Yes, it's a Cyma I picked up on impulse at ASGI.
  2. Short answer: Dremeling. Long answer: I cut the bottom off the front sight block, added a grub screw to sure it to the barrel in its current location, and notched the suppressor to fit around it. I know it's become a bit of a fantasy build, but it could maybe be a Rock Sopmod in a Sage chassis with a custom can.
  3. It's the current version of the tan G&P "destinator"; the original limited run had a different finish.

Updated my Mod 1 with a new scope, grip, front sight, and some paint: The HK battle grip was great, but the BCM Mod 3 has a slightly better trigger reach with the same grip angle.
  5. Thanks, you guys are making me blush. Since I can't do too much more to the MK18, I've been busy butchering my EBR:
  6. Thanks Horsem4n, yeah it really needs to be an extended type mount, with the front ring at or near the back of the rail clamp. Primary arms makes one for around $60, but the more I look at them the less I want one. Too bad there isn't an AD Recon-X replica. My M14SCSB (diving board) is too loose in the dovetail, and tilts back when the set screw is tightened. I was able to level it with shims, so I guess I'll stick with plain old scope rings for now.
  7. That would work too, but hanging a variable zoom scope off of a single ring is visually even worse than sticking the back ring on the dodgy diving board. An extended dual ring cantilever scope base would be "correct" for an EBR, like this out-of-production King Arms SPR-E.
  8. It looked pretty good with my SRS clone--I just really prefer a magnified optic for this type of gun. I've been using a Leupold Mark 4 clone and standard rings on the "diving board" rail section, but it doesn't line up very well (as you can tell from the photos). If you don't screw it down too tight to the stripper clip mount the front ring will pull the scope into alignment--it feels solid enough but in the back of my mind I always knew it was a bodge job.
  9. My Mod 1 got some paint and BCM grips while it's waiting on a new scope: I'm thinking of ditching the diving board and getting a scope base--something that's light, works with the Sage chassis, and won't break the bank. Any ideas?
  10. I really noticed how natural that reduced grip angle is while going back and forth from an HK Battlegrip to an A1, especially if you spend a lot of time at low ready. Unfortunately it's way too narrow at the top for me--if I take a firm grip the trigger nests in my second finger joint. I've got a BCM Mod 3 (the fatter one) grip on the way, and the MOE-K2 also looks promising. Then there's this thing. As for motor grips, I think the Stark and certain Ergo grips have reduced sweep; not sure about the airsoft versions though.
  11. Good thing you're here to defend VFC and their low melting temperature. My cheap old Element NT4 cooked to a nice golden brown: Later I painted over most of it:
  12. I was referring to the launcher--a veritable antique by airsoft standards.
  13. Took a few new pics of the loadout room: Mags and ammo: LBE:
  14. I love it too, but it required extensive cutting. The forend was even worse, and I'm not even going to keep it. And yes to your second question. In point of fact the G&P shotguns and the cheap Shun Yang models are both Maruzen clones; more info here.
  15. Brownell's paint (Alumahyde) takes a long time to cure and leaves a thick, tough coat. It's like a cheaper, simpler alternative to DuraCoat. If you want to do a long lasting solid or camo paintjob with a "clean" look I'd recommend spending the extra for DuraCoat; it's available in more colors, flatter finishes, and goes on thinner. For "dirty" camouflage and general airsoft use I like Aervoe--easy to apply, somewhat removable, inexpensive, and comes in lots of useful matte colors. I get it from DSG Arms or Tactical Concealment. Both Alumahyde and Aervoe nozzles have a nasty tend
  16. My CA870 clone with RS parts:
  17. I've got some pics that fit here. Here's an 870 grip I liked so much I bought a breacher shotgun to stick it on: Unity Tactical Fusion front sight/mount with DBAL and Scout, for night ops on a rail real estate challenged bullpup: LA-5/PEQ, KAC can, and M720V from my never-finished block II:
  18. Minor tweaks for my workhorse CQBRs: WML and Eotech replace the M720V and SpecterDR on the block 2: Customized a dual switch for the DBAL and Surefire, and went back to the original scout mount so both can be quickly removed for daytime ops. I'll probably replace the SRS with a standard Aimpoint:
  19. That makes me miss my old PDW, despite the fact that it was a first run WE and therefore junk: Just the other day I was eyballing a cheap plastic AEG PDW in a bargain bin, wondering if I couldn't stick a standard V2 gearbox and a nice motor in it.

This is better--my wrist loves the BCM VFG. Now I'm thinking it needs a more compact short dot style scope.
  21. Nevermind, answered my own question by rereading this thread on a bigger (non-phone) screen, one of the photos showed it clearly.
  22. I got them from Combat Gearing IIRC, but please don't use one to protect yourself against anything more substantial than wind. Airsoft GI just listed the Emerson helmets and visors for sale as Lancer Tactical rebrands, touting them as BB resistant up to 400 FPS, which I fear will not end well.
