  1. Morning everyone,

    I'm starting to consider switching from the KWA LM4 to a WE system for a couple of reasons - Mainly, more guns available for one kinda mag, generally cheaper guns and parts, and easier availability of aftermarket bits and Co2 mags. I've been lurking this thread since day one, so I've got a pretty good idea of the WE's foibles. However, a couple of minor questions;

With WE's latest models, i.e, Gen 3(?) - Am I correct in thinking most stock issues are sorted and it'll run well for a decent period in stock condition, other than some experimenting with hop rubbers?

Steel trigger groups; I've established the CWI parts are the best option to go for, but they seem quite hard to track down - Is a steel trigger pack necessary, or will the stock WE set up last for a decent amount of time? (If it'll do somewhere close to 10k rounds before bits need replacing, I can live with that).

Co2 mags; Are the WE Co2 mags pretty decent? Do they give any major consistency issues (high powered first few rounds or anything?)

Getting one with a trademarked lower; AirsoftGlobal seems to be the only place I can find with trademarked lowers; Is there anywhere else, ideally in the UK that does the versions with markings?

Real steel bits; Am I correct in thinking the WE can be modded to take real uppers, as well as having R/S spec'd buffer tube/upper receiver threads?

    Appreciate all the help, cheers!

*edit* Also, assuming R/S uppers can be modded to fit; Is there any reason a left handed upper wouldn't work? Seeing as I shoot rifles lefty, it'd be quite nice to have a proper left handed upper. Plus it'd baffle everyone.

  2. oh yes you're right, the brass is damaged, it looks like possibly the knocker missed and schmucked it, but I have never seen a valve failure like this before

is the kriss valve proprietary at all or will any KWA flow valve work?

Every KWA/KSC gun I've owned has had the same flow valve, so you should be fine with a spare - Can't confirm that first hand, but it'd shock me if the KRISS valve was proprietary.

  3. Anyone had an issue with the Ra-Tech real gun function bolt catch? I installed it correctly and I can lock the bolt back with it but when Im shooting with an empty mag the bolt rarely locks back and when it does it goes back as soon as I take the magazine out. Is there a solution to this problem?

That's often a symptom of whatever pushes the bolt catch up from the magazine not pushing it up enough; The easiest fix is to add material to the underside of the bolt catch so it gets a more positive engagement with the bolt (generally a bit of credit card superglued in place is a good way of doing it). That's obviously assuming part of the magazine pushes the bolt catch up on empty with the M14, which I'm not familiar with, although I can't imagine how else it'd lock the bolt....

  4. A quick bit of maths regarding muzzle energies:

    Typical AEG: 328fps with 0.20g BB = 1J

    Typical Bolt-Action Sniper: 400fps with 0.36g BB = 2.66J

    SAT Cheytac: 378fps with 0.48g BB = 3.17J

To put that into context, a 0.20g BB carrying 3.17J would exit the barrel at 586fps. God only knows how much power these things put out with CO2. Also, it looks like they make a stainless-steel slide for the Marui Beretta 92 derivatives - I wonder if that fits the CO2 KJW Berettas...

    Also this: http://sat-gunshop.com/pdt_view.asp?sn=310

Totally off topic, but first place I've seen selling a replace bolt for the KWA - Not that my bolt doesn't still look factory fresh, but a swiss cheesed and CQB appropriate bolt would be handy!

  5. Crop out a bit of the bottom of the last picture so it's just a gun amongst the spring tree blossoms.

Then post it all on the hippy/nuclear disarmament/pro gun-control websites you can find that have forums.

    ?

    Profit.

'The tree is hugging this gun, and you hug trees, therefore you must also love guns.'

    Flawless logic.

  6. The DD MFR is a really nice looking rail, and it also strangely looks very nice when you wrap it in carbon fibre stuff! :P

The Madbull version is actually the only MB rail I've really liked; No problems with the rail spec, the barrel nut went onto a G&P receiver without a problem and there was no FAO mark on it, as well as the gas system fitting in it - If only MB made every rail like that!

  7. Internally it looks exactly the same as the PDW; Hopefully that'll mean pre-existing PDW internals (available from Samoon) should fit in case any bits go wrong. Saying that, the GHK PDW is generally pretty damn reliable, I had mine for about 3,000 rounds and there was no wear to be concerned about in that space of time.

When you say the hop is adjusted by a tool, do you mean an Allen key or some sort of pokey device to nudge a wheel or similar? Going on the 'If it's a PDW inside' thing, the hop was my only real issue with it.

  8. Speaking of "For Airsoft Only" description and Madbull, it seems that miracle has happened - I don't see any on NSR rails...

Strangely, Madbull's DD MFR doesn't have the FAO marking, and also allows the use of a gas block and tube without modifying it.. It seems they like to vary their degree of 'How much shall we mess up this rail' depending on the model!

That only makes any sense if you consider all rails to be the same. It's not as though Madbull make a Samson rail, is it?

Entirely fair enough - Although I bet if you asked Samson nicely if they could ship you any other R/S rail they probably would! :P

Compared to the Evo, there are no other rails! ;)

After using it at the Sandpit all day today, I'm thoroughly in agreement - It weighs absolutely nothing, and the width and smoothed out rail mounting holes make it very comfy to use - Definitely a good investment!

    Also, took some nicer pictures at a friend's last night;

  9. Thanks man - Ridiculously easy install as well! I'm thoroughly amazed at how light it actually is, when I received the box I was actually a little concerned they'd forgotten to put the rail in it before opening it.

Again, massive thumbs up for Samson's service 'n all - Noone has an excuse to buy a Madbull rail when you can get an R/S one cheaper! (£121 including USPS Priority from the US, as opposed to £120 + Shipping for a Madbull DD MFR in the UK).

  10. I added it to the comment of the video.

As for MAGPUL, yes, they can make everything in my life! I am not much for being a fanboi or loving a company rather than their products, but dangit, MAGPUL are just overall awesome! :D

Regarding the shades, I actually have a 5.11 Soar polarized sunglasses review coming up, they are really nice! :D

See I *fruitcage* love 90% of the stuff Magpul make, and I generally like the company. I also like baiting Magpul haters and the like for comedy purposes; I wouldn't consider myself a fanboy though, because not everything Magpul makes is mind blowingly awesome and PTS have come out with a noticeable amount of rubbish.

5.11 shades you say? I shall have to google this...
