  1. Potato phone again. I can see why people like EO Techs now. I'm still an Aimpoint kind of person, though it makes me really want to find an EXPS 3-2 copy.
  2. Well, I've learned I'm not really a suppressor kind of guy. Now I need to find an AAC 18T black out flash hider.
  3. Another potato photo, but I got a decent SCAR SD copy in. It's become a bit nose heavy with it, but no more than with the stock steel outer barrel on. Funnily enough, the PEQ15+ M3X setup actually adds little weight, the heaviest add ons are the Aimpoint Comp M4 and the SCAR SD can.
  4. Thank you CKinnerley! Your first picture is exactly what I was hoping the setup would turn out like. I don't think my setup will be as low profile as yours with a SF scout or other tube type light as I will be using a M3X or TLR with switch but I think it should free up my hand guard nicely. It also doesn't appear to protrude past the gas block so a suppressed CQC setup might work out well also. Now, just to find some cash for the mount. BTW, where is everybody finding those barcodes and QR decals? I'd really like to have some.
  5. Do you have the 2 inch barrel extension to get it to the proper military length? Seeing as how you have all the military bar codes and QR decals on your gun and all.
  6. Small update, should have a few more parts coming in soon. Also was able to try a short dot -ish site. It will go on something else but I couldn't resist trying it on mine.
  7. I think this thread needs a revival, sort of. Well, here's my offerings, sorry that they look like they're taken with a potato, but my nice camera isn't cooperating with me right now. Got this thing two or three years ago right before I got too busy and had to get out of airsofting. But lately I've been feeling like jumping back in so I grabbe some stuff for it. Sadly I ordered this one right when Cybergun started licensing the SCARs so my model was from their stock with the goofy trades. But over all I'm pretty happy with it so far. Never was a big fan of the 14.5 inch profile SCAR
  8. It seems that the nonreciprocating charging handle of the FNAC is actually a pretty simple mechanism. In fact it looks so similar to the original that you could get away with just using the original piece and cutting slight notch into it to imitate the new floating plate (if you're using a non blow back model). The major difficulty with modding a SCAR L into the FNAC is figuring out how to make the butt plate and the fact that the receiver and gas block would require some painful modifications if you cant get blanks (pretty much every one) or have access to a CNC machine. As for the PDW, I've
  9. My old Omega X (circa 2010 maybe) required modification. The channel/ groove that the gas tube had to pass through had a good 4mm or so of metal left un-machined from it at the end. I had to take a dremel to it (ruined several bits) but I eventually got it on. Maybe production has changed, but it seems that the off spec rails have stayed, so who knows.
  10. Then I think the MSBS RADON might fit your bill. First prototypes looked very much like the Masada/ ACR. The latest models have differentiated a little bit. I can't remember all the parts that are interchangeable, but supposedly it has a common receiver. Doesn't look so common to me, but hey, it's a pretty cool setup. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e9/MSBS-5%2C56.jpg
  11. At least for the VFC and related models they come off the same. Now, proportions may be totally different and prevent backwards comparability. Other models such as the G&G obviously differ because the stock is bolted on. Your memory may come from when the removal of the stock did change for real steel. Between ver.2 and ver.3 they changed the stock design. They not only changed the cheek comb, but also the direction the stock removed from. Ver.2 SCARs had the stock come of upwards, while ver.3 and on come off downwards. As for an LE stock on the SCAR, I'm not sure why you would, but I
  12. The can is supposed to be a KAC NT4 replica. ICS is one of the numerous brands that make a copy.
  13. If you use a drop in hand guard such as that MOE you must have some sort of FSP set up. You could keep the fixed sights, get some fip up gas block sights, a low profile gas block, or a railed gas block. Personally, I'd get a gas block with flip up BUIS. That would help with using the scope but still provide sights. Low profile gas blocks would eliminate any sort of back up sighting system. A railed gas block would allow you to mount sights, but they rarely match up with the RIS of the upper receiver. Personally I also think they look dumb. If you want a new metal body you pretty much hav
  14. This may be a bad idea, but try a little rubbing alcohol. it actually won't clean the oil from the plastic, it'll take a thin layer of plastic off. At least, that's what happened on my G&G when it got shiny and I tried removing it. I'm not sure how TM plastic might react to alcohol, so be really careful. I say this information more as observation than as actual advice.
  15. I think it's just to mimic real steel. You often see a troops/ SOF with a PEQ in tandem with a flash light. I think it has something to do with leaving the PEQ on IR modes and using the torch for visible light. But because these replicas don't function as such, it's just for show. Correct me if I'm wrong.
