Dieter.
  23. I'm not ashamed to admit that I love spring assisted flippers.
