  1. Yes - Samson are an excellent company to deal with and it's one of the few cool rails you can buy direct from the US.

I'm not familiar with the LM4's barrel nut, but it may be you can mod the thermal bushing which comes with the rail instead. It's a two part sleeve which fits between the rail and the barrel nut.

Otherwise, I think the Evo is pretty forgiving with RS barrel nuts. It definitely fits the Systema OEM barrel nut - so you may be able to pick one up, cheap.

Ahh that's awesome news; I've watched the installation video on Samson's website and it all looks very simple, I just hope the KWA barrel nut is close enough for it all to fit. Still, it's nice to know there's an easily available barrel nut I can replace it with if the KWA one won't go.

Really impressed with Samson's attitude, it's nice to find a US company with a 'Thanks for your business' attitude as opposed to the usual '*fruitcage* off, ITAR' types!

  2. Alphas can be funny with different RS barrel nuts, as well...or rather, not all RS barrel nuts are exactly the same.

I posted an install link a page or so back - it says which brand RS barrel nut I used, so I know that one is good to go.

Well I've just ordered the 9" Samson EVO II (Several points for Samson's Customer Service, so far they've been awesome) - I'm gonna try it out on the stock LM4 nut, and if it's a no-go I'll just have to get the upper re-cut for an R/S one and get one of those on order; I'll check out the install link and try and go for the same brand nut - I figure if it's good on a VTAC it should be fine on the Samson.

According to usCmcorps it is not. Sadly I do not have many RS parts to test such thing.

You happen to know someone who can make the re-cut work within the EU? :)

I had a chance to try a few types of handguards in the past years, and I find the Vtac the best for me so far. That setup I got now is pretty much an ideal one. Finally.

Yes, I read that. Thanks for it.

It took me like 3 hours of filing and trying with a stock KSC barrel nut. And there is still a gap between the tube and the receiver.

I have a feeling CKinnerley recently bought the re-threading tool; I'm not 100% sure but I seem to remember him mentioning it. Might be worth asking him nicely, possibly with a bribe of tea? :P

I've tried all kinds of handguards as well... The VTAC is very nice, but I find it a bit slim for me; I don't find the thumb over bore grip particularly comfortable and I tend to keep my thumb on the pedal on the side of the rail, so I'm hoping the EVO being slightly wider should be a bit more comfy. Plus it looks awesome, and I should be able to get a Madbull Gemtech G5 in it.

  3. Haha okay, Ill start saving my pennies.

Hmmmm, That holosight looks familiar xD

It should do! :P Very happy with it, easily zeroed and couldn't ask for more really. Strangely the green seems to be slightly brighter than the red - Not that I mind, I prefer the green reticle to the red anyway - Either way, definitely the best £40 I've spent in a while!

  4. What size battle rail and barrel combo in your last pic please? Looks lovely!

Thanks man - It's a 9" VTAC Rail with a standard M4A1 14.5" barrel; It's got a removable 4" extension on the barrel, I generally run it as a 10.5 in games but the 14.5 looks way better.

  5. I'd rather be hit by a single .3 than 15 .2's, but the heavier whack of a .3 definitely helps when you're only hitting people with one or two shots.

As for lowering FPS without an NPAS, I've always just cut down the inner barrel; Admittedly you don't have any adjustability, but I've never suffered a loss in performance as a result. My old WOC had a 6" inner barrel and the thing was a tack driver :P

  6. With the G39, the full auto issue, from what I've seen in a friends, tends to be the nozzle not sealing properly with the bucking when returning to battery in full auto before cycling rearwards again; This leads to a lot of the gas escaping, hence the first shot being fine, and all consecutive shots dropping.

Still, full auto in a GBBR, unless it's the summer, is a bit pointless anyway.

  7. Could a Dremel or drill solve the problem? I've had two Madbull rails that were blocked and needed a metal removal to fit the gas tube into place.

You could drill it out, but it'd be a hell of a job and you'd need a 9" long drill bit - As the rail isn't a two piece, it'd be a nightmare. Basically, the entire section where the gas tube would sit is just solid metal.

  8. I actually had no idea two of the guys had mags in guns! You'll have to ignore George (far right), he is known as the "worlds most experienced noob" to us as he refuses to buy new kit lol. He only just bought the ATT trousers to try and make a team effort lol.

Damn I look good. Also, I did safety check the LM4 before that picture, no BB's anywhere near it :P

  9. It really is tough to remove the first time - I had a friend leaning pretty much his entire weight on the strongest part of the nozzle body, and I gave the punch a few serious wallops with a hammer - Perseverance is the key, once it moves a mm, it'll be out in no time. It's just that first mm is a *badgeress*.

  10. Well there are some strong muscles in the foot.. might try just roping my brother in to lend a hand first before I try that method though.

I had a buddy hold the part on a table and just used the smallest pin punch I could find. It scratched up the plastic, but I did get it out without an issue.

Also, my feed lips are dead between three mags. I've been retention reloading, but if a mag just falls out when I'm running or something, it's just game over. Anybody sourced feed lips for the LM4 PMAGs, or is contacting KWA directly the best option at this point?

Second pair of hands (Or toes, although I didn't try that myself) definitely helps - I was getting nowhere until I got a mate to hold the nozzle solid while I punched the pin.

Also, Akira - Much appreciate the FPS video, I've knocked my LM4 down to 350 on a hot mag, and it sits around 320-330 at room temperature. Couldn't have figured that out without the video, so cheers!

  11. Thanks guys, I was already doing this but coming from single action only guns, it's a little disconcerting not to have a proper thumb safety, I'm sure I'll get used to it mind you :)

Has anyone heard of any possibility of companies making upgrade parts for the m9a1?

I'm not looking for a metal kit or anything, as this is now going to be my all-year workhorse, but perhaps a threaded barrel/extended tightbore/silencer combo would interest me, maybe some new grips?

That's a good q actually, I assume the grip panels are the same fitment as the m9, I know they are weighted. Anyone tried to fit real steel or hogue-esque grips to their m9a1?

I'm fairly confident the grips should be fine - I don't think anything has changed from the original design other than the weights. Perhaps some work with a dremel, but I don't think it'll be a huge task.

Tightbore wise, the gun already puts out 305-310FPS on a warm day with Green Gas - Chucking an extended tightbore in it is likely to put it around 350, if not higher depending on the length.

Standard tightbore wise, I'm sure Nineball have probably done one as well, but here ya go:

    http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/Accessories_Precision_Barrels_GBB_Raven_PDI_Standard_Inner_Barrel_for_Tokyo_Marui_M9A1.htm

That'll more than likely chuck another 20FPS on it, and you can also fit VSR style hop buckings now - I've had fantastic results from the AIP tan bucking, which is cheap as chips. There's also the good old purple Nineball or a PDI W-Hold, whichever takes your fancy.

Tightbore it, switch out the hop bucking and put .3's in it - It'll match or outdo your primary ;)
