  1. I've had no problems with my gearbox. The only time I've seen gearboxes crack are in the middle of a cold winter when someone is trying to pull a heavy spring. I usually lighten up my spring in the winter for just this reason. I also put a Sorbo pad on my piston head to deaden the sound. Added benefit is it helps protect the gearbox. I've seen the video of the guy who claims the gearboxes are no good. I can't comment on it but as you said, he had a heavily modified gearbox from what I recall. Also note that all mechanical things fail. Some sooner than others. I've been running my M
  2. sn00py, glad to see the KWA v3 head works. As I mentioned in a previous post, I have an AUG cylinder head that seems to work well too. I like your idea of mod'ing the tappet plate to allow for a better seal. I'm putting in a new micro switch in a few days and will try that as well.
  3. @F1refly: Do you have a link?
  4. I believe it's proprietary or at least no one has been able to find a 3rd party replacement. Remember it's used for the quick spring change mechanism. Really, the V2 cylinder head works? I'd think the head nozzle would be too short. Good to hear it's working though. Can you give more specifics on what's in your ACR to achieve the performance you're getting? Is most of it stock or have you modified it heavily? If modified, can you give specifics? What type of battery are you using? I"m not getting nearly that in FPS and/or RPS and it's eating up my 11.1 20C 1100 mah lipos
  5. I am using a Lipo. Specifically a Elite 11.1 20C 1100 mah with Deans connector. I've also used a 7.4 30C 2650 mah lipo with success. I'm also fronting those with an AWS Sentry MOSFET. I'm guessing the 7.4 might be OK with stock as others have indicated but I feel better with the Sentry protecting and regulating the electronics. The 11.1 is giving me great trigger response though the 7.4 will last forever. I can't recall if I mentioned it but I'm also using a Guarder Infinite Torque motor. I don't think the stock motor takes to 11.1's well but I could be biased. Would defer to others wh
  6. Scav, no problem. I sometimes forget to document exactly what I'm doing when I putz with this stuff and thought this one would be worth the effort. Regarding the spare parts, did Magpul PTS mean an ASGI online retailer or more of a distributor like Spartan?
  7. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I replaced the parts I did for a reason. My compression was bad hence the new nozzle, the inside of the stock cylinder had been scored, and the piston head that I had swapped in during my first mod was sub par. I'd be using the stock piston right now if I hadn't pulled a rookie (see my post above). If your Masada is working for you, then by all means get out there and play. Maybe buy the Modify set when you're ready to do your next round of maintenance. Then again, if you really want to replace something, just buy the AUG cylinder head.
  8. OK, so I spent some time this past weekend working on adding the Modify AUG cylinder upgrade set to the Masada. Here's the kit at Airsoft GI for $50 USD: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=2262 and the package that I received (at this point I already opened the package): As you can see here, the new Modify version has a cylinder head stem that is about 3mm shorter than the stock Magpul version. It's OK, it works. The nozzle never travels far enough on the cylinder head stem to become a problem. You can also see here the stock piston with the new Mod
  9. I can't speak to this one, but it looks close. The top looks a little different than the one I have.
  10. Agreed. I'd use the AUG. The cylinder head nozzle is about 3mm shorter than the stock cylinder head nozzle but works well. Combined with a sealed nozzle part the compression is very tight on the cylinder/piston/nozzle assembly. I bought a AUG tune up kit from Modify (http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=2262). The best part about this kit is everything except the AUG nozzle is usable in the ACR. The piston works fine with AOE set. I even glued a sorbo pad onto the cylinder head and the thing is incredibly quiet. Still doing some work on other parts of the ACR but
  11. Scav, I'm in the process now of trying the AUG cylinder head. I'll update in a few days.
  12. Glad to help. Just be sure to get the NC version as they have a NO version as well. See the picture of the stock switch in my original post.
  13. Email on it's way. For everyone else, here's my post on the micro switch I've found: http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=184343&view=findpost&p=2438852
  14. The only exception that I know of is the trigger assembly. The micro switch is replaceable, but the part that triggers the micro switch is not that I know of.
