WE AKS-74UN First Impressions (Pic heavy)

I'm pretty sure it was bound to happen regardless. :/ In any case, it's fixed now and I was able to play yesterday. -

So at 10:00 at tonight I discovered a hair-line crack on the trigger box, in the usual place. :/ It's a good thing I bought steel epoxy the other day, I kind of anticipated this. It's only my third skirmish with this gun and I have another one in the morning. Needless to say I'm making emergency repairs tonight. -

I got my RA-Tech trigger set in. Machining looks a little rough but it was a drop-in fit. It works beautifully. Only thing I have to worry about it the triggerbox breaking. I'm probably going to buy an extra trigger box and reinforce that one with the steel epoxy. What's the point of the RA-Tech recoil kit(piston)? Is it simply just more recoil via a heavier piston? Does it help it cycle? -

For the record I don't run these buffers in my real steel AKs. XD As RenegadeCow says, they do more harm than good in the real steel AKs. I was just tired of replacing the eraser buffer every game. -

So I used a rubber eraser for my buffer, after my first skirmish it was beat to hell. So I used a real steel AK bolt buffer: It fit very snugly. I removed the old "buffer" assembly. We'll see how it turns out. My RA-Tech trigger set will be in soon as well. -

I'm not sure. I'm scared lol. I can check tomorrow. -

One of the five mags I bought had a reinforcement screw of some sort. Do any of your mags have this? -

So my AK survived its first skirmish I've probably run like 300 rounds through her. I'm going out again this Sunday and I will most likely be doing the following after the skirmish: Trigger box epoxy reinforcement Rear bolt buffer mod, probably going to use some foam Hammer buffer using foam Eventually a RA-Tech steel trigger set Sounds good? -

I can't find the Hephaestus parts anywhere, so it seems like RA-Tech is the only option. I'll definitely keep an eye on fitment issues. I may purchase extra springs as well. -

Does anyone spot any changes to the internals with this pic? Or should I go ahead and order the RA-Tech stuff now. XD -

I did hear about the Hephaestus kit. I'm having trouble finding it though. Thanks for the input guys. This is my first GBB rifle after playing with AEGs for a while. -

How many skirmishes do you think a stock WE AK would last on semi-auto only? Other than the RA-Tech steel internals set, what other longevity upgrades are recommended? It seems that I can at least add a rear bolt buffer and a pad on the hammer as seen in the last few posts. -
What happens if I just use the stock long piston and a Ver. 2 sector gear? Would that be sufficient to increase the reliability? I don't have the resources to go get a Ver2. piston and source a 10mm spacer and screw.

Any chance that the WE trademarks are just a sticker?

Does anyone have any experience with this scope mount? http://www.ebairsoft.com/mtk83-20mm-mount-rail-p-1070.html Quality-wise how are they? Reviews don't help, they're 50/50.
-
Can anyone ship me the required 10mm spacer and screw? I'll pay for it of course.

It's the fake gas tube.

More pics please!

Wow. Great information guys. Anyone have any suggestions?
-
That's what I'm told. Thanks.

I'm toying with the idea with putting a silencer on my AK-74M. I'm getting mixed answers on this whole PBS1 vs. PBS4 thing.
-
Is it true that only the AK-105 has the fake gas piston? Been trying to find videos of the final AK-105 internals to check but so far have only found prototype vids showing the piston.

My R85 stripped it's piston a few hours ago. I would love to keep the pre-cocking feature but if it affects reliability that much then I can do without. Now what to do...I've got mixed answers from people: 1) G&P SR-25 Polycarb piston (remove second tooth) Keep pre-cocking feature. 2) G&P SR-25 Polycarb piston (remove first and second tooth) Keep pre-cocking feature. 3) G&P SR-25 Polycarb piston + Standard Tokyo Marui Sector Gear 4) Ver.2 Piston + 10mm Spacer + TM Sector Gear (Not really a good option as RedWolf seems to have the kit out of stock) Unrelated: I messe
