  1. TMP or MP9? [EDIT]I can just make out 'KWA' in the photo.[/EDIT]

What's it lying on? That looks like an injection mould, or maybe it's something that's upside-down?

^ looks like a plastic pallet or ropak.

KWA Mp9, Black lower and Ranger Grey upper.

    Sitting on an overturned pallet.

  2. I've never approached the issue mathematically. It's more something I observed with RA-Tech's NPAS-System for the WA. In case you're unfamiliar, there is a screwable component in the nozzle, moving the velve forward or backward. forward=less fps, backward more FPS. Point is, at some point not far backwards from the middle position (as seen from the gas entry window of the nozzle), the Bolt Assembly starts to recoil unreliably. It is possible to move the valve further back, but then, the bolt will no longer work properly.

By "reliable" work I mean that the bolt still catches on empty. Since it's an AR system, the bolt catches very far back, maybe a few mm off the most backwards position.

So a very low FPS with the NPAS does translate in a lot of gas being guided out through the rear, making the bolt carrier catch more reliably.

Sure a BB is easier to propel than the bolt, but the bolt doesn't have to move at speed of several hundred feet per second. I mean, this is how the system works, right? Gas expands towards the rear and pushes the bolt back. More gas, more power in the backwards motion. The effect is likely less pronounced on heavier BCGs and likely even less pronounced on the multi-vector recoil action of the Kriss, but every bit counts...

I am familiar with the npas, my valves are pretty much fixed position npas units :)

In my observations with the Ns2 engines, the redirected gas load is negligible.

    Anyways.

The Kriss valve will probably end up having a valve different from the LM4.

Fingers crossed I'll have a good version coming soon.

  3. No sweat, man. I guess most of us are battling temps too low for GBB use right now, not too high. If I understand correctly, the valve insert you make cuts off gas flow to the front earlier (lower fps) and redirects the gas flow to the back. Which should translate into more power for the recoil/reload action. Not neccessarily stronger recoil, but more reliable and stable in low temperatures. I like!

Not exactly. It is all relative.

The strength of the redirected gas has a HUGE effect on the output speed of a .2-.3 gram BB, but the mass of a bolt is leagues heavier.

The increased power is something that can probably be shown on paper, but negligible in practice. Drop of water to fill a thimble vs drop of water to fill a cup kind of thing.

  4. The idea behind the valve is pre-engaging the system to close sooner. Less gas escaping the front of the cylinder decreases FPS. A valve longer than stock will do that.

The problem is that length is only 1 issue and local temperature is also a variable that contributes to fps output.

I tend to have the valves produce an fps lower than CQB legal to account for temps. A cqb valve that produces 330FPS at 60*F is going to be too hot if the player plays in 85*F+ weather.

The current valve will work, but once it becomes hotter, the FPS output might increase.

I am working with local players and retailers with my beta valves now to find a good temp range that will satisfy temps of the hotter regions. I am currently on my 3rd revision and waiting on feedback from testers.

I'd have these out sooner, but I am only 1 guy and these things take time.

  5. Righteo, Dropped the stock nozzle back in.  Full mag just fired on semi/2 round happily and with gas to spare.

So it seems that the Dangerwerx nozzle isn't quite right for lowering the power of the kirss :/

My original is pretty much only good for the M9/Mp7/Mp9.

I am still working on an LM4/Kriss Valve.

  6. So far RA-Tech and KM Head make inner barrels, no one has a 100% compatible outer barrel. The Guarder and other KSC made outer barrels fit with some modification.

Hmm, No outer barrels yet... I'll look into that.

I'd like to made a consistent SPR as well as an indoor shorty M4.

I could see an M16 length barrel being desireable to a lot of people, myself included. Since the stock barrel covers the 14.5 and 10.5 inch barrel lengths Im not sure it would make much sense to produce those.

    Same here

Also, Dangerwerx, Do you do any custom orders? I am in need of an aluminum (Or similar metal) gas bulb for a VFC Mp5, as the plastic ones keep blowing in half on me.I could provide several plastic ones for reference. Is it possible to contact you for something like this?

Gas bulbs blowing apart is a common problem on the Mp5 if you install an aluminum loading nozzle.

Shoot me a Pm, lets take this off the thread to keep it clean.

  7. I'm surprised this part is done via CNC, couldn't you do it via mold?

    Yes and but no....

I prefer CNC since at a small batch level, I can fund production without outside financing and hold a high degree of part accuracy. I am just 1 guy and I would like to keep it that way.

I have looked into an injection molded option though. I just don't think it is feasible for how many I would need to produce and the time frame that I would need to break even. For other projects, it would make sense.

Anyways, back on topic with the KWA LM4...

How are the customization options out there?

From what I read, grips, stocks and rail systems are covered. Are there aftermarket barrels yet? I like the Idea of playing Mr. Potato head with an LM4 to use as a base.

  8. I was expecting a FPS reduction, though didn't really see anything significant at all. If I did lose some power then it was probably less then 5fps.

Noticed in your review that you used a modded version of my valve.

How much did you end up modifying?

I am waiting on a Lm4 for testing and recently started work on an LM4 specific valve.

  9. Looks like someone else has made some QD Mp9 silencers.

I must say, I am not a fan of the look of it though, the step from end caps and body are a bit dramatic, but looks cool anyways. I am glad others are stepping into MP9 Territory!

  10. Hmm - very tempted as it was only the long range accuracy I had an issue with at the weekend in a woodland game. Could be a dirty barrel as flights were very erratic but a tightbore would certainly help. Dangerwerx will you be squeezing any extra length in with the one you are designing?

Anyone also want to comment on the quality of the standard hop rubber or recommend an upgrade as well?

    I was looking to do either a 145mm, 70mm or a 210mm steel barrel.

  11. Hey guys,

Just a preview of next batch of threaded muzzles.

I was able to shave down about .5in of the whole unit.

This will probably be the standard muzzle I make, with a few limited runs of "modded" barrels

Here is also a bit of a teaser for another project...
