  1. Truth, at the time I was a hardcore TM Fanboy for the TM M14, glad I'm not anymore! Now I should be being payed by G&G just to advertise their guns for them... It's really getting quite excessive lol
  2. And, you are welcome IIRC the Gearset was not the fault of G&G though, had something to do with pulling apart the gearbox to put in a stiff spring, then finding out it didnt work, then reassembling, then it ran for like a year and stripped when you got back home? Are my memories correct? Good thing everything else there is standard wear and tear parts that'd break even if you were with a standard M14 I agree, considering the fact that the gun comes out of the box at 430 FPS w/ .20's, and everything internally upgraded to operate at that level, it's worth it. The less I h
  3. Good review man! Thats a lot of good information. When I got my SRC G36 Gen II though there are a few differences from yours. The most important was the piston on yours is different hten mine. Mine was green in color as is the new Piston color for them. I'm not sure the difference but I know it's not at all like the JG Piston I have here It's much nicer, It's made of (at least as far as I can tell) the same material that Prometheus uses on their Hard Piston. I also had a 4 port Piston head, but again, mine was green. The port holes looked a little bit bigger on mine. The compression w
  4. With the G&G Stock you will have to do some work because the motor on the G&G swivels to assist in getting the motor into the stock. The CA's is fixed which causes the stock to eventually split out. You will need to dremel, or replace the gearbox in the CA with a G&G one. The G&G Gearbox is proprietary to the G&G M14, the CA uses a slightly modified G&G Gearbox (Fixed motor mount and TM style crappy fire selector) There is no reason it should not work with some elbow grease.
  5. I hate to break it to you but a lot of M14 discussion goes on here. It's not JUST a picture thread, if it was JUST a picture thread than we'd have a mod in here scolding us. Besides A LOT of information gets past here about set ups that work for our purpose and others that dont. The history of the M14 is just as important as the pictures As to the USMC using the M14, they do as the M21 DMR rifle. The m14 itself is used by Navy seals as an M14 and by some other special forces units. It's not completely phased out, it's just not the primary battle rifle of the US anymore. It has not
  6. With the TM style unit's it's almost impossible to do a good solid check because of the design, the easist thing to do is plug the two holes in the Hop up unit and blow down the barrel (as quirky as that sounds) and check that way, then for the gearbox it's just a matter of whether or not it seals up right. You should be able to put it up against hte gearbox and plug the other hole then blow down the barrel again and see if it seals decently enough against hte mechbox shell. As a thought, if your gearbox is 100% as reliable and great sounding as it's going to get, and your hop up set up is p
  7. More or less spending the time choosing the right barrel, hop up rubber and Big Out nub to use. It does take quite some time actually to get it set up. That and I factored in the hour I spent fixing the lock up issue and modding it to semi only. Ideally though you want 100% seal against the gearbox and between the barrel and hop up unit with the rubber. It takes some time to get 100% right
  8. You know what though? Sometimes it's best to put that much effort into an AEG. It gives it a sense of individuality I love my M14, I have spent probably that many hours just refining the barrel + hop up combination to make my tack driver of an AEG. Now the gun will probably be MORE consistent being as I just added an AB MOSFET to it. Oi, Full Auto was never and still is not meant to be as accurate as semi auto firing. Having full auto on an M14 is correct, having full auto on an M21 is not. You never hear a SAW gunner squeezing off a burst with a Leupold Mark 3 on the rail on his co
  9. Really? Impossible to control? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgvnMhY6S6w That guy says otherwise, and he's just a regular shooter... The difference between control and accuracy are two different things. Full Auto serves one purpose in the military, cover fire... The M14's history was NEVER as a marksman rifle, it was a battle rifle, designed to replace the M1 Garand, and it did it's job well in Vietnam untill the M16 took it's place as the main assault rifle, THEN it became the M21 platform which was Semi Auto and accurized. M14's in Semi Auto where armorer's specials, the M2
  10. Approaching two years of ownership and not a single hiccup AT ALL. I resoldered my connector to deans imediately upon recieving it and have switched from my 8.4v 3500 mAh to an 11.1v 2200 mAh 25c battery. Still going strong, this gun is built like a brick house and performs just as good today as it did when I bought it. As for the stock, I'm pretty rough on guns and it is showing but the paint isnt flaking off yet, and yes, unfortunately it's painted darker than it should be. If it's a huge deal sand it down and stain it like it should have been. Personally mine isnt coming off yet s
  11. My K runs a full 363mm M4 tightbore and it is just below where the threads are on the outer barrel for the flashhider. I know he was asking about the XM8 but I figured the "trades" would be about the same being as the guns are identical minus a few cosmetic changes.
  12. There really are no trades on my SRC G36K I mean there are, but they are not manufacturer trades or anything... With gun facing to the left, it says "Warning Refer to instruction manual then there is a depressed box that says Cal. 6mm BB then where the trades are supposed to be it has my individual serial number... Well the scope to be honest is still meh... at least my K model is. It's not bad but it's not that great either, eye relief is terrible but as I understand all of them are no matter what model you get. Is it useable? Yeah it is, it's fairly clear too, for the price I wa
  13. Why not go for the SRC XM8 Gen III?
  14. I dont know if the hop up will ever break though, every bit of it is metal and it takes standard barrels and hop up rubbers and nubs. The quick and dirty fix would be to buy a new mag well and hop up unit but I dont forsee this one breaking anytime soon as it's very well made. I'll let ya know about the scope, I've never taken the time to zero it as I probably wont use it very frequently if at all. But I'll keep ya posted
  15. Acuracy is the product of far too many variables. Both the G&G and TM M14's have very good hop ups. The CA hop up is OK, but the G&G one is much stiffer and much more accurate. It would be pointless to leave the hop up rubber and nub stock. Thats like racing a stock car in a drag race, very few people do that that are serious about racing As to groupings, I currently dont have any pictures of what the groupings are like but my longest confirmed kill was 200 FT with a single shot (probably lucky) most of my shots fall within the 150 ft range ina grouping no larger than half the w
  16. Thanks, and yeah, SRC is still kicking! Generation III guns are supposed to be an improvement on this generation which says alot since it's already pretty impressive. Cant wait for the Gen III guns to come out, may pick up another for grins
  17. I have a better idea for you. G&G M14 Veteran, shoots 430 w/ .20's STOCK, has tightbore STOCK, woodstock stock, beefy gearbox, awesome mags, and in general is an impressive M14. Not to diss on the TM or anything, (I owned one when they came out) but the G&G M14 Veteran already shoots your desired FPS range stock, add a 6.01 tightbore, new hop up rubber and nub and be right on top of 450 without ever cracking the gearbox seal. I cant emphasize enough how much I love mine. If you check out the M14 Brotherhood section you can see my review of all three major M14's (TM, CA, and G&a
  18. Finally got around to writing a more formal review of my SRC. Enjoy ladies and gents http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/inde...howtopic=163749
  19. TSD/SRC G36K Gen II. INTRO: After some long serious thinking I broke down and violated my personal number one rule: NO plastic bodied guns. I have a history of being hard on guns and that was one history I was hoping to deter happening again by never buying a plastic bodied gun. Well, what can I say? I’m a sucker for the G36K. In fact, I’m a sucker for the E and MG36 as well . I purchased my SRC (labeled as TSD) G36K from Airsoft GI and it came in a rather uninteresting brown box. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: They always say first impressions are a real B! Sure enough
  20. That is probably the most satisfying part of it. I could never get the hang of taking G36 mags out withe AK way. At least with the AK it was a shake and it would fall out. With the G36's mag release it literally requires you to grab the mag and pull it out, which is a bit inefficient in my eyes. The extended mag release is plenty stiff, and with the right mags you can kneel, drop the mag reload and keep fighting and pick up the mag at your convenience. It's so nice I was impressed with my G36, kinda makes me wonder why I didnt buy one sooner. At the same Time I'm glad I didnt buy o
  21. Alrighty, Combat update on my SRC: This weekend I threw my 7.4v LiPo in and went to the game. I have to say with my upgrades the gun exceeds my expectations once again. For having a lower FPS than my M14 it still shoots like her! Great range, good accuracy, my major gripe is the ROF. On my fully charged 7.4v LiPo the gun turns over at a measily 20 RPS max. I will hit it up with Audacity some other time. The SW-Evolution and the Project Dragon LiPo board worked great untill the LiPo started getting a little low, the gun would not complete cycles, instead it would get to about 1/4 the way
  22. Yeah that is one beautiful G36! You could post more of them all day if you want, I wouldnt mind I was very surprised, to say the least. In terms of battery space, I did manage to fit my friends 10.8v in there and when it was charged the gun hits 22 RPS with an M110 spring and a 10.8v Mini. My LiPo is here, tomorrow I'm going to stop by the RC car store and pick up a balancer for her and maybe another LiPo if they have a good one. Gotta get all the wiring in tomorrow too! Already blew a fuse though, too fast on semi auto (it was doing so well ) In terms of accuracy, at the 25 fe
  23. Teasing you all. Ok, quick breif reviewish... Uhm, where do I begin... December of 07 I was in an airsoft store completely torn between an M16A4 and a G36. I was given basically CA as my choice, nothing else, and while I was there I was very enthused that the G36 seemed like a good Rifle. After some years of experience in disassembly of gearboxes I learned quite quickly that CA makes some of the most interesting gearboxes... There is no consistency between gearboxes in terms of shimming and motor height and quality. SO I was very leary of buying a CA G36 this time around. After
  24. Well gents, my new toy should be here sometime today... I will take pictures of the process and through out a prelim review. I dont have the battery yet so I wont go hacking into the internals quite yet, but I do have my friends mini 10.8v that I will use to guage how the motor and gearbox turns. I just hope that this purchase doesnt come back to bite me... I'm very leary of the durability of a plastic bodied gun so I hope all goes well The prospect of tearing into a V3 gun doesnt appease me either, which is why I will wait on the hacking into the GB untill the battery arives (since
  25. WETTI How about a black tube instead of a brass one? You are losing lots of sales to the G&P and WA system because of the big brass tube in the charging handle area. Find a way to permanetly make it black or something as thats seriously what caused me to not buy one. (I didnt buy the WA or G&P one yet either) Other than that, honestly, an M16 would be amazing. P-Mag... I think I need to use the restroom, thats too much win.
