  1. Flat tyre. I changed the front two tyres maybe 2 months ago. Fingers crossed it can be repaired! Otherwise £80 for new, not too bad for direct from a garage, but I can get the same tyre online for £30 cheaper! Can't get home on the spare as its a space saver so it'll have to be.

Bloody cars, only just done the front springs!

If anyone is going to buy any tyres go for Kumho tyres as they are offering an accident damage policy at the mo that's second to none!

  2. Aquaponics is the future of farming.I had my greenhouse aquaponics set up going for over two years now. No need to get too technical but a DWC system is the way to go as it regulates temperature more consistently. Need to get my 1/4 acre allotment set up the same but it's finding the time :0(

Loads of Andrino code and sensors out there in the public domain but I'm trying to keep my symbiotic systems as low tech as possible.

Aquaponic systems can be as small as a plant pot so space or time is no excuse!

  3. Spent better half of the day mucking about with the dryer with my uncle who drove up to take a look at it.  Turned out to be as I figured, the thermal fuse.

Despite me saying how I read up on the probably issues and whatnot, my father had to keep going on bothering us to watch some random video he found on checking problems, insisting that his information was best, and then claiming I treat him with no respect when I say otherwise.

Some days I wish I could pick up the bottle.

Who knows, you might be the same as him when you are his age! I always cut the oldies some slack as I dont know what the future holds for me :0)

  4. Go for it, the mods will decide

If it's really out of order we'll just ban you :D

I could care less about the plonkers on here whereas I most definitely don't want to be sued for libel in British Law Courts!

    Therefore, I'm saying nothing as I know I live in a ...... ..... PJS and YMA can have .......  ........ . ....... .. ....... for now :0)

  5. I guess people that work on cars for a living get a lot of 'experts' explaining what the problem is after they've diagnosed it from the Internet, incorrectly.  I just wish they would notice when they're talking to someone that knows what they're talking about and perhaps put their suggestion to the top of the list of possible fixes.  Rather than trying their set procedure of things before going back to the actual solution...

I love the people who phone up asking for advice and after youve told em whats up they then reply with "its not that" :0)

"Sorry I can't help then" Byyyeeee

  7. cambelt and waterpump changed on corrado, charger primed, coolant refilled and she fired into life once again!

only to find a major waterleak...

    from the waterpump area.

    *fruitcage* my life

Probably pinched the oring might want to source one just incase but hay look on the bright side, at least, its running and will be easier second time around ! Did you drill the bolt out with a masonry bit? Or was that someone else on here who rounded out a bolt?

Why do car manufacturers dry fit everything with no anti-seize compounds and assemble engines before the fit them! The should be made to assemble everything in order so you know the pieces that will need replacing at some point can be sorted without removing the whole feckin engine almost!

  8. it's not 'better' for you, and it's not alkaline.

Saying that, i've never Ph tested one. Anyone got some strips? I'll do a test of brewed coffee, instant coffee and cold brew coffee and see whats what.

Anyhoo, what happens is during the extraction (brewing) process, hot water brings out the most volatile and 'acidic' of the oils/flavours in the coffee beans, which is what helps it taste AMAZING.

When you use cold water, you don't get that, but obviously the lack of heat means it takes longer to extract the coffee goodness. 12 hours will do but 24 would be better.

You then end up with a really strong (think squash, but coffee) concentrate which you can dilute down with water and/or milk. Because there's much fewer of the acidic aromatics, it tastes a lot different to normal coffee.

Beans with high floral notes (like an Yirgacheffe or so) will taste amazing cold brewed.

When you test it you will find out that it is alkaline if cold brewed and if you add the right amount of coffee to water there's no need to dilute it.

The time it takes depends greatly on how fine you if at all you grind the beans,I personally don't grind them at all.

Of course, taste is down to personal preference but I like many others don't like bitter tasting anything but especially coffee.

While the research is still ongoing regarding our bodies  PH levels and how it affects our health, cold brewed coffee is better for your teeth because it's about 60%

    less acidic.

Caffeine  content is about the same cold or hot brewed and come to think of it hot brewed most probably has more antioxidants.

I love it as when its brewed it lasts for days with no taste change so can just hav it on tap in the fridge.

I use one of these and if I know its going to be a while till my next fix I just top it up with the same amount of water I've just poured out.

As it happens I have Alembic Still that made by Gaggia the bloke who invented the modern espresso coffee machine :0)

But no one like a boaster right :09)

  9. I like cold brew and ice cold milk. Very tasty and refreshing.

Much better for you as its alkaline not acidic like hot brewed coffee. Tastes sweet and not bitter.

Shame it takes 12 hours to brew mind you!!

  10. Because the switch to blip high beam is easier to reach than any other light switch.

If I've time, and the lights are on, I prefer to blip my front fogs, but the button is harder to get to.

I drive loads of different vehicles on a regular basis and while it's not as easy as blipping the main beam, still a simple task to flick from head to side lights for a split second on 95% of them.

If the lights aren't on I give them a flash of the full beam then as it's not going to dazzle anyone in the day and I also give them a wave or thumbs up most because it winds the other half up, I get "you only have to thank them once" but that's just way I am. I feel guilty going through customs even though I really do have nothing to declare!

  11. But getting back on topic how come drivers FLASH you with thier FULL BEAMS as a way of thanking you when its dam right crappy to get bright light shone in your eyes!

I always flick my lights off for a sec to show my thanks :0)

  12. High tensile steel. Nothing's touching it.

I know it  sounds stupid but we use a masonry drill bit, will do the job!

Diesels run on average between 18:1 and 22:1, so almost twice as much compression as petrols.

As such, it's inevitable than when the fuel/air goes boom, some of it (parts per million) slip past the piston rings into the oilways/sump.

this is what makes your oil black.

Correct but bore wash is why diesekl gets mixed with the engine oil but its very small amounts.

It sounds like if Stunt makes it to power we wil have to place our hand under our nose and point to the little nman who lives down the raod!!!

  13. It shoots too hard for any UK use anyway, it's more of a fun gun, or mechanics/experimenters gun. At 800+fps with 0,20 on CO2, you can imagine where this can be taken with 0,89 on HPA.

With no hop its going to be  regardless where its taken?
